Grim and Dart were getting comfy inside Marko's room. Too comfy to the point of them not noticing the bartender walking upstairs to bring Grim food.
Marko walked in and saw the baby dragon dancing around the window happily gazing at the sight of the crowd outside.
Grim's expression said it all.
He turned towards Dart, then back to Marko, who was actually pretty calm. The bartender was not surprised at all at the sight of a dragon.
"I see you have already bound your soul with a chimera." Marko said while observing Dart, who stood still, hoping that the bartender would only think it was a doll of some sort. "Still, a dragon is pretty rare, where did you even get to bind and tame this one?"
"Wait…Back up a bit. Why aren't you as surprised as I thought you would be?"
Grim was confused because of how nonchalant Marko was seeing Dart in his room.
"It is a long story, I will tell you after the customers have died down a bit, alright?"
Marko said while placing a tray of food for Grim to eat.
"Oh, we are going to need another plate for your friend over there, it seems."
He said before going downstairs and bringing another spare plate back up.
"Eat well, kid. You too, dragon."
Marko made himself scarce with a smile after saying that.
Grim Fenris wiped the sweat off of his forehead and sighed.
"You really did not hear the guy walk upstairs?"
Grim asked Dart in a confrontational tone.
"I was focusing outside, you can't blame me!"
Dart responded with his tongue out.
After the pair have eaten, Grim took a nap while Dart was still looking out of the window, this was his first time seeing this many people.
"Look, Grim! Plenty of elves down there too!"
Dart pointed out.
Grim did not respond as he was trying to focus on his nap.
Dart roamed around the room tirelessly, trying to find what else he was going to play with next.
He stumbled upon a portrait of a younger version of Marko, together with a middle aged elven man.
"Hey, Grim! Look! Is this your grandfather?"
Dart climbed on top of Grim's bed and jumped on top of his stomach until he woke up.
"Ouch! What's the big idea?!"
Dart had awoken Grim Fenris up just as he was about to fall into the gentle and serene place where people go as they slept.
"Look! This guy next to Marko sort of looks like an aged up version of you."
Dart said while pointing to the portrait.
Grim sat up and took the portrait and observed it.
"There's no doubt about it, this is grandpa. Just how did he and Marko know each other?"
Grim's curiosity jolted him awake and removed his drowsiness as he waited for the bartender to come back upstairs.
He had so many questions that he wanted to have answered.
As the sun went down, nighttime came.
Heavy footsteps were heard from down below, just for precaution, Grim asked Dart to hide under the bed.
The door was opened by none other than Marko.
"Hey! Where's the other guy?"
He said while looking for Dart.
"Come out, Dart."
Grim said. Afterwards, Dart leaped out of the bed straight into Marko's chest, sending the well-built middle aged man flying.
"Woah. Woah. Easy there…"
Marko said while laughing.
"You might wonder why I am not afraid of your tamed chimera, isn't that right, Grim?"
Marko turned his gaze at the clueless young elven tamer still sitting on his bed.
"Y-Yeah. I mean who wouldn't be surprised?"
Marko chuckled.
"I see that you have seen the portrait of me and your grandfather together. I placed it here because I knew that you would be coming here after he passed away."
Marko said with a hint of sadness on his face.
"How come I never saw you at the funeral, then?"
Grim asked.
"Allow me to explain myself, Grim. Believe me, it is going to be a long one."
Marko cleared his throat as he pulled out a seat from underneath his desk table.
"I know the first thing you want to know is the location or whereabouts of your parents, correct?"
Grim nodded.
"Well, that is going to have to wait, as they are both away on a reconnaissance mission as of now. Actually, they have been gone for months now, I suspect they have not even known of your grandfather's passing…"
"A-A reconnaissance mission? Why would they be doing missions? And for who?!"
Grim Fenris was even more confused now than he had ever been ever since stepping his feet on Midgard.
"Your parents and your grandfather are a part of the Luna Wolves. An elite group of people handpicked by the King himself to carry out various tasks ranging from assassinations down towards scouting missions. All for the purpose of keeping Vanheim safe."
Marko said as he took a sip off of the beer bottle he came in with.
Dart slowly but surely attempted to take lick off of the bottle just to know what it tasted like. Marko quickly pulled it back before the baby dragon could ever manage to do what he sought out to.
"I've never heard of such a group existing and under the command of the King himself…My parents were elves! Why were they chosen to be members of such an elite group?"
Grim raised his voice.
"You think so little of elves, Grim. Half of the Luna Wolves' members are elves."
Marko's words made Grim both excited and uneasy at the same time.
"I am guessing you have already seen the chimeras roaming about in this world once again. Seeing as how you have already bounded with one."
Marko said as he looked at Dart.
Dart tried to force an obedient smile.
But it just came out all wrong and creepy instead.
"So, my parents left me to join some sort of shady cutthroats under the command of the King? Tch."
Grim was annoyed at what he heard.
