Chapter 1 - PROLOGUE•|MEMORY.|

BASTILLE POV.

Seventeen years ago. . .

I couldn't wait to see Mary — my crush. Her beautiful ocean eyes, her auburn hair and her innocent smile. I couldn't wait to hug her, and place a peck on her cheeks.

"Aunt, hurry up!" I shouted, looking back at her as I ran down my family private jet.

"I'm coming dear." she yelled, running towards me with her bag.

I was just coming back from Paris with my aunt. A two days trip which she'd offered to take me on because she knew how much I loved Disneyland, though I still didn't understand why she didn't take Mary along. As far as I was concerned money wasn't a problem.

"Slow down, Bastille." Yelled my aunt, and I stopped running and waited for her.

Finally she caught up with me, with her breathing coming out harshly. She crouched next to me and smiled, her baby blue eyes filled with love as she stared at me, and I could see the reflection of the beautiful moon in her eyes.

"Bastille," She said, wearing my cardigan for me. "Why are you running? you'd see your parents and Mary very soon."

"I just can't wait." I told her, scowling as I stomped my foot on the ground.

"Oh, put a smile on your face for me." She placed her hand on my face and pinched my cheeks slightly, and I smiled. "Such a good boy, now let's go."

She held my hand and together we entered into a car which was parked outside the airport.

I smiled all through the ride to my house. I knew Mary was going to be waiting for me and I couldn't wait to see her.

In a few minutes we finally reached my parents' mansion, and I quickly opened the door and ran out of the car, ignoring my aunt's call.

"Mum, dad, Mary! I'm home!" I shouted with excitement as I entered the building, but I didn't see anyone in sight so I climbed up the stairs and went straight to the parlor. Still, I saw nobody. "Mum! Dad! Mary!"

I called again as I walked towards the dining area, and I finally saw my parents and my younger sister seated around the dining area with their heads bowed on the table.

Moving towards them, I tapped on my mum but she didn't respond. Fear gripped me. "Mum, wake up," I continued to tap on her, but still, there wasn't any response. I moved to my dad, and tapped him also, but he didn't respond.

Tears had already filled my eyes as I moved to my younger sister — Luciana. I carried her fragile body off the chair she was seated in, trying to wake her up but she also didn't respond.

"Aunt! Auntie!" I called as I ran downstairs to get her.

"What?" She asked, placing the stuff in her hand down, next to the stairs.

"Mum, da-d and luci-a-na. . ." I stuttered as I pointed towards the stairs.
