Chapter 1 - Chaos and the tower

The sky was crimson as the sun started to set. The city of Tokyo was dead silent as all of the civilians that lived there were working extra hours to pay off their debts. A new and intimidating corporation known as pentafox corps. Was now taking the jobs of many office workers. Due to the large influx of the product called system technical excelling mass science (stems) these new artificial intelligence devices calculated science known as mass science. This science has thousands of scientists work on one problem that they face to save humanity from all sorts of illnesses. A major breakthrough that started mass science was the desperate cure for cancer. The human race was going extinct with billions dying each day. Before cancer mutated to threaten the human race there were 93 billion people in the world. By the time mass science found a cure the deaths caused were over 75 billion. Companies were desperate to take action to stay in business and made many products that slowed the now contagious cancer that plagued the world. One of the workers at mass science happened to be Frost. He was a big part of curing the plaguing cancer. Though he was one of the best, he got fired due to the corrupt companies who sold the products that slowed the cancer. Frost took his suitcase and started his way towards the elevator when A tall building protruded from the ground causing the mass science building to shake. Frost ran towards the window looking out at the tower that reached past the clouds. The tower was black with weird symbols on it indicating an unknown language. Frost couldn't believe what he was seeing at first so he rubbed his eyes and looked again. It was still just as real as before and resumed his way down the stairs this time so he could get to the bottom faster. While running down the stairs he suddenly remembered something. "That's my house that my sister also lives in!" right where the tower appeared. This made Frost even more anxious to go towards the tower to find out what the heck was happening. While he rushed out the door cars and corpses were littering the streets burning with people running frantically around on fire. Screams and explosions were starting to fade as Frost dropped to his knees with shock. The city he lived his whole life was in flames where he put his life's work into saving. A few minutes passed trying to process the events that just took place. Standing up, tears came from his eyes as he ran towards the tower. Running as fast as he could with anger, confusion, sadness, and hope. Adrenaline coursed through his body going at explosive speeds that surpassed an average human. His muscles were going under high stress as he was going 38 miles an hour. A holographic screen popped up on the side of his vision but he did not take notice as he was too focused on getting to his house. Finally getting to where his house once was he saw what was left. The house was barely recognizable as he only knew the bricks that made up his house were blue. Now that it was just blue rubble with fire here and there burning the furniture he had. His sister was nowhere to be seen in the rubble so he was a little more relieved. But when he remembered that his sister couldn't leave the house due to her incurable illness. He screamed at the top of his lungs in anger. Beating the ground with his fists they started to bleed. Suddenly the holographic screen that he didn't pay attention to before popped up with a list of sentences that took him a second to adjust his eyes to after crying for so long. It read [congratulations you have gained the skill passive skill [berserker]. Would you like to see your status? If so please choose [yes] or [no] to activate it.] Frost looked at the holographic screen with confusion.

"What? Am I hallucinating now?" the screen didn't respond to his inquiries.

Frost was familiar with this screen but didn't think it would pop up in real life. As it was commonly known that what this screen was is a game interface for game characters people would play on. He tapped on the holographic screen where the [yes] option is. Another screen popped up showing his [status]

Why me??? Why do I have to lose the only family I have left!" Frost screams while thinking 'but crying about her death won't change anything either.' looking at the tower once more filled with hate for the huge tower that loomed over him. Then he has an idea 'what if i use [Inspect] on the tower?' glancing at it he says "inspect!" a screen pops up showing the tower's information.

"Although most of the information about the tower is unknown. If I am correct, the more I level up the more I'll be able to find out." Frost said with a frown.

Walking around the tower took 50 minutes and he finally found an entrance. While walking around the tower he saw the chaos of his surroundings. Though there were many people dying around him he knew if he were to try to help they would die from the injuries they had anyway. Looking at the entrance there were 2 giant doors that were wide open with a giant statue that seemed to be guarding it. The statue looked like an angel but it had an axe and shield. People that only played games and read books all day seemed to have expected something like this to happen and grouped up talking to each other as if it was any other day. Frost was surprised at first because of their lack of reaction to the situation and walked over to the group with a confused look. There were mostly teenagers and old men.

But what seemed to be the same was what they were talking about. One of the teenagers greeted Frost with a bow and asked a question "are you here for the tower? We already figured out the system and wanted to fight some monsters to level up." Frost now realized that everyone here were gamers so he decided to blend in to maybe get some information. "Yea. I am here for the tower. Has anyone gone in?" Frost said with a cool and collected tone of voice. "No one has since we saw the giant statue and it looks like It could be a guard to the entrance." the kid said with fear and frustration in his eyes. "Then I'll go in to see if we can enter" Frost says while walking towards the enterince. Then when he was about to enter a notification popped up. [do you want to enter [Tower Of Greed]? [yes] [no] Frost was a bit surprised by the sudden appearance of the screen. But chose [yes] and continued into the [Tower Of greed].
