I didn't expect Eila to betray me as she snatch away the staff of our Eyegon from my grasp. Her eyes were full of fury and she was ready to strike me, but I quickly pull out the magic that we use to create our shield from her attack.
A spell I never thought I would have to cast. I'm glad to learn something about myself from this day.
The shield only lasted for a few minutes before disappearing. The other two had no idea what is happening. So instead of attacking, they run back into the castle and I let them go. They will return with reinforcements soon enough.
My hands are trembling in pain as I look down at the sword. It's just a piece of metal, nothing more than a weapon that can be easily broken. Yet, it felt heavier than usual, like there are invisible chains holding me in place. I don't want to do this anymore.
