Upon seeing a pile of corpses inside the dreadful cavern Sam was in, his heart sank and a surge of both anxiety and shudder ran throughout his mind and body respectively. He wondered why his terrible luck was far more aggressive at him than usual. Such luck was definitely bad for Sam's heart as it kept throwing at him countless trials, slapping him with extra dangerous risks - a single small mistake might cost him his life in a blink of an eye. With his heart being filled with panic from that fact, Sam then started to think about how to get out of this holes-filled cavern with his skin rather intact as soon as possible.
Looking around him extra focused, Sam spotted below the small holes of illumination a far bigger one on the wall so that a large-sized monster could get into the cave through it quite easily. The problem was that this hole was pretty high for Sam to reach. And although his backpack luckily was still with him on his back, yet the rope, that he had used as a trap, was still in the other cavern where he had arrived into. So, he thought deeply of another solution for quite a while before he sighed.
'What should I do?' Sam thought, biting his nails nervously. 'I don't have anything useful in my bag that can help me out of this goddamned place.'
He then decided to walk up closer to the hole and examine in detail the wall underneath the big hole, that Sam had assumed it worked as both an entrance and exit if it was possible to climb up and finally get himself rid out of this ghastly cavern, promising himself to never come back again.
That's why had Sam decided he would give it a try and climb up the rough-surfaced wall yet fell to the ground from the start, without progressing much, whereas he landed with his butts, making them hurt him a lot.
"Ah shit, that hurts pretty much," Sam said, rubbing his butts before shifting his sight towards the corpses. "Still, I have to endure it and keep trying to get out of this nasty place... if I don't want to become a lump of dead meat like those doomed ones."
Sam tried again to climb up the wall, yet his foot slid to fall on his butts. The pain of the fall made him leap up with several small jumps, and his face turned into that of a quite pained one, still, he didn't give up. So, he carried on climbing and falling, climbing and falling, again and again, yet without any progress except for the pain of his butts that kept rising up each time he fell.
'I don't have time to keep trying on something I have no progress with. It's not a game. My head's still in the line,' Sam thought, frowning.
Without losing any more time, Sam started to look around him and search the cavern, hoping to find anything that might be useful for him. But, alas, there was nothing except for the corpses. Sam was totally trapped. Despair started to find its way into his heart a bit as Sam sat down and held his head down, giving up his possibility to escape.
What could he possibly use in such a cavern filled only with stones and rocks as well as a pile of dead bodies? One couldn't make a strong rope, enough for one to climb without being cut easily, neither from stones nor from those corpses. While the possibility to get out by taming a flying monster was a complete failure. Sam's options were no more than these only two, or that was what he thought.
"Ah, I guess there is no way to survive in this world from the start," Sam sighed with blank eyes. "The end will come even before the beginning hasn't started properly yet."
'I'm sorry, mom. In the end, it appeared you've trusted your mission with the wrong guy. Unfortunately, I'm such a useless son,' Sam thought, disappointed in himself, a depressed smile filled his face.
Thinking back about his mother, Sam recalled the last moments of Elina's life as if they were playing now before his very eyes at this very moment, remembering her saying to him "I trust you. I trust that you can do it." Then he recalled that piece of shit with the white overcoat and a flame of fury blazed in his eyes as he clenched his hands tight.
Seeing these visions made Sam regain his composure and his will to survive as he had goals yet to be achieved no matter what for his mother's sake. Thus he stood up with a determined expression replacing the despair that had been clear on his face.
"What's wrong with you, Sam? How could you forget such very important stuff and give up your life this easily?" Sam mumbled to himself after slapping his face so that to wake up and focus on surviving such a difficult situation. The traces of his hands stayed clear on his face for some time. "I still haven't neither reached nor achieved my goals yet. So, I need to survive, no matter what, to fulfill my mom's mission and find those bastards who wanted her dead."
Holding his chin, Sam started to contemplate a way to get out of this nasty cavern while he was walking back and forth in a straight line.
