Locke read all the books in the room before dark and found nothing special about them. The contents were all about the various characteristics of the six catastrophes and their locations. Finally, there were some legends about why they appeared.
"Strange! There was nothing mentioned about methods to get rid of them!"
Just as Locke was about to flip through the books again, the old butler knocked on the door. "Young Master, it's Caspar. The Master wants you to join him for a meal!"
"Okay! I'll do it now." Then, he placed the book back.
Just as they left the room, everything in Locke's room turned to ash and disappeared into thin air.
Arriving at his father's manor's dining hall, three people were already seated at the long table—Clifford, Benson and Princess Vicki. Locke walked to Clifford's side, but his father, Benson, quickly stopped him with a look!
Locke awkwardly walked to Princess Vicki's side after seeing his father's stern gaze.
After sitting down, Locke wanted to explain his relationship with Princess Vicki to his father.
Before he could speak, however, his father said. "Vicki, from now on, will be my daughter-in-law. Locke, you must treat her well! After all, she has travelled across the ocean and came here from such a faraway place. During this period of time, you should accompany Vicki around the city!"
Hearing this, Locke immediately lowered his head, while Princess Vicki was secretly extremely happy. He had been here for a long time, but he had always been holed up in his own room. They had yet to go anywhere together!
After dinner, everyone left, leaving Benson and Locke in the dining hall. The two of them walked to the lounge at the side of the dining hall. Locke sat on a chair in the lounge to rest while Benson stood by the window, thinking about something.
After a few minutes, Benson said, "Many things have happened to you in the academy! The Reynolds family became more prosperous because of your outstanding performance, but none of this is what I want! I only hope that you can live peacefully, but it's too late for me to say that now. Therefore, please prioritize your own life over the missions you accept. I know what you're doing, especially with the special operations team. I'm also aware of your importance to the kingdom's future. Although this is selfish of me to say, you are my last son. I have to consider the future of the Reynolds family!"
After saying that, his father, Benson, fell silent.
Hearing his words, Locke was deeply moved.
Just as Benson's father had said, he had no other choice. It was impossible for him to escape from his duties as a captain in the Dunmei Dark Blade Dragons.
After making up his mind, Locke stood up and bowed deeply to Benson. "No matter what happens in the future, as long as I am alive, I will not give up easily! No matter how difficult the mission is, I will make the best of the situation even of nothing goes in my favor. If possible, I will try my best to survive!"
After saying that, Locke turned and left the lounge. Benson's eyes turned red after listening to Locke's words. "Locke has grown up after all. I have no reason to keep him! The only thing I can do is to pray to the stars and hope that he can be safe in the future!"
He left the room but did not have time to return to his room.
Clifford sat down and said to Locke, "You don't have much time left here. At most, we can stay here till midnight today! The King has sent an order. The eastern and southern borders of the Kingdom of Dunmei are in very dire situations right now. You need to go back and increase your combat power!"
Locke nodded at Clifford and went straight to his room. He had to take the books with him before he left. However, as soon as he entered the room, he realized a big problem. All the books that were previously piled up there had disappeared. Locke hurriedly called the old butler over to inquire. However, the butler replied that no one had entered or left the room.
Even though he did not manage to figure out anything from reading the books earlier, he had memorized all the content in the books. All of this knowledge had been recorded by the system, but Locke did not think to open the system to check.
"So be it!"
He turned around and went to Vicki's room. After knocking three times, the door was quickly opened. She was wearing thin pajamas and was preparing to sleep. Seeing Locke, she quickly closed the door.
"Princess Vicki, I'm just here to say goodbye to you! The Dunmei Kingdom is in dire straits, so I have to leave tonight! I'll have to postpone our trip around the city! I'm really very sorry. After this war, if I can come back, I will accompany you for the entire day in Reynolds City!"
After a while, Locke realized that there was no movement inside and turned to leave.
Just as Locke was leaving, Vicki quietly opened the door and said to him, "I'll wait for you to come back!"
When Locke heard the slight response, he walked out of the manor with a smile.
After bidding his last goodbyes to the old butler, he immediately left the Reynolds Manor together with Clifford. They headed straight back to the Dunmei Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the entire southern defense line had already sent four high-level Dragon Knight mages to hold their ground in the battle. Even so, the battle was still intense. These undead creatures from the abyss were very difficult to deal with.
If the main force had been mobilized here, the Kingdom of Dunmei would not have been so pressured, because at this time, the Kingdom of Castley, which was located east of the Kingdom of Dunmei, was also waging war.
It was as if they had discussed this with the Lord of the Abyss, and had simultaneously launched a war against the Dunmei Kingdom.
When Locke was not around, King Dunmei had no choice but to instruct Hanos Lamira to fight against the enemies from the Kingdom of Castley in the east.
This was a decision made after many considerations, because the east was full of humans. If Lamira was accidentally captured by the enemy, there would at least be a way out.
However, it was different in the southern battlefield. This place was filled with abyssal creatures. They did not capture any captives at all. They would only kill everyone they encountered. The people and dragons that were killed there would immediately turn into undead creatures to add to the strength of the enemy's army.
So, the King of Dunmei decided to let Locke handle the entire undead army in the south. His reasoning was that Locke had a lightning weapon that could counter undead creatures. The second reason was that he possessed a young dragon with divine light attributes and could naturally restrain these creatures! Thirdly, Locke had control over the first generation Steel Dragon. Although he could not unleash its full strength, he could still unleash astonishing destructive power.
Hence, the king left the most difficult battleground to Locke!
