Chapter 96 - Chapter 96

There was another troubled night when Coen went to a bar and got hit on by some alluring woman.

They drank martinis until they were no longer sober and reeled through to a hotel room.

Toren, for some reasons he could not understand, followed them despite knowing what might come next. He had been quite desensitized about such protocols that he would not even bother going with him.

He would just usually wait inside the apartment and go on with another day.

However, things were a tad bit different then. Coen had frequently been doing stupid things and memories began seeping in slowly through Toren.

He wanted to be somewhere else than just patiently waiting.

He felt like this was what he was scared of before. Being forgotten at the corner of darkness, believing in some kind of fabricated hope to torture himself a bit longer. He knew all about these.

And when Toren had seen his brother making love with the woman who seduced him, a pang of pain swung near at his forebrain. Then at the middle, then at all parts he could feel. Toren clutched his head, keeling and reeling out of the room.

He would just usually pass through it, but right then, a part of his flesh coincidentally collided at the physical door and pushed it. Coen noticed some kind of a pulsating soul struggling out of the room which made him completely sober.

Probabilities and guesses began swirling up his brain, driving out all the intoxication that the alcohols had splashed in. Coen immediately got up, covered his naked body, and swung open the door.

He looked left and right and vehemently went around near the area, looking for something which he himself is not even sure of.

The woman slithered around him and asked what was going on, but he just pushed her away, as if he was getting irritated by her presence.

After a few minutes, he finally gave up, panting and gasping for air.

His dried throat and weary mind were taking their toll on him. Soon, he returned to the hotel room and drank ice cold water, sobering up and pondering about what might have happened.

And if there was one thing he hated, that would be hope.

Now the same thing was seeping through like an unwelcome guest inside of him, poking at those worries beneath the undertow of his stormy emotion. Coen drove out the infuriated and humiliated woman to let himself think inside that cold and pretty room alone.

And ever since that day, nothing out of the ordinary happened again.

That glitch in reality was the last mistake that the universe had made – if it really was a mistake.

A few more years had passed by again and things around Coen had changed even further while he remained the same.

He was like a frozen image bounded by time, shackled around his own fears and flaws.

He had switched as an assistant researcher, serving a departmental institute. It was in the psychology and chemical laboratory where Toren perceived it all began.

He saw his brother and a Spanish senior scientist and university professor named Pan Ross meet.

Toren felt the imminent ominous aura exuding right from the very beginning of their crossroads linking. After which, everything happened so fast, Toren almost lost where it was supposed to be.

When Professor Ross was dismissed as a scientist after getting caught of illegal practices for his ambitious creations, he turned an establishment he had once bought supposedly for investment into his own private laboratory.

And there, he merely continued his illegal practices and researches with unregistered licenses to his conductions.

Toren thought that his brother would not have to want to do anything with him until it took him by surprise when Coen personally visited the professor and offered his services to him.
