Chapter 9 - An Unexpected Person

Clifford secretly used a detection spell to find the entrance to the underground space of the village. He knew that Locke was keeping the demoness busy, so he swiftly sneaked in.

However, this was just the beginning. There were magic traps everywhere. Seeing this, Clifford couldn't help but frown. These things were not something that a demoness was capable of creating.

It took Clifford half an hour to reach the depths of the underground after continuously unlocking these complicated traps that would trigger alarms.

Inside the cave, there was a man wearing a black cloak. He was sitting on the demoness' coffin. He was still refining the source of darkness into the coffin. Because he was too focused, he did not notice Clifford sneaking in.

Clifford took advantage of the situation and immediately cast a spell. A fire magic ball shot toward the spell-casting person before him. This fire magic directly interfered with the opponent's spell, causing the magic spell to stop midway.

"Pfft!" He spat out a mouthful of blood.

A pair of glowing green eyes under the cloak flickered as it stared at Clifford. A very creepy and frightening laugh echoed. "You came at the right time, become my flesh and blood!"

Clifford never expected that the other party was actually a necromancer.

Hearing that, Clifford laughed out loud. "Who do you think I am? There are too many people who want my body. At your level, you are not even worthy!"

After all, Clifford was the man who had fought with the Necromancer King before. Even though he was still young at the time and could not contribute much in battle, he had survived that battle. Therefore, he knew of many ways to deal with the undead.

He immediately took out the light element powder from his pocket and scattered it all over his body.

"Let's see who dies first!"

As he spoke, he started to cast magic. Countless flames flickered in the cave, and the entire space was filled with miniature magic arrays.

Flames shot out from the magic arrays, forming pillars of flames that continuously attacked the necromancer. The necromancer quickly realized that these attacks were not aimed at him.

All the fire pillars hit the coffin below him.

Before he could react, the coffin was blown to pieces by Clifford.

"Are you stupid?"

"My intention is so obvious. To think that you thought I was aiming the attacks at you!"

After saying that, Clifford immediately cast a Light Body spell on himself and ran out of the cave.

He was well aware of the gap between him and the enemy. Without the support of the dragon, there was no way he could fight the necromancer one-on-one. Furthermore, he could clearly sense that there was a Bone Dragon hiding in the pool nearby.

Not long after he escaped, the roar of a giant undead Bone Dragon echoed from behind.

"Hahaha, I must teach this to Locke! One has to be sharp when fighting, or else you'll fall into someone else's trap!"

The roar of the Bone Dragon came at him from behind, and Clifford immediately cursed, "F*ck! How dare you lay your hands on an old man like me? Aren't you ashamed?!"

These words were clearly heard by the necromancer behind him. In a fit of anger, he immediately got onto the Bone Dragon and chased after Clifford.

Locke, who was above ground, suddenly sensed that the demoness in front of him had weakened, and immediately increased the speed of his attacks.

Under the pincer attack of the human and dragon, the demoness was annihilated and completely disappeared from the world.

"Congratulations to the host for completing the mission. You have received 10,000 EXP and 100 Merchant Shop Points!"

Locke had yet to open his system's merchant shop when he heard a huge commotion underground.

'Something is coming out!'

Within minutes, Clifford burst out of the hole.

He shouted at Locke, "Run!"

Due to the loud noise, Locke did not hear anything and immediately leaned over.

Then, a giant Bone Dragon appeared before his eyes.

Locke immediately turned tail and ran after Clifford!

"Why didn't you tell me a Bone Dragon was coming after you? I thought something good had happened!"

Clifford waved his hand as he ran and explained, "I told you to run. How would I know you'd be so stupid to still want to come forward?!"

Locke was rendered speechless.

Eliza, who was flying by the side, saw the gigantic Bone Dragon behind her. She paused in the air for a few seconds before flying in the opposite direction!

Locke couldn't believe his eyes! Eliza was actually flying toward the Bone Dragon!

When the two saw this, they looked at each other. They were already at their limit.

"Mentor, cast an Advanced Light Body spell on me. I can't run anymore!"

Clifford waved his wand, and Locke's body immediately became as light as a swallow. He took off as swift as the wind.

Seeing this, Clifford could not help but curse, "F*ck! How dare you leave me behind. Is this how you treat your mentor?"

As he spoke, he used Flying Magic and chased after Locke.

However, the necromancer behind them did not intend to let them go. He raised his hand and casted a Light Body spell on the Bone Dragon.

The giant Bone Dragon was as excited as if it had consumed Viagra. It sped up and followed closely behind the two fleeing guys.

Helpless, Locke took out his communication device and contacted the headquarters. The call finally connected after a few rings.

Adolf Green's profile appeared before Locke's eyes. "What's the matter, lad?"

As Locke ran, he pointed at the Bone Dragon behind him and said, "You said that I should call you if I needed any help!"

Adolf Green took a look and immediately shouted, "F*ck, where are you?! I remember that the mission I gave you was to get rid of a demoness!"

Clifford, who had caught up with Locke, immediately explained, "We're up against the necromancer who was controlling the Demoness. Now that I destroyed his magic formation, he won't rest until I'm dead!"

Adolf Green was silent for a few seconds. "You guys have to find a way to survive first! I'll ask the Hanos Science and Technology Tower for help!"

After the call ended, Locke immediately turned to Clifford. "Mentor, can't you delay him a little?"

"If I had a way, I wouldn't have escaped with you!"

No matter how much he thought about it, he could not think of a solution. At this moment, Eliza had also disappeared. Helpless and left with no other choice, Locke opened his system menu bar.

After a quick check, he realised that if he added 10,000 experience points into Eliza's stats in the attribute list, he would be able to obtain the first phase of fusion!

Under normal circumstances, only when a dragon reached adulthood would a magician be able to fuse with a dragon. However, Locke's case was a different one from others. He could fuse directly after reaching that upgraded level!

Without hesitation, he added the 10,000 experience points into Eliza's attribute list.
