The branch of Adventurers' Association, Kellar Region.
Kal was sitting in a room with a cup of red wine in his hand. Two men were in front of him.
One was sitting on a sofa like him, he was 1.7 meters (5'7") tall, and had a clean face with black raven hair along with a lean figure, marking him as a non-warrior. He was wearing a white robe that had a black insignia of a lotus. The insignia of the Crevas Family. One of the Kellar region's city lords.
A man of a muscular build was standing beside the Crevas, he was 1.8 meters (5'11") tall, had a long sword strapped on his back, and was wearing metal plate armor.
On the sofa, situated in the middle of Kal and Crevas, was where the Vice Head of the Association of the Kellar branch, Mados, was sitting.
"My son has recently been promoted to the A-class and is among the top of A-class adventurers. I think it would be better if he is allowed to take this S-class quest and prove himself." Crevas said.
For a while, Kal and Crevas were having a heated debate on who should take the S-class quest. Kal said that Zephyr could do it better and was waiting for the test, whereas Crevas was arguing how his son, Sentaur Crevas, was one of the top A-class adventurers and would be better suited.
"And I say we wait for the results of my champ, he will show you what he can do himself." Kal wouldn't back out from the debate at all.
"Why waste our time on a fool's errand? How many people out there become an S-class adventurer after the first test?"
Mados was having a hard time hearing the fight of grown-up men.
In his long career, a fight of words was less entertaining and more annoying.
"How about we wait for Zephyr's test results before deciding anything?" Mados chimed in and left his seat before getting any reply.
He walked into the corridor followed by the others and headed towards the VIP room where one could see the tests being conducted.
............
Rio waited for his test to arrive and was watching a few of the test matches going on.
Most of the people would go to the ground and name their profession or what they're good at.
In Galen, professions were what they sounded like, people could choose to be Mages, Warriors, Archers, Knights, Thieves, etc.
The people applying for the test were supposed to battle the mentor of their respective professions. If you perform well, you passed the test and got assigned a class, if you defeated the mentor then you got the class your mentor was.
You can use any weapon you'd like and any protection, giving the rich the upper hand, or so they thought as the more equipment you use, the more your results will degrade.
A man walked into the stage now, he was wearing no armor but was holding a hammer in his hand as his weapon.
His mentor assigned was a warrior with a bulky build of about 1.85 meters (6'1") tall, he was holding a shield and a sword in his hands.
The shield could cover half of the mentor and the sword was his arm's length.
The participant went head-on to fight the mentor with his hammer raised.
"Scorching fire burning heat volcanic smash!" The man said, making the audience laugh their ass off at the ridiculous name.
'Isn't that just a beginner-level Hammer Smash?' Rio thought, while not being able to control his laughter.
The mentor was flabbergasted by the naming sense of the participant and used the shield to defend against the beginner's attack. The mentor pushed the man away with his shield.
The man dropped to the ground, bottom first, just before the mentor said. "E-Class just because of your raw strength, maybe you can work more on your tactics and naming sense."
The whole audience started laughing at the man's expense.
After that, a few more people gave the test one after the other, most of them were B-Class, with two people being A-Class and the rest being C-Class or D-Class. The majority were Warriors and occasional Mages and other professions, Mages were still the rarest as the study of magic was hard.
Soon, time flew by and Rio's test arrived. One of the mentors stood up and called for his name.
"Mister Zephyr, if you are here, please come to attend the test."
Rio left his seat and flew towards the stage with speed and landed softly in front of the mentor.
The audience and the mentor were both curiously watching a man wearing a mask, who seemed to be a mage but had no wand. In Galen, wands were the most prized equipment for the Mages. Wands could be used to focus their mana to conjure a spell or store spells in their crystals.
There were very few Mages who wouldn't use a wand, most of them couldn't afford them, others won't need them. So which one was he?
"Please let us know which weapon you will use."
Rio moved his hand behind his back and took out the gun. The reason why Rio always kept his gun out of the storage ring is, Dimensional sealing arrays make the rings useless.
The mentor was flabbergasted seeing the gun.
One of the people in the audience seat started to say. "I never imagined someone would use those primitive weapons." Most of the audience didn't know what a gun was and started to ask the man about it.
"But I will not use it," Rio said. He knew well the more artifacts he used, the more his results would deteriorate and he wouldn't be able to argue if someone tries to reduce his marks.
"So what will you use?"
"Nothing." Rio's reply brought out many comments from the audience seat.
The Mentor nodded and proceeded to ask the next question. "What profession do you belong to and which rank are you competing for?"
"Mage Warrior, S-Class." Rio's reply caused an uproar in the seats. There were very few people in the world who were Mage Warriors, as they must be proficient in both magic and martial arts. And someone being an S-Class on their entry test was near unheard of.
Still, no one could say for sure that the masked man, Zephyr will become an S-Class.
"Very well." The Mentor did his job and called the Mage Mentor, who was an S-Class.
"As we don't have a Mage Warrior, so we will have a Mage Mentor fight you." The mentor said before leaving the ground.
A female wearing a red robe entered the ground with a staff in her hand. She was 1.68 meters (5'6") tall, with a slender build, and had few rings in her hand.
"Please enlighten me." Rio said before his hands were covered with cyan mist.
"Let's begin!" the Mentor said and struck the ground with her staff before all the crystals in her wand lit up to form an array.
