The crack in the ground extended from the center of the altar to the exit, with the deepest hole being at the place where the tunnel met the chamber, i.e. the exit from this chamber. Now, water is flooding in from the other side. Xena and Caspian were washed off to either sides, Xena still holding the little white chest.
Caspian held Hammer, and washed off to the other side.
Water drained into the crack first, then towards the hole at the exit. The sea water came in with great force, broke themselves against the altar, then flowed to either side, half draining in to crack, half spreading out creating a strong flow towards the hole at the exit.
There was a gigantic steel chest floating out on this water, dragging an iron chain behind it.