'Think, Sam. There must be another way out here or there I haven't checked yet... or at least anything I can use as a rope,' Sam thought. 'If I just had my rope with me, everything wouldn't have been complicated like this.'
Thinking of all the possibilities of anything, if it could be used as a rope, his eye would spot while looking around, Sam's fingers flickered as he thought he finally got a smart idea at first, but once he shifted his sight to the pile of corpses, Sam immediately frowned and changed his mind - it was an awful disgusting idea. He tried to come up with another idea desperately, but unfortunately, his mind was utterly empty. This awful idea was the only one that he had in his hands.
'...Shit, my misfortune is unmeasurable and endless, but I guess it can't be helped as long as I can't do anything about it,' Sam thought, frowning disgustedly. 'I don't have a choice but to perform such shit idea.'
To perform his idea, Sam then started to slowly approach the pile of corpses, and get closer and closer as his face was covered with tissue due to the terrible and bloody smell of the corpses filling the air around them. The closer he got to the pile, the more unbearable the smell got, the more Sam's eyebrows would twitch. He was being urged to throw up, yet Sam was holding on well.
"...My bad luck is my archenemy," Sam said in an annoyed manner. Once Sam had approached the corpses, he immediately started to look for bodies with long hair. So, each time he spot one, Sam would go up close to it and start to cut their hair.
Yes, that's true. Sam was planning to make a rope using the corpses' hair. It mattered neither what kind nor what color it was. All that mattered was it to be long in order to then tie them with each other making a hair rope.
While Sam was cutting the hair of several corpses, to make a long and enough rope that could reach the large hole, Sam was still resisting the urge to throw up from the awful and disgusting smell. It was a hell of a smell, one experiencing it for the first time could never bear it. However, Sam was holding it on somehow, persistent to never run off before he had plenty of hair so that he wouldn't need to come back for more and struggle with the smell again.
The moment Sam had taken an adequate amount of hair, at a high speed, he then ran off as far as possible of the pile of corpses while his two hands placed together grasping the already cut hair - countable amount flew off in the air. Sam then had leaned against the wall right before he started to throw up much vomit.
Buaaaa
'...This is hell, I will never do this again!' Sam thought, sweating and breathing heavily while wiping his mouth.
Soon after, Sam sat down on the hard cold floor and started to tie the hair ends together and make a rope. While doing so, Sam was thinking how worse his situation could get as an iffy feeling was thrown into him telling him that it would get even worse than it already was now.
So, in order to get rid of such thoughts and close his mind, Sam shook his head and denied them by thinking that rather than worse it was going to be better instead, and tried to make his whole focus just on the rope right after.
After finishing the rope, Sam had made a small circular loop with one of the two ends of the hair rope, and soon after, he lifted his body off the ground as he decided to do some tests. Sam had swung the rope and stretched it to test if it would unfasten or not and if it was strong enough for him.
Otherwise, he might suffer even more if the rope got untied and he fell while midway. Hair was known to be incredibly strong to be cut by just stretching out, still, its weak spot, if there was one, would be the knots being not tied well. Sam didn't want to make the same mistake as last time with the flying monster when the knob had unfastened, so he decided to do the tests.
"Now, I guess I should try to use it for getting out of this awful cavern," Sam said that with the urge and excitement to try his new hair rope, as he thought.
Once he had approached the large hole, Sam started to look for a protrusion, a small rock jutting from a side of the hole, and luckily, he found one which seemed to be sturdy enough.
'Hehe, that bird monster bastard can never catch me again... won't let that happen,' Sam thought, snickering and laughing like crazy. 'I wish to see its expression when it finds out I have already escaped this cave.'
While swinging the rope, Sam looked like a cowboy except for being a boy without a cow. He then threw it to the protrusion to get it into, and surprisingly, it was a first try success which even stunned Sam himself. He didn't expect this as he had already prepared himself for uncountable times of attempts.
