Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: King

For the next 45 minutes, the same things repeated themselves until only I was left.

There were sorcerers and warriors and thieves and knights.

Though, one question popped up in everyone's minds, what are these ranks.

"The ranks are what determine how fast you can increase your status," Kazillis finally explained after a dozen students had asked him the same question multiple times. "There are 9 ranks: F, E, D, C, B, S, SS, and SSS. These ranks all determine how fast you increase in strength, each one is 5 times faster than the previous rank, so E is 5 times faster than F and D is 25 times faster than F but 5 times faster than E. All heroes are at least C rank as you have witnessed today, each S rank is divided into 3 parts: S-, S, and S+. Each one is 10 times stronger than the previous ranking, same for SS and SSS."

Kazillis explained all of this and the students stood there nodding their heads as he explained.

"Now, we still have one more person to go," Kazillis said abruptly. "After we finish, I will show you all to your rooms where you can eat and rest. Tomorrow you will meet with the king and start training."

He looked at me and I walked towards him and the crystal. As I reached the floating stone, I prayed to any and every god to at least make me decent. I held out my hand and what happened next astonished everyone.

ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOTHING!

Everyone started laughing at me, including the old man in front of me before words appeared over us.

"Class: Peasant. Rank: F," Kazillis said while trying to hold in his laughter. "You have no mana at all."

I turned around to see everyone laughing at me, even some of the guards were snickering. I couldn't understand it, why me? Why is it always me?

I fell to my knees as I felt all the strength in my body leave.

After everyone finished laughing at me and my misfortune, Kazillis took us to our rooms where we could eat and do whatever else we needed.

The technology in this world was very similar to the medieval period on earth other than the hot showers and the toilets.

After I took a shower and ate the steak and potatoes that the maids in the castle had left me, I fell asleep.

The next morning I awoke to the sounds of loud knocking on my door. I got up and walked over to the door to find a maid holding a set of clothes that were tailored to fit me perfectly as well as a bag of bronze coins that I could use on gear or anything else. Apparently, this was my weekly allowance by the king, 25 bronze coins, which was the same as 250 copper coins, 2.5 silver coins, .25 gold coins, and .025 royal coins. The average weekly pay of someone in this kingdom was 50 bronze coins.

According to Kazillis, our allowance was determined based on our rank and class as well as our elemental affinities. Apparently, you could also get other elemental affinities along with your original one, but they wouldn't be nearly as strong or proficient as your original.

After I got dressed I walked out of the room and over to the main hall where I was going to meet up with the other students and Kazillis for our first meeting with the king.

King Tyrion

As I walked I soon met up with the other students that were summoned here with me. Some of them looked as though they had gotten no sleep the night before. Others looked as though they had fallen asleep crying.

There were very few of us that actually looked well-rested, I was not one of them. I had slept absolutely horrible. The reason for this?

My life sucks.

My parents were abusive, I was severely bullied and the only person that I thought had actually cared about me was actually a scheming bastard that had taken advantage of my trust. then I get summoned to this other world where anything is possible, and I'm the weakest of the weak. I have no advantage, nothing.

As I wallowed in self-pity, we casually walked to a set of massive gold and silver doors, Kazillis turned around to address everyone:

"Inside of here, everyone will tell their rank, class, and elemental affinity to the spectators inside. They will have the chance to observe your elemental affinity if you can conjure it. The spectators, other than the king, are here to scout you to see if they deem you worthy of training, they are the strongest adventurers in our kingdom and you all will be mentored by them, well, most of you anyway," he muttered the last part under his breath and threw a glance at me, I heard a few snickers coming from around me and new that I was obviously the only one that wouldn't have a mentor. "Now, you and your mentor will be staying here in the capital of the kingdom while you do your basic training. For those of you that are unlucky enough to have a mentor, you will be doing your basic training with the newly recruited guards."

Once again he glanced at me.

With that, he turned around and pushed open the massive doors that led into the room.

As we walked into the massive white room with gleaming walls and a massive golden throne at the end of the carpeted walkway, I noticed the people of high stature seated on the balconies on the sides of the room and the burly man with a large beard and belly on the throne at the end of the room.

The room itself was about 50 feet high, 75 feet long, and 60 feet wide, the balconies were about 30 feet high and were about 15 feet in width, and spanned the entire length of the room. Each balcony was held by roughly 15 pillars. The burly man on the throne stopped talking to a man that seemed to be his advisor and turned to his guests that had just entered the room:

"Welcome great heroes, please be at ease. As you yourselves are seen equal to myself in these trying times."

As the king said this, many of my fellow students were put at ease and less nervous.

"Please come and introduce yourselves to my court of the mightiest of my heroes in this kingdom, for they shall help lead you to take their places as the strongest HAHAHAHA."

The king bellowed with laughter as his cherry red cheeks got brighter and his belly bounced up and down. The first to do anything was Jason, he turned to look at Kazillis who just nodded at him, Jason walked forward and got down on one knee before the king:

"Greetings, your majesty and his strong warriors, my name is Jason Riles, I am an Elemental Warrior and I have a fire and lava elemental affinity. My rank is S."

As soon a Jason finished talking, many gasps broke out through the hall and Jason smiled as many people from the balconies whispered to themselves.

Jason had accomplished all that he needed to assure that he would have a good standing here.

He turned to look at Ethan and grinned widely as he walked back towards the group.

"You said you would like us to demonstrate our elements if we were able to manifest them, correct?"

Jason asked turning towards Kazillis.

"Yes," he replied.

Jason turned towards the group of his peers behind him and gestured them away from him before spreading out his arms.

WHOOOOSH~

As he spread out his arms a massive wave of crimson shot out of his body in every direction, incinerating the carpet beneath him.

Everyone in the halls mouths was wide open:

"Weren't they just summoned yesterday?"

"How does he already have that much magical power?"

"He must be blessed."

The comments just kept coming as the jolly old fool of a king started bellowing with laughter.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA~~

The entire room literally shook.

"Well done sir, truly magnificent. You are truly gifted," the king looked especially happy with Jason. "I've decided boy, ill mentor, you myself."
