Chapter 5 - Shocking AI!

"F*ck, is this a joke? Is this guy really capable?"

"I don't understand what's going on but I know these things are definitely not simple. This guy is prepared!"

"Hey, I think the third blueprint looks like a brain!"

"Oh god! Now that you mention it, I seem to see a living being made of data!"

"Could this be the artificial intelligence that Anderson wants to create?"

The crowd below the stage continued to discuss and express their opinions.

At this moment, President Joseph put down the blueprint in his hand and looked at Anderson in disbelief. "Anderson, are you trying to create a Third World?"

Seeing President Joseph's astonished expression, Anderson couldn't help but feel a little excited.

Sure enough, there were still people in this world who could understand the depths of his research.

He then smiled and explained, "That's exactly my idea. My artificial intelligence also includes the extension idea of linking to the human subconscious. However, these are things that can only be done in the future. Right now, what I'm trying to do with it is be able to solve most human problems, whether it is technology such as data deduction, or entertainment such as chess, or even human emotions."

At this moment, most of the people who listened to Anderson's explanation were still confused. They looked left and right, hoping to get some explanation from others.

Everyone had a rough understanding of artificial intelligence. Most people felt that it was like a toy for children to play with.

However, after listening to Anderson's explanation, they were stunned.

Was AI just entering data into a fixed program and then asking it to act according to a certain pattern of behavior?

But in Anderson's description of his technology, it seemed like that wasn't the case?

Since when could an AI understand human needs and even solve emotional problems?

And the most ridiculous thing was that he said it could actually link to the human subconscious.

This involved biological knowledge!

This was unacceptable to most people.

Just like in the Middle Ages, not everyone would accept the idea that they could be replaced by robots.

This was something that no one had considered because it was a path they had never imagined.

Moreover, most of these people represented companies that specialized in weapons.

Only a small number of researchers from companies that dabbled in science and technology had a general understanding of Anderson's thoughts and intentions. Excitement appeared in their eyes and they could not wait to have a good chat with Anderson.

Finally, a few people who did not understand found the right person and quickly asked, "Hey, is there anything special about this artificial intelligence and ordinary artificial intelligence?"

"Didn't you hear Anderson's analysis just now? Didn't he say it clearly?" A guy in a suit glanced at him and said disdainfully.

The person who asked was a little embarrassed.

There were plenty who also felt like they were in a similar situation.

After all, for people who dealt with all kinds of guns every day and didn't dabble in things beyond that, their knowledge regarding this matter did not even cover the basics.

Finally, he couldn't help it.

A young man raised his hand and asked Anderson, "I have a question. What is your definition of artificial intelligence?"

Hearing this young man's question, the concepts of knowledge related to artificial intelligence kept appearing in Anderson's mind.

Anderson looked at the young man as he said very smoothly, "To me, artificial intelligence includes robots, language recognition, image recognition, natural language processing, and expert systems.

"And in my vision, the technological products brought by artificial intelligence in the future will be a 'container' to human intelligence.

"Artificial intelligence can simulate the information process of human consciousness and thinking. Artificial intelligence is not human intelligence, but it can think like human beings and may even surpass us at some point.

"Artificial intelligence is an extremely challenging science. It includes computer knowledge, psychology, philosophy, and other disciplines, and is composed of different fields

"Generally speaking, one of the main goals of artificial intelligence research is to enable machines to perform complex tasks that normally require human intelligence. However, everyone's definition of 'complex' work differs in terms of their own knowledge and the era they come from."

After hearing Anderson's definition of artificial intelligence, the audience finally understood what Anderson wanted to do.

However, even if they understood, could such a thing really be made?

As Anderson said, people in different eras had different understandings of certain concepts.

Just like a complex job, different people had different answers.

That was to say, in order to deal with and solve such a problem, artificial intelligence had to be 'intelligent' enough to deal with the problem in different scenarios.

And in this era of pursuing technology, the problems that everyone was facing weren't problems that an ordinary intelligent computer could solve. Could this artificial intelligence really do all of that?

Everyone was now skeptical.

At this moment, compared to the doubt in everyone's hearts, President Joseph was more shocked.

Yes, shocked!

Artificial intelligence actually had a long history in this world, but no one had ever delved into the mysteries of it.

Not to mention the future and development of artificial intelligence, which Anderson had also defined earlier to the young man.

He took a deep breath, looked at Anderson, and praised him, "Anderson, your idea is very good. Currently, the research on artificial intelligence in our world is still in the field of intelligent simulation robots, but these only have basic information recognition.

"According to your conceptual blueprint, your AI includes logical reasoning, game playing, information sensing, dialectical processing, and so on. But the disciplines involved are very broad and can not be explained clearly in just a few sentences.

"According to the classification in your proposal, it includes philosophy, cognitive science, mathematics, neurophysiology, psychology, computer science, information theory, cybernetics, indeterminacy, bionics, social structure, and the concept of scientific development. That's at least a total of 12 disciplines.

"This doesn't even take into account the research areas you'll have to cover, which include language learning and processing, knowledge representation, intelligent search, reasoning, planning, machine learning, knowledge acquisition, combinatorial scheduling problems, perceptual problems, pattern recognition, logical programming, soft computing, imprecise and uncertain management, artificial life, neural networks, complex systems, genetic algorithms, and the way humans think. These are nineteen more areas to study.

"It's impossible to do this without decades of research. This is something that only an elite team can do."

After Joseph's calm analysis, he basically understood what kind of artificial intelligence Anderson wanted to create.

If it could really be created, it would indeed be a technology that transcended eras, a technology that could really change the world.

However, Joseph had once led a team and participated in solving all kinds of difficult technological problems. He had worked for decades before he made significant progress.

And now, what Anderson wanted to do was so huge that even he did not have the confidence despite this idea being pitched by a young man who was not even in his twenties.

However, it was already good enough for Anderson to come up with this concept.

Such an outstanding young man, he couldn't ask for more from him.