Sam brushed back his hair while seeing an imaginary sparkling world around him, Sam thought himself awesome and chuckled proudly, 'fufu, I always impress myself with such unlimited talent.'
With a wide grin filling his face, Sam decided to walk up to the wall and start to climb up the rope, feeling his heart like it was fluttering from the excitement every time he thought he was finally getting out.
'Finally, I'm getting out.' Sam thought a surge of impatience was urging him to get out as quickly as he could as if he was a prisoner who had been locked up for tens of years and finally got the opportunity to satisfy his great thirst for freedom.
But once Sam had reached the hole and became able to witness the outside while hanging, he got stunned silently still in his place with a blank expression replaced the clear excitement on his face with a great madness turned his eyes bloodshot. Again, it was a high altitude with no way down even without a cliff this time.
Suddenly, a hunch started to bug Sam in the back of his mind, this cavern seemed as if it was a nest for that bird monster.
Still, madness was about to blow his head up before he screamed furiously "CRAP!" and struck on the wall with his hand, causing his body to start to lose balance and fall right after to the floor to land with his butts.... again.
"Ah~!! That hurts pretty much!!" Sam screamed with little tiny tears appearing in his eyes. 'I don't have a way out. What should I do?' Sam thought.
Sam got sick of the whole matter. Each time he thought he had found a solution out, a door would be thrown close to his face when he thought he almost did it.
That was until he remembered the book which he had found in his school's library - [Wonders of Parallel Realms]. Sam had brought it with him in case he needed it in such times.
"That's right!" Sam shouted. "How fool am I to forget about such an important thing? The book might be my savor."
The most efficient and dangerous weapon in the universe is information, and luckily, such weapon had been in Sam's possession. Sometimes information changed the currents and waves of a war between two opposing forces drastically. At a time, one with information would usually prepare properly and vanquish the other one without information.
The book [Wonders of Parallel Realms] was itself an information weapon containing a great amount of information about the world 'Monestopia' including its creatures, especially monsters. Sam should exploit the book fully and properly if he wanted to achieve his goals in the most efficient way and with the least harm and losses as well.
By remembering the book, Sam reconsidered the plan to get out by taming whatever kind of flying monster. The only condition, it should be able to be tamed by Sam completely. Sam had decided to, first of all, search for information thoroughly about the dinosaur-like monster as it was the first monster Sam had met in Monestopia, and also the more likely one to make an appearance first as it was the one who had brought Sam to the nest-like cavern.
'I should know everything about this flying monster to prepare for it and also defend against it,' Sam thought with a determined expression.
Sam had opened the book and started to flip pages one by one, scanning quickly for the words 'flying monsters' generally and 'dinosaur-like monsters' specifically or anything like this until he found it after some time of searching. The dinosaur-like monster was surely a flying monster which went as known as 'Dinobird' as written on [Wonders of Parallel Realms].
Looking at this strange name, Sam had paused for a moment before he burst out with laughter, rolling around on the ground in hysterics. It was a funny name. Who would give such a stupid name and make it official for a whole group of one kind of monsters? Whoever it was, they were quite the fool, Sam thought.
"Hahah~, what kind of name is this?! Hahah~," Sam laughed uncontrollably.
Soon after calming down, Sam went back on reading about it. There was an interesting phrase that had completely taken his attention which was, [The Dinobirds are the best example for parenthood and self-sacrifice. Without second thoughts, they would sacrifice themselves gladly for the sake of their children.]
'If it has children and this was really true, maybe I could use them to my advantage... still I can't guarantee that,' Sam thought, holding his chin. 'I guess I should look for other things.'
Sam then also read about another interesting piece of information. The Dinobird appeared to have an archenemy. This archenemy was a white-furred flying monster with the body of a tiger, and the head of an owl, having large feathered wings on its back. This kind of monster was known as 'Tigowl'.
Again, Sam had paused and looked at this strange name still and silent with a dumbfounded expression overshadowing on his face, and thought right after, 'What's wrong with these names, who in the world would come up with such odd names?!'
