Chapter 18 - Chapter 18

After a few more minutes of convincing the maid that Lady Melissa was completely alright and fine, the maid reluctantly agreed with Lady Melissa's wishes. Her worries weren't completely gone, but she couldn't help it; if Lady Melissa was going to try and convince her this hard, then she should at least play along.

"Now, what time is it?"

Lady Melissa had utterly forgotten about the time, and she was too busy dealing with her nightmare and the maid.

"It's 10 AM, Lady Melissa."

The maid answered Lady Melissa's question.

"WHATTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT?10AM????????WHY DIDN'T YOU WAKE ME UP EARLIER? OH MY G-D, I'M LATE FOR BREAKFAST, AND I SKIPPED MY LESSONS?"

Lad

Lady Melissa now was INCREDIBLY worried, and she initially did not regret drinking too much wine, but now? She was mortified.

'Note to self; don't drink too much wine.'

Lady Melissa made sure to note that down in her head.

"Well, you see, Lady Melissa, I was trying to wake you up just now, but you couldn't wake up even when I had shouted and shaken your body multiple times. And don't worry about your lessons or breakfast; once the Duke and Duchess heard about you sleeping in late, they had canceled all of Lady Melissa's plans for the day.

They said that your health was the most important thing and that it was okay to skip every once in a while for your well-being."

Lady Melissa was overjoyed after hearing such news. She could finally take a break from all the hectic things that had recently happened.

"Is that so? I'll thank them myself after showering. You may leave."

"Yes, I will go now, Lady Melissa."

Lady Melissa couldn't get used to maids helping her shower. It was just so weird to her as in her past life t they had always looked down on her in her past life, so she showered herself.

Though she wouldn't complain, the maids were good at massaging, and they had always chosen the best lotion and scents for Lady Melissa to use.

All her stress was gone when she showered; thus, her shower could take hours. Though she didn't mind, she would shower by herself when she had to rush, only taking a few minutes.

Lady Melissa walked down the stairs looking straight ahead into the dining room before greeting her parents.

"Good morning Mother, Good Morning Father."

"Good morning to you too Melissa, I heard that you woke up late today? I canceled the lessons you had so you can rest."

"I wanted to say thank you for canceling the lessons. It has been a hectic week for me. And thank you for allowing me to rest."

"It's no problem, dearie! Now sit down, and let's eat together."

Melissa's mouth was open, and it was almost as if there was saliva dripping out of her mouth seeing the steak. It looked so delicious.

"This is all for me?"

Lady Melissa questioned her parents as the piece of steak was the biggest she had seen before.

"Yes, we figured that you were hungry and asked the chef to increase the portions for you; besides, you're all skin and bones, you need to eat more."

"THANKS AND I'LL MAKE SURE TO EAT MORE NOW!"

It wasn't that Lady Melissa didn't eat a lot, she had a fast metabolism, and Lady Melissa had worked out every day for hours. That was her secret to being so thin and fit.

Lady Melissa shouted; before her parents could even reply, she took a bite of steak.

'MMMMM THIS IS DELICIOUSSSSSSSSS'

Those words kept repeating in Lady Melissa's head. Well, what was she supposed to think when the steak was so delicious.

Lady Melissa gobbled down the steak in a matter of minutes, leaving her parents in silence. They hadn't even gotten a bite of their food, yet Lady Melissa had already finished hers.

"Mom, Dad, why aren't you eating?"

"Don't worry dearie, We're already full just by seeing you eat; We're happy seeing you eat so much, though next time, don't eat too fast. You might choke on the food."

"I'm done eating, and I'll go to the streets today if it's okay?"

"Yeah, though, make sure to come back before 5 PM; we want you to eat dinner with us. And don't forget to bring the guards with you."

Lady Melissa didn't want to go to the streets just for sight-seeing, she needed to buy some weapons for self-defense, and her sword had been rusty, deciding that she needed to switch it for a new one.

"Okay, I'll make sure to bring them with me; I'll be back before 5 PM; see you later!"

Lady Melissa waved goodbye to her parents before returning to her room and taking some gold coins with her; she took the Shayla jewelry red sapphire necklace too, just in case there were going to be some people who belittled her.

Deciding she was ready, she took one of the Shayla families' carriages and set off to the streets.

"Lady Melissa, why do you want to go to the streets? Do you have something important you need to do here?"

The maid questioned Lady Melissa.

"Don't worry about it. All you need to do is stay in the carriage, and I'll be back within a few hours."

And then Lady Melissa ran out of the running carriage, and the maid was left speechless.

'What do I do now?'

'Should I trust Lady Melissa's words and wait for her in a few hours?'

'What if she gets kidnapped?'

The maid was left all alone, and she had to sort out her thoughts.

While Lady Melissa was having the time of her life! Buying all kinds of street food that she had never eaten before was delicious; however, they could not compare to Shayla's family chef.

Lady Melissa walked around the streets seeing all kinds of people, from nobles to peasants. They were all having a fun time purchasing and selling goods.

Until she had stumbled into a shop that sold items such as swords, daggers, and bows, Lady Melissa stopped and went inside the weapons shop.

"Miss, I don't think this place is for a gal like you; you should go back to marrying some old men."

The employee had thought she was perhaps a lower-class noblewoman.

Lady Melissa was beyond pissed now, and she had forgotten the feeling of being belittled these past few days. And here lo and behold was a man belittling her.

Lady Melissa sighed; men never learn, do they?

"I am Lady Melissa Mendy Shayla of the Shayla estate, and she then took out the necklace that she had placed in her neck.

She glared at the man.

"Are you saying that the Shayla estate does not have enough money? That I, as a Lady of the Shayla estate, has to go so far to marry a man just for money? That woman couldn't wield swords and daggers? When they are just as talented as men?"

At this point, the guy knew he screwed up really, really badly.

"Lady Melissa, don't worry. I was just joking!"

The employee was trying his best to convince Lady Melissa that he was joking, but it was to no avail as Lady Melissa didn't buy it.

"Call your boss now!"

Lady Melissa's stern tone made the employee piss himself, and this was the SHAYLA estate he had offended! One of the founding families of the country he was living in right now.

'What do I do now?'

'I have no choice but to comply with her wishes.'

The employee went, and the shop's boss had come out in a few minutes, bowing down his head.

"I'm so sorry for my employee's mistakes, Lady Melissa, you may punish him however you seem fit, and you may take any weapon you want for free."

'Hmmm, I was actually planning to imprison the employee, but this isn't that bad of an offer.'

"Fine, I'll let you go for now, but I want to choose all the best weapons you have; take them out now!"

"Yes, please give me a moment, Lady Melissa."

Lady Melissa seated herself in the guest room, reading a newspaper. Her legs were cris crossed.

Lady Melissa skimmed through the news articles that were there before choosing a few articles regarding the Crown Prince.

She was bored, and what better way than spending her time reading some articles? She wanted to see all the gossip regarding him.

'The Dazzling Crown Prince wins another war yet again!'

'The Crown Prince's handsomeness is a sight to behold.'

'The Crown Prince raises money for the homeless!'

Now Lady Melissa was beyond enraged, and these articles were all false. The Crown Prince wasn't even doing anything in the war. He was just there watching both the enemy and his soldiers fight in a faraway place.

The second title? Well, it was half true, he was indeed handsome, but his personality was complete shit.

In the third article Lady Melissa was just REALLY pissed off as the Crown Prince had never even given money to the homeless. It was all a stunt for the public.
