Chapter 10 - Chapter 9

QuiverWing was huffing by the thought of Frostbite and she could see Scorch tilting his head at her, 'he must be very disappointed that his brother tried to kill me' she guessed. She sat on the side of the river and flicked her tail in the mud. She kept a low growl in her throat as she stared in the water, "so how did you expect us to meet?" She asked dropping the growling.

"I don't know, probably at a dinner meeting or a I would of just invited him to my den cave" he answered.

"Then let him kill me there" she made a growl without realising and Scorch gave a little sad head bow. "He did mention that we met before and I was on an island so maby we had feelings back then?" She tried to cheer him up.

"What does that mean?" He said in a crooky voice.

"Well I remember that a chameleon will have a commitment to a dragon when they are in a relationship and I'm gona be honest... I have felt a commitment." QuiverWing felt an awkward tone and she saw some hope flicker in his eyes. "Are you saying you like me?" He asked and a ghostly shape of his face gave a smile. She just nodded and tucked her head in feeling like a turtle. Scorch rubbed his cheek on hers with a purr, "is that anuther way of flirting then?" She joked.

"Yes," he chuckled. "Well are we going to look for the herb we're here for?"

"Right I almost forgot" she remembered.

"It looks like a red snowflake, nothing else looks like it. It could have different growing needs so check everything" Scorch objected.

"The dragon hunters might have the herb if we can't find it, or they could have there own farm of it" Scorch mention.

"You really think so?" She tilted her head wondering if dragon hunters could have plant farms. She knew that they farm animals like cows, pigs and-so addicting- sheep. "Yes I have seen a dragon hunter farm this particular herb before" he nodded his head and walked back into the rainforest. They headed north (because Frostbite went south) and found a little clearing to rest after walking and examining plants all day. "You can head on that way" QuiverWing pointed her claw in a direction, "and I can head this way" she then pointed to the opposite direction. Scorch nodded and walked off and QuiverWing did the same, after a little while she managed to find the edge of the rainforest. 'Maby it's grown in the field, I do know what it looks like so why not have a look?' She thought.

She adventured out and searched every little plant she could see and even checked if it had grown on the rocks. After 10 minutes of searching she heard a very high pitch scream, she spun around and saw a female dragon hunter but she looked smaller then she thought it would be. It had fallen and was trying to crawl away not letting her sight move from QuiverWing. She tilted her head as it didn't have anything that could harm her, infact it's teeth were blunt and it's claws looked flimsy. QuiverWing carefully moved closer, making sure if it did have magic or something that is harmful to her, so she could run if she had to. Her nose was pressed on its chest and she sniffed it, it stopped screaming (or was it crying) and pay her aboth her horn and in her blind spot. QuiverWing jumped back as it felt wired not to see where she was touched, it covered its head and left its stomach exposed. QuiverWing then leand down to snif it agen 'this seemed to calm it down' she thought to herself.

It then pat the horn and its eyes looked curious or aggressive "is this how your kind displays dominants or are you curious" she couldn't tell. When QuiverWing spoke it flinched back and did a wired squeak sound. She didn't know what to do 'maybe it wants to go back home. I could take it close to its village then let it go' QuiverWing nodded at this plan and gently picked it up and placed on the back of her head where the neck meets. It scrambled to get out of here claws when she did but QuiverWing got her on there anyway. She then walked to the direction of the village and she felt the dragon hunter wrap its little arms around her left horn. Once the village was in view it stopped doing this strange cry thing and began to speak in a really wird language, "wait you can speak but what language?" QuiverWing asked. When she did it immediately leaned on her horn with a growl? Bark? QuiverWing honestly could not tell what this thing was thinking or what expression it had.

Once she got close enough she crouched letting the little dragon hunter down. Then she felt something very small stab her hip, she looked at it and saw a flimsy stick with flethers on the end. QuiverWing pulled it out, carefull not the snap the end, and saw metal. Then anuther one shot the ground and she released that this is what dragon hunters use to kill dragons. The one she brought here was already up the hill so she flaped her wings and dirt was flung all around her forming a cloud and she climbed into the sky. She landed were she found the little dragon hunter and continued to look for the herb. 'They weren't all that scary only strange creatures with little sticks with metal, I wonder why so many dragons are afraid of them from what I remember' she wondered to her self and then she had a stab of cold pain at the back of her head. She only had for a few seconds but it was horrible pain that felt like if it went on longer she would of clawed her brain put.

"QuiverWing! QuiverWing!" Scorch shouted her name out in an elarmed voice.

"I'm over here!" She called back trying to keep a calm tone.

"Dragon hunters! Run!" His head popped out of the bushes, running at full speed. She bared her teeth with a snarle and confronting the little ape like creature with semmie circle wooden shapes with those sticks. One was shot at her neck but couldn't pires her think stomach scales, it jumped back as it bounce of her. She knew that her stomach scales were thicker than her other scales and would explain why it did pires her hip. She took a deep breath and ice spued out and the dragon hunters turned into ice statues. She turned to see if Scorch was ok and saw that about a dozen dragons staring at her with shocked looks.

"You killed a dragon hunter?" Asked a startled storm herder.

"Yeah they are not as scary as I thought" she responded comfortably.

"You do know that every dragon hunter killed at least 10 of us is killed, right? That they are very vengeful creatures, right?" His eyes were full of terror. QuiverWing tilted her head

"How can those tiny creatures kill a powerful dragon? I mean it could even pass my scales".

"For a dragon so rare you are pretty dumb" a small growl grew in his throat, she could bearley hear it. She saw Scorch tred up the hill towards her, whisper in his ear and signall his tail to talk away from the other dragons. "How could you remember a quote but not the bloodshed of what those creatures did?" He sounded more worried then angry.

"I... don't know... what did they do?" She was genuinely curious now.

"From what I can remember, they slorterd many flocks, destroyed ancient traditions and murdered thousands of us all because one dragon bit one." He growed and fiddled with his claws.

"I didn't know" she apologised.

"All of these dragons will now blame you when anything happens" it sounded like he was scolding her but his tone was off.

"When? If anything happened I believe that these dragons can fight of those punny creatures!" She yelled out to make sure that all the dragons could here her. Most of them flinched and the others did an unsure growl, and the storm herder snarled at her. "You are gona get us killed! We should just hand you in to Queen Petle now!" He yelled.

"Do you really want to serve a mass murdering phyco?" She questioned in a calm voice and she saw a couple of the dragons give her a some what hopeful look. "Do you agree?" She turned to them with a friendly voice. The made an uncertain face and turned there heads, except for one a frildon. "You really think we can fight them?" Her voice was soft and full of youth, definitely a dueviniel. QuiverWing nodded with a smile "it would as easy as cutting sand".
