As Trin left the memory lane which has suspended her adrift since she resurrected, she woke up on her bed and later went to the bath tub and took her bath, she brushed her teeth and spilled into the glass basin while looking at her unkept hair that were as twisted as nuts. She hasn't combed since the hospital because she's been feeling a slight headache and her hair ensured to display the true essence of a virgin hair that it is. she took the privilege to comb it but most of the time she held the roots with one hand so as not incur much pain but that didn't stop her from making a pain anticipation bitter expression. clusters fell off her hair, she's lost a fair part of it and she of course blames it on her condition but her said condition she thinks is natural and never apportioned blames to any divine entity or human just like a typical earthling would do.
She went back in and just as she was drying her body with a towel her phone shone up, it was a text from her gmail and the sender was shows as the hospital she once got quarantined. Her heart skipped a thousand beats as she reached for it, she mistook on typing her password more than thrice and she got pissed off, she then used both hands to gesturize a trying to be calm mood as she swooshes air through a whistle-like aperture and then typed her password slowly as it opens to her utter disappointment but delight. She had thought that it was a bad news and she may have been summoned to be reinstated into her quarantine room but she's been asked to come over to the hospital and fill some documents which will be submitted to John Hopkins hospital USA. Although gamble has failed her a couple of times, she has nothing to loose in doing what she loved which includes writing and standing a chance to share her story with a hospital as large as that and help them with their body, mind and soul research. She kept her plight to herself because she don't want to have to explain to anyone if things never went as assumed, she thrusts herself that she'll understand but others will have high expectations and certainly won't. She took some naira notes from her bag and zipped it back, also locked it with her mini key since she dislikes trespasses to her private properties and her younger ones will always dare to know that which had absolutely nothing to do with them.
The money she got from her mini haggling gains she got from going into the market to buy drugs when instructed by her madam and she manages to get it at a lesser price, she tracks to and from work and the only thing her money went to was, buying of airtime as she had no boyfriend to fill that responsibility and buying detergents to wash her clothe as few as they are. She left for the hospital at 8am the next day and as she was going in, she noticed the design on the neurological section of the hospital, it now had a logo with a health care moses-looking serpent wrapped around a sword with wings on both sides of the handle, it was golden coloured and a large virtual screen display the human brain in the most detailed and elaborate way trin has ever seen. She saw the inscription at the top of the building "in partnership with John Hopkins" with a Nigerian and united states flag, she smiled at it and went in, she went to the chief doctor's office and she got welcomed warmly by the well endowed ebony lady dressed in white lab coat, she was very smart looking, with a cleanly parked pony tail and spectacles, she was obviously in her late thirties and Trin thought that she's done well for her pretty self at what she strongly guessed as thirty eight. The doctor in an American ascent gestured to her to have a sit and while Trin gripped her purse for comfort from her excitement, she sat down and suddenly she felt relaxed, she told herself that she was more than an ordinary person who freaks out easily having faced all the harsh realities of life anybody could think of. The doctor then said: "am Dr Lucy Adkins and I just got transfered from the States to act as the chief judge in the decision making process of which team gets the chance to go to our hospital in the US and narrate her near-death experience, we'll be needing only three people to work with and we chose Africa because an African will have no reasons to lie but a westerner might have an ulterior motive so I sent out the message to you and twenty others when I saw your stories, so here's the documents to fill at home and submit before the stipulated deadline and luckily stand a chance to share your story to the world. I love your first impression which from my observation included; punctuality, verbal reservation and calmness. Go fill it and I wish you the very best!" Trin replied: thank you Dr Lucy immeasurably for the opportunity and I look forward to getting selected, hopefully and I'll endeavor to send at my earliest convenience, thanks you once again". Dr Lucy smiled and said "you're welcome, always" with a smile and bade her a good day as Trin quickly glanced at the documents before folding them in two and inserting them inside her purse, she didn't actually grasp much but the heading which read: 'inter partnership form for the body, mind and soul research between America and Africa'. She then walked briskly out of the hospital and crossed over to a taxi at a loading spot and after waiting for about ten minutes, the taxi was filled with four other passengers, it was unusually quicker than before because it took in between twenty to thirty minutes for taxies to be loaded in that region. Trin later got home and went inside her room, nobody was at home, she noticed that her siblings were off to school and her parents at work and the house was totally cool, she thought it was a wonderful opportunity to get those documents filled and signed but not before eating something, she got jollof rice which was her favourite from the pot and she made sure to get the little burnt part under the pot because that was her favourite part, she ate with delight and with chilled sachet water she got with the help of a kid in the compound who helped her buy it for ten nairas.