Ignoring that, Sam continued reading about both Dinobirds and Tigowls, hoping he would find anything useful for him at the time. [Wonders of Parallel Realms] talked about their enmity like so, [The enmity between Dinobirds and Tigowls was like the opposition between dark and light, fire and water, good and evil and so on. No matter what, they never get along with each other. Nobody knows the reason for such huge enmity.]
'I guess it's a piece of useful information,' Sam thought. 'But how am I going to find a Tigowl while I'm trapped in this crap?!... I guess I'll think of it when it comes.'
Sam continued on reading [Wonders of Parallel Realms] and found out that the common ranks for both Dinobirds and Tigowls were (D III) which totally stunned him. After all, Sam had incredibly struggled against the so-called Dinobird and was on the edge of getting himself killed by it, still, its level appeared to be D III which was hitting the bottom.
The short story simply was, based on what he had read, this Dinobird appeared to be one of the weakest monsters in Monestopia.... unless the information in the book was somehow wrong. Sam felt his head was about to blow up.
While his full focus was diving in the book, out of the blue, a long shadow fell on him, covering his whole body. Sam couldn't help but lift his head off the book and gulp when he realized what possibly had overshadowed him.
Twisting his head back slowly and silently to confirm his fear, Sam, as a result, flinched and sweat started to find its way out onto his body like rain. Unfortunately for Sam, it appeared to be the same Dinobird that had brought him to this nest-like cavern.
Of course, Sam had never prepared anything for it yet, even a bit as he was still trying to extract useful information to take advantage and face it properly. After all, Sam did never expect it to come back this fast. At the time, his main priority had got to run away from the Dinobird and lose it to start to think out properly of a plan.
Seeing the monster, it was staring at Sam and giving him a wide creepy smirk before it started to snicker as if it had found out what Sam had been doing and, with its return, it ruined what he had been planning to do, the Dinobird thought.
*Qeqeqe
Sam again started to scream in that shameful lady-like voice, and started to move his legs with every bit of strength he was able to exert to run away from the Dinobird as fast as he could as it started immediately persuading him without wasting any second. They were running around the pile as there were neither large rocks nor passages to use them to confuse the Dinobird and eventually lose it.
While his legs never slowed down, running away as far as possible from the Dinobird, Sam noticed there was an opening on the wall behind the pile of corpses where he didn't check properly.
'Bingo!' Sam thought.
Sam hadn't noticed it before due to the shadow of the pile covering and hiding it. Fortunately and unbelievably, Sam was faster than the Dinobird. That actually shocked him. So, he ran into the area behind the opening and passed through it hoping to see if there was a way out of the cavern as he had never discovered it before.
Therefore, Sam got inside, but he could barely see through as just a bit of the light could make it into. However, Sam didn't slow his speed down. He had kept running forward in a straight line, betting it surely was a way out until he smashed his body into the wall so badly, causing a bit of blood to make an appearance out of his nose as he fell to the ground right after. Sam picked his body up off the ground, yet he started to stagger left and right as he kept walking difficultly until he lost balance and fell to the ground... again.
"Aaah, that hurts too much!" Sam shouted out loud before he looked back to the Dinobird and said, "I'm so damned up!"
When Sam fell to the ground, the Dinobird smashed down the pile of corpses strongly causing them to scatter all over the place and making it no longer a pile. Such sheer strength scared Sam, and by imagining if such attack had struck him, his soul would have already been roaming in the air. Thinking of that, Sam couldn't help but gulp, hoping good luck would descend upon him and such attack would never reach him or even touch him.
Once the pile was scattered down, that made a way for the light to spread out into the area, they already had got into, and everything got pretty clear so that everything inside got seeable for Sam to find out what was in there.
'W-what?!' Sam thought, seeing something he never expected that he might be able to use for his advantage at the time.
With getting inside the small area that seemed like a room rather than a passage, it seemed like Sam had hit a nerve of the Dinobird; It got extremely angry.
