The words reverberated in Kiyoshi's mind.. responsibilities.. unable to continue..
'What could this mean'
Rall'guud continued, "I have lived a full life as a Demon Lord and many creatures have died personally by my hands. But alas as goes the saying live by the sword and die by the sword I was recently slain. I hang on only to answer your questions in the hopes that the Demon territory which is now your own can stand firm against the onslaught of the races of this world."
'This sounds like real power' the idea made Kiyoshi flush with excitement and nervousness.
"Unfortunately I know not who has slain me, while I have my suspicions I'll keep them to myself. Luckily for you the Goddess Ariana who controls this world cares not which race ends up triumphant in the war and only that the war continues. This is why I have been allowed to summon a champion of my choice..you. It seems that even the Gods must have their entertainment."
Always the forward thinker Kiyoshi muttered, "well maybe you should've just killed the goddess then".
"As you just responded it seems I made a very wise choice indeed. The title of Demon Lord is not to be held lightly. I have evaluated many potential individuals and settled on you for a variety of reasons DemonAmongHumans."
'He knows my IGN!? Is that why he chose me?'
"I have seen many of your demonic exploits while you are at home in secrecy and know that you have the cunning and tenacity to fulfill this role. As a token of my appreciation I leave you some advice. Tell no one you were once human you were the best choice but some of my old subordinates might not see it that way and never trust the Goddess."
"As the new Demon Lord with a new identity you must have a new name to go with it. Because of your previous name of Demon AmongHumans you will be named "Dah'guud" please use this name from now on."
Ral'guud offered a slight nod of the head, "This is all I have to offer you. As a token of my appreciation please accept all the power that I have the ability to grant you."
With this statement he begins fading away..
A dark orb slowly floats from where Ral'guud was standing and seems to be absorbed into Kiyoshis chest. A sudden feeling of power begins to well up within his chest but then fades.
"Wait" cried Kiyoshi, "I still have many questions for you!"
But Ral'guud was gone.
Annabelle instead spoke up, "Any other questions you may have I'm sure your minister can answer Dah'guud."
'I really don't want to be called Dah'guud'
"I would like to be called Dah. No need for formalities"
Without hesitation Annabelle replied that Dah wouldn't be a problem as long as it wasn't a formal occasion.
"Please bring me to the minister at once"
…
The minister was a demon on the shorter and more rotund side. He did not smile as you approached.
"I was informed by Ral'guud that not only was he summoning a human as our hero but he was going to make him the new Demon Lord."
Eyeing Dah'guud up and down he mumbled, "At least he looks the part."
"Ral'guud told you? He informed me in his message to not tell anyone"
The minister snorted, "well at least he was able to have some wisdom in his final moments. If word got out that a human was the new Demon Lord our forces would implode and the beastmen who have been pressing for an advantage already would overwhelm us in a matter of weeks if not days."
'Beastmen I wonder how many races there are in this world'
"I would like to know more about the races of this world and what the status is of this castle and the surrounding lands"
For the first time the minister smiled, "Maybe Ral'guud had his reasons after all…"
Dah grunted an intense pain suddenly in his chest. He struggled to breath as he fell to his knees. Slamming on the ground with his palms desperate for an escape from the agony his mind and body went numb as he succumbed into darkness.
Annabelle and the minister looked at each other.
"Ral'guud did have a lot of power and the process to obtain such power was a heavy price to pay."
"So it begins…" Annabelle murmured. "By the time you wake up you will be our new and true demon lord."
Her eyes gleamed with excitement as she picked up his body with a strength that belied expectation and carried him back to his bedroom.
