As much as Lady Melissa believed and respected the Shayla estate's personal doctor, she just couldn't bring herself to believe that Sophia was in perfect health.
All kinds of questions regarding Sophia's health had appeared in her head.
'If Sophia was truly fine, then why was her forehead so hot?'
'Is he even a proper doctor?'
'This won't do; I'll have to find another doctor.'
The doctor had already left the estate, so he wouldn't know if Lady Melissa called for another doctor.
"Derick! Come here, please!"
"Yes, Lady Melissa. I shall go upstairs."
Derick quickly went upstairs to the location where Lady Melissa was currently in.
Lady Melissa slowly approached Derick whispering to his ear.
"I need you to find another doctor for me, without anyone knowing and quick."
"Pardon me, Lady Melissa, but for what reason ought we need another doctor? The family doctor had already come and gave a diagnostic on Sophia's condition."
"To be quite frank, I'm a little doubtful of his abilities. So I would be grateful if you could find another doctor to come into the Shayla estate quickly and without anyone finding out if possible, please."
"Alright, Lady Melissa, I'll try my best."
Derick quickly ran to try his best to find a doctor in just a few minutes. After all, it was an order from his mistress.
How could he ignore such an order?
'Now that's aside, and maybe I should stay with Sophia? She must be lonely, and I'm afraid her condition might worsen.'
After a few more seconds of deciding whether Lady Melissa should stay with Sophia or not, she decided that it wouldn't hurt to just stay with Sophia and see how she was doing.
Lady Melissa quickly ran towards the guest room Sophia was currently allocated in.
Lady Melissa barged into the room, hoping that Sophia's condition hadn't worsened or that she wasn't in any kind or form of discomfort.
Much to Lady Melissa's relief, Sophia was perfectly fine. And it hadn't looked like her condition had worsened.
Though just to double-check, Lady Melissa approached Sophia. She put her hand on Sophia's forehead, checking whether Sophia's temperature was okay now or if it was still hot.
Much to Lady Melissa's relief and joy, it had seemed like Sophia's temperature had gone down; Sophia's temperature was less hot.
Though it was still quite hot, it was less hot than how it had initially been when the Shayla estate doctor was there.
Lady Melissa was now less worried, though she was still, of course, worried for Sophia's condition.
After all, how could Lady Melissa not be?
Sure, maybe if it were another person like another maid or servant, Lady Melissa wouldn't worry as much, but this was one of Lady Melissa's most trusted companions who was even beheaded for being loyal to Lady Melissa till the very end.
That was one of the main reasons why Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla was so set on trying to keep Sophia alive and healthy.
Besides, Lady Melissa had genuinely seen Sophia as a friend and Sophia was someone Lady Melissa could absolutely trust,Lady Melissa Mendy had never once felt discomfort when talking to Sophia.
No matter what, Sophia had to survive.
No matter what, Lady Melissa would try to find a way, for Sophia to survive.
After all, Sophia's basically sacrificed her life for Lady Melissa till the very end, so this time it was Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla's turn to sacrifice herself for Sophia.
This was the least Lady Melissa could do.
Lady Melissa was snapped out of her thoughts the moment she heard a few knocks on the door.
"Lady Melissa here's the doctor. She'll try to see Sophia's condition and supervise."
"Thank you, Derick. You may leave now. Here doctor, please come in."
"Alright, nice to meet you."
"I would like you to check and diagnose this friend of mine. She was absolutely fine a few hours ago, but now she's burning hot, and when I tried to wake her up, she didn't react nor respond at all."
"Hmm....I'll have a check. Please give me a few minutes, and I'll tell you my diagnostic by then."
"Alright, thank you, doctor."
Lady Melissa then went to one of the four corners of the room to observe the doctor, and she didn't want to interrupt the doctor.
'I hope Sophia wakes up soon.'
'What if she dies?'
'It's all my fault if Sophia dies.'
'SNAP OUT OF IT!'
Lady Melissa pinched her cheeks, and she needed to snap herself out of all of her pessimistic thoughts.
She was doing so well so far, believing in herself and having a calm composure. Even though it was quite a stressful situation, she couldn't break down now.
She could break down when Sophia had woken up or something, but just not now.
"I've come to a diagnostic."
Lady Melissa quickly came closer to the doctor after hearing her words.
"Yes...? Please continue, doctor."
"Nothing is wrong with your friend, and she's perfectly fine. Her pulse and bloodstream are all at regular intervals."
"Then why did she fell asleep? So much so that I couldn't even wake her up?"
"Your friend is probably overworked. Well, that's my guess, at least. Or your friend has gone through some mentally tiring things. Or maybe perhaps she's gone through some traumatic events these past few days? And the events probably took a toll on her mental health and well-being."
"W-what? Really?"
All her worries had been for nothing then.
The situation wasn't as serious as Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla had initially thought.
