"Are you feeling better now?" asked Emilio as he drove me home after work, and I nodded.
"Yeah yeah I'm fine. Are you okay?"
"A lot better yeah." he responded, and I hummed then we fell into another round of silence before he spoke up and said, "look uh, Marianna, you do not have to worry about carrying my children or any of that okay? I respect your decisions and your wishes. Kids or no kids, ring or no ring, nothing will ever change my love for you."
"Thank you." I said smiling on the outside, but truly at the mention of him no longer wanting to marry me in the far unseeable future did kind of tug on the strings of my heart, and not in a good way, "yeah umm let's just focus on our careers and our selves. I mean we're still young so who will have time to chase after kids and change diapers, and who even wants to have a stupid wedding right? Haha."