Later when she was done eating, she took out the documents, brought her Biro and started writing down some things, she filled the space made for her name, address, mobile number, email address and website if any,her educational qualification and she write ssce only, her parents names and how many they are in the family, her town, state and nationality which she wrote and below the form she was told to briefly analyse herself and in a concise context write it down, she considered the space provided and wrote accordingly. She also filled the part made for her experience in a nutshell and she did, but the space where she was asked to write about her opinion of consciousness, existence, life and transition, she wrote: "what I have to write cannot be squeezed into a paragraph as provided here so I'll be immeasurably indebted if you grant me the privileged to come express myself to you at john Hopkins unabashedly!".
Later in the night when her parents came back, they were surprised that she didn't go to the market but stayed back, they confronted her and she stated that she wasn't feeling a hundred percent. They took her words for it and everyone went to bed.
The next morning, she left home before then dressed as if she was going to work and they bought into the idea. She made for the hospital and submitted her form at the Dr Lucy's and left as the doctor examined her write up. She was fascinated at to how an African like Trin is could possess such level of literacy without even attending a higher institution, her language was so fluid, and Dr Lucy couldn't help but notice the part where she'd said that she virtually had lot to say. Dr Lucy thought that this young woman deserved an audience because she seems to have something upstairs and won't feed the world with trash, As she's been told by the afore senior doctor, trin's mom was from Texas and she concluded that as the saying goes, "an Apple does not fall far from the tree which it fell", She stamped the form as an excellent pass and concluded that she'd send Trin a message in the night time to give her the good news, she smiled at to how things were going and thought that they still have till a week before the flight, she took trin's submitted documents and information and started the process of procuring a visa for a person who has never been out of the country before and getting all her documents ready. She got done with the phone call arrangements and kept trin's file aside and started attending to others.
In the night at Mr Simeon's residence, the kids in the neighborhood and Brian, destiny and kaima could be seen playing around the compound. Brian shot rubber ties with his friends and push worn out motorcycle tyres around and kaima and destiny are seen playing a jumpy jacks kind of game with their peers. Trin on the other hand was inside, chatting her friends on Facebook, amongst them was a woman activist and a very good friend of hers though she's yet to meet her apart from live videos. She's a young lady in her late twenties to early Thirty's who went by the name konnery Bradford, She was so down to earth and her only bound Trin thought is living in the shackles of total submission to religion which Trin thinks are just conspiracy theories yet to be proven true or false because some would prefer to die than to have the truth exposed to the world, she smiled at her screen as a notification popped up from her Phoenix browser, it was the weather prediction till the next week and it was accurate till the moment trin was in, it was 2 O'Clock and as the prediction stated that it would rain, it was raining already, Trin was amazed at what earthlings could do in such a short span of universal time, she was grateful to the source that of all randomness, she took the human form as an expression of the source because she couldn't wish to be more amazing, "humans are really impossible", she said to herself and just then her mails dropped, it was from the hospital and it read: 'hello Trin, hope you're having a wonderful day with your family? want to use this medium to inform you that you've been chosen as one of the three to head over to the united states and testify to your experiences of the metaphysical as an aiding testament to the ongoing research tagged; body, mind and sou....., she pressed her minimize icon out of excitement and rushed over to break the news to her parents, they saw the excitement on her face and asked her, she told them how she applied for the life changing opportunity and got accepted, just then she brought out her phone and read it to them, and added that they've been invited to the hospital the next day to fill their own part. They were so happy but for a moment Mrs Simeon got lost in thought thinking of the states but her husband held her and reassured her that everything was going to be fine. They later bought edibles and drinks and celebrated the feat in advance before Trin shoved herself into the nights reveries! She smiled all through the night and on the next morning, they went on Mr Simeon's missionary bus to the hospital, they got to Dr Lucy's office and had to wait at the guests quarters because she was attending to someone, they busied themselves with the iconic futuristic, fantasy, female leading movie named Lucy which portrayed scarlet Ingrid Johansson as the iconic actor, the movie was so refreshing and real, the type of movies Trin particularly loved because it has to do with existence and life itself. Just in a short moment Trin and her parents were called into the office became Dr Lucy was done with the visitor she was attending to. When they're seated, Dr Lucy tried to contain