Chereads / A Strange Warfare / Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

A year had already passed since Muren and Airen lived together and a lot of things have changed too except for the slow advancement of the great war. According to the messenger, some of the foreign settlers that were extremely damaged in the country had been repatriated.

Most of them were from the outlands that were slowly recovering from the crossfires of the great war.

However, some conflicts among major continents remained in conflict.

Several cruel practices in the country's West that were colonized had softened a little as few soldiers were dispatched to other places.

The diplomats and government scholars were also being gathered to address the conflicts.

However, since Muren had been blocked in the West, he was denied participation. His opinions and voices were drowned at the sea, bound to be unheard.

He felt hopeless and at those times, a loving hand from a beautiful woman would always reach out.

As long as Airen was there, he had nothing to worry about.

They weren't free yet, though.

Meanwhile, Muren and Airen had finally given birth to a healthy son they named Coen.

During his beloved woman's recovery after childbirth, he took on the burden of being a loving and responsible husband and father.

He put a halt to his activities in the secret organization as a leader and instructed his close members to carry out the missions and prerequisites. There were a few more accepted trustworthy members, missions carried out, and organization accomplishments even during his absence.

He carefully tended to his wife while taking care of Coen.

He'd call for a caretaker when needed, remind of her medicines, cook food for her, and kiss her forehead every gentle and rough night.

Coen, fortunately, did not put on too much fuss during the right times.

He would not suddenly wake up to cry while the guards are rounding and he would not get sick a lot of times. The child needed minimal care and attention with his silent kindness.

It was truly a blessing at those difficult hours.

When Airen had fully recovered, she took on her duties as a mother and let Muren handle the activities of the secret organization.

He summoned the chief editor for a conversation about the accomplishments. He soon completely caught up and returned to arrange the needed items and power they must obtain.

Since it was very difficult to conduct a secret training with all the vigilant guards surrounding their villages every time, even at night, they focused on obtaining materials.

From artilleries to weapons and drugs and stakeouts, they gathered as many resources and information as possible to concoct an effective strategy.

As Coen slowly grows up, the child hints at characteristics of mischievousness and playfulness, but with kindness too.

Muren had especially been quite ecstatic with his son's arrival.

Because of the legal documents they have obtained beforehand, the newborn child was welcomed. He was baptized by the priest according to their religion and underwent the consecrated rituals.

The villagers offered gifts from what little they have, which the couple received with utmost gratefulness and bliss.

Some gave them clothes and robes that were probably outgrown by their own children too.

Some gave milk and medicines to support the baby's health.

Some offered a few coins that might be helpful. And the retired nurses who handled the childbirth also gave discounts for their service.
