The heated battle between the Chief and the masked Hunter suddenly went stagnant as Ezesinachi saw Dov's whole body suddenly flinch as his senses were tingling due to something. The Hunter then lowered his gun and looked away toward the direction of where Celene was.
"Seems like they're finished."
"They?" Ezesinachi got a bit confused since Dov out of nowhere stopped attacking him. But of course, he didn't waste an opening like this and quickly launched himself for the kill.
Sadly the only opening created from that attempt was toward himself. And Dov gracefully took it with his knee, kicking him harshly in the lower guts. Then within a split second, the back of the Hunter's foot bashed him right on his face, crushing him to the ground.
"You wouldn't think I would be so foolish to let my guard down wouldn't you, my lord?" Dov put his attention back at Ezesinachi, with his gun aimed back towards his metal masked face. "There are reasons why there's exist a rank beyond Professional Hunter."
Yet before Dov was about to shoot his bullets, his left hand rose with his fingers snapped. [Shield of Corvus]s suddenly circled around him, densely painting the air with their thick shades of purple.
Rains of bolts came a moment after and knocked themselves raining onto those shields. The dark elf soldiers were launching their advance to help their Chief. However, none of them dare to move any closer due to their cowardice.
"Tck… I really can use Celene's passive right now."
As we all know, when an adventurer reaches level 51, they'll receive a [Personal Skill] and a [Passive Personal Skill]. Celene has already been appointed as a Hunter when she reached that milestone, so she gained something that will help her in her duty as one.
Along with her [Howlless Night], she acquired a passive, namely [Night Hunt]. This passive will stop anyone from attempting to help her target, as long as there is no sun around. That's the reason why her duel with the Commander went uninterrupted (until the vampiress came).
Meanwhile for Dov…
"Should I just shoot them? Will they lose all their motivation if I do that? Will they start fleeing?" He thought to himself. He seems to be rather careful with who he should personally kill at the moment.
On the other hand, Ezesinachi was already back on his feet with a dagger in each hand. He quickly crossed his arm before his face, and purple flames began to light profusely on the blade of both daggers.
[Personal Skill]
[3rd Act]
"Parade of Daggers!"
With power, he then threw both of them, and they flew at a speed which even hard for Hunter's eyes to see. Flickers of purple light began sparkling all over the [Shield of Corvus], damaging them harshly, till they shattered like glass.
"Not so though are we now, Hunter!?" Ezesinachi screamed in madness, you can feel the frustration in his voice. He then pulled out his glaive back to his hands, spinning them wildly, scrapping the ashen ground around him. His weapon is now coated in purple fury.
[2nd Act]
"Viper's Madness!"
The fury on his blade turned into a giant snake, and it hastefully coursed towards Dov's direction. Its hiss eerily pierced the air, sending waves of fear to anyone around it. Unfortunately, that kind of mental attack won't work on Dov.
[Lineage Skill]
"Purge."
Once again Dov pulled the trick of his bloodline and touched the viper with his index finger. In an instant, that terrifying giant snake perished to nonexistent. A huge shockwave burst because of how much energy that snake possessed, cleaning all the dust created by the destroyed [Shield of Corvus].
"Oh All-father…" The Chief and all the dark elves witnessing that sight had their jaws dropped, completely flabbergasted by how fast Dov erased that skill. He looked fucking untouchable.
"Well well [Perfect Stab]… that's a nice passive you got there." Dov complimented as he moved menacingly closer to the Chief. "It prevents your skill from missing its target, you can also control them to move anywhere you please."
"Too bad it didn't apply to your normal attacks." Dov aimed his gun straight at Ezenachi's head, at a terrifyingly close distance. Unless the Chief move, that gun will surely penetrate his brain. Yet the poor dark elf was still in shock by the demonstration of Dov's prowess in combat.
But when all hope is gone, the loud steps of someone running could be heard approaching closer and closer. Though Dov didn't seem to care about it and decide to go on with his endeavor to claim his prize.
*Whack!*
However, that steps were pointed directly at him, and now he got himself pushed by someone charging at him with their body.
The clash forced Dov's reaction, he quickly redirect his aim and shoved it into the attacker's belly. *Bang!* and a sound of a gunshot echoed through everyone's ears.
With a noise of a woman grunting alongside it.
"Huh…?"
It was Emilohi.
"Mother? Mother!" Ezinachi screamed, calling onto the poor lady who just gotten shot. While at it, Dov swiftly fled from the scene.
As he threw his metal mask, the Chief quickly crawled to the wounded Prioress, hugging her onto his lap. "No, mother… why!? Why are you doing this!?" Tears started raining down his eyes, as the sight of a mother bleeding from her belly was too much for a son to handle.
"I'm sorry, Ezinachi… but I can't watch the two of you… fighting with one another…" Blood went coughed from her mouth as her bleeding and breathing got worst with each second passed.
"Healer! Healer! Someone get me a healer!" The Chief shouted at the top of his lungs, yet the elves can only dash in panic, they couldn't find a single healer, not one that is alive.
"I… I poisoned them… but I just… I don't have the strength to finish it." Her cough got harsher and harder to hear. "They seem like good kids… eating with them… reminded me of having you… home."
"No No No! Mother! You can't die! There are still so many— so many things I wanted to show you… to do with you…" Ezenachi's body shooked profusely, he started to lose all the feeling of his muscle from all the stress pilling in his mind.
"You should stop, Ezenachi… stop hating demons… stop hating humans… don't wage war… don't lose yourself… like your… fa… ther—" With that, Emilohi blew her last breath, putting an end to her death clock.
The sky roared that night, as the Chief screamed till his throat broke, piercing the shrine atmosphere with his voice. He went on and on calling onto his mother, making millions of promises, saying he will do what she wishes and stop his plan of extinguishing the humans.
Although it was a menace trying to hear it. His broken throat made it so difficult to grasp what he was saying. Yet even then, everyone there could understand everything, including the masked Hunter himself.
Who was now standing right beside him, with his gun glued to the poor elf's head.
"Sorry my lord, none of your promises will happen. My mission… is clear."
His gun began to shine, burnt by the raging purple fire. The blue eyes on his mask glowed like the twilight sun. Glaring at him like a Hunter he is.
[Weapon Skill]
"Devourer."
Mists of energy burst from his gun, forming themselves into a gigantic black bear's head, with its mouth opened wider than Dov's entire height.
Then in a single chomp, it devoured the Chief whole.
Sending him perished, without a single trace left.