herself but was looking at Mrs Simeon in an embarrassing manner, she got hold of herself and asked trin: "do you see the movie I just acted on display?" everybody laughed and trin said "you're definitely not the black widow though your name sounded Lucy" the laugh continued for some moments before the doctor told them to get serious so they could get to business. She asked Mrs Simeon to fill a form and another form he gave to Mr Simeon to fill as well and when they're writing it, she caught up with trin on so many things they shared, Dr Lucy was fascinated by the African heritage, the stories trin told her were so original and out of the world unlike the ones she's read online. Trin's parents got done and submitted their answers, the doctor was stunned again when looking at Mrs Simeon's script, she couldn't believe what she was reading, Mrs Simeon was born, schooled in the States and etc. Her eyes widened in disbelief because Mrs Simeon was now looking like an albino because of the country's harsh atmospheric conditions and the Hercules looking labours she's faced in life. Mr and Mrs Simeon were tired of the suspense so they decided to ask her, she opens up in tears that she once lost a classmate in university of Houston, they were best of friend but after she traveled to Africa for an agricultural related programme, she never came back, she said they lived in the same street in and her parents still lived there till date, hoping that one day their child will come back, her father Mr Brook has leukaemia from smoking himself to stupor and her mom became schizophrenic, the doctor had administered drugs such as neurosan, brain formula and gingko but she's not responding to treatment, the psychiatrist said that it was as a result of prolonged heartbreak and in most cases it leads to streescardiomyopathy but they were lucky enough to have other kids who are well to do, who take care of them all the time though both has refused going to live with their kids, their conditions were chronic. The doctor was in tears as she was narrating this and so was the family before her, she asked in finalism: "please are you grace brook my beloved friend?" Mrs grace rushed over and hugged her passionately as she cried "am so sorry Lucy love for ghosting outta y'all" Dr Lucy was totally sure now, her friend Lucy was the only white in campus who was never apathetic toward the blacks, she enjoyed their company, talked and acted like them and that explained her coming to spend her historical life in Africa, Dr Lucy said: "am very proud of you homie".
When the sentiments were over, they all went outside and got a lunch also to catch up, they later agreed to procure Visa's for the family if for nothing, then to go get acquainted with their mother's origins and for Mr and Mrs Simeon to see their once beautiful couple whom their love have rendered weary and to beg for forgiveness though they don't hope to be forgiven. They got done with the meal they went with Dr Lucy's car to the visa procurement agency, where they made arrangements for everyone corresponding with the date Dr Lucy, trin and her cos are taking the " last gamble" as trin always called it. They were done with the registration and they were told to be contacted for any developed, their flight was to take place at muritala Muhammed international airport and they have a lot of preparations to make, Dr Lucy followed them home and was warmly welcomed by the kids, destiny was especially delighted when she found out that the lady was a doctor because that was her vision as well. She bombarded her with a lot of questions and was only held off by Mr Simeon. The family was so lively that evening and Mrs Simeon and her friend laughed so Loud as they told tales, the kids have never seen their mother that happy before and wished that this happiness never goes away, they later walked the doctor to her car where she hugged her friend and reminded trin of their appointment before she zoomed off and the questioning spree was shifted to Mrs Simeon, they asked her a whole lot of questions as she could and later waved them off to bed, then had a heart to heart chat with her husband till late in the night, trin couldn't sleep either, she was so excited, this all happened too fast, almost like a dream because if a soothsayer had told her earlier that year that something of this nature would happen to her this year, she would have laughed it out like a bluff but the randomness and uncertainty of life is the joy of it, indecisiveness is the joy of reality! For once in her life, the cosmos have remembers her, everything seems to be coming together and words alone cannot express her plight, she can't wait to be heard by the world, this point she's waited for all her life and she's always known must come to pass but she never knew it'll come this early, she suddenly felt a tinge of nervousness, she began feeling unsure but she opened up to an episode in adiyogi's videos, she saw an excerpt from sahdguru that thought about kundalini yoga as the most dangerous form of yoga because when activated, everything a person wished for happens so fast without regard to time and the person is at a point thrown off mental balance, she grinned as the light from her phone illuminated her face, she thought to herself 'I might have triggered this dimension of reality with unintended mental willpower without knowing which affirms the universal law of perpetual transmutation of energy', she was scared but happy! And she blinked her phone off as she laid face up on her back, watching the spiders make their webs as she drifted into the Webby comfort of sleep's seduction.
