I woke up to the setting sun rays. I could feel my body being less painful, I was covered with lots of bandages. I realized that I was sleeping on a bed with unfamiliar surroundings. I recalled that while I was on the verge of falling down I saw an oldman coming towards him and feeding something.
I got up and tried to walk, it felt like I had almost recovered. I had white gown on top of my body and I could still feel that I was wearing the same pants of the previous day. I could see my pocket had a little bulge.
After lifting the gown I could see the pants were cut till the knees and I realized the bullet wound still has the same bandage which I wrapped. I calmed down after seeing that, only the burnt marks on my legs, hands and the back were bandaged.
I tried to open the bandage on the leg and I could see it was healed. It looked as if it was new. I was astounded by this discovery.
I removed all the bandages and only to see all the burnt marks were healed, the broken leg was fixed, only the back was hurting a bit. I started tying them again as I wanted to know about the situation I'm in before making any plan to escape.
I checked the pocket and realized I still had the broken ruby which was given by father, it had a faint glow at the center. I looked at it and wowed to get revenge for my father by making the man who killed him penniless.
After keeping the ruby in the pocket I walked towards the door and opened it. I saw a huge ground with lots of swings, slides and more than 20 children of various ages were playing around. I started looking around, I saw a ten feet tall wall with security wires, a water tank on the right side and a dining hall and a few doors to other rooms on the left side.
While he was immersed in thoughts 2 kids who were very small came to him running. The girl who came first started blabbering.
"Hi! I'm longe'r and what's your name? I'm 8 years old, what about you? You have been unconscious for more than 2 days, the crazy oldman fed you some disgusting liquids which you were drinking happily in sleep. How can you drink them? Did you find them tasty?
We have so many things to play with. I'll introduce all of my friends in the orphanage. They love me a lot. Whenever they see me they will give me tasty candies. I hope you will also give me one and play with me. Brother you didn't tell me your name, are you listening to me, do you want to play. Let's go."
She started dragging me out of the corridor. I was astounded by this girl's proactiveness, she didn't even know me and was dragging me around as she has known me for a long time.
I got to know a bit about my current situation from the girl's words, currently I'm in the orphanage and I had been unconscious for more than two days. I have been saved by the oldman who is the warden of this Orphanage. The other kid was still following behind us. I thought of making a conversation to get to know more.
"Hey, where are you taking me? Who is the guy following us?".
Long'er stopped and told " this is my stupid brother his name is Tian, everyone in the orphanage calls him little tian. Let's go, I'll introduce everyone in the orphanage. The crazy oldman who fed you is called --- I forgot his name just call him crazy old man.
There are more than 30 people in the orphanage. Few go to the college and few go to schools all around the orphanage. There are few who work part time and bring us lots of chocolates and candies. I and my brother study in the schools near us.
Long'er started telling about the various brothers and sisters in the orphanage. She took me towards the swings and slides and started sliding with me. No matter how I looked, this girl looked extremely active as she was talking non stop. Little tian was always standing stupidly beside us.
I suddenly heard the sound of people walking towards us. I found an oldman whose face was filled with kindness similar to the one whom I saw while I was falling unconscious. I realized he was the one who saved me.
Long'er saw the oldman and started running off while calling out "crazy oldman came back." Tian followed behind her. I was only left behind.
I looked towards him and bowed. He came to me and said " Kid, how are you feeling? I was able to save you because of your tenacity, you had burns all over your body and a large wound at your back. Take rest for some time, you have been unconscious for the past two days. You can come and speak with me after having dinner." After saying that, the oldman went on his way.
