Chapter 5 - 5

"This is a story about a girl who was born with every comfort in her life, her family were supportive and she had everything in the world that anyone could dream of. However one day everything changed. The girl woke up to find herself in the body of a young child struggling to live on the streets. Nonetheless, she persevered and fought every day so that she could have a morsel of food. Cursing her faith and remembering her family, one day she survived a carriage accident and was saved by a knight.

From that day on she trained herself, became a strong knight, and garnered everyone's respect, including the two most influential men of the kingdom.

A love triangle ensued among them which became the greatest romance of the century. The woman who was both wise and beautiful assisted the two men with the knowledge she gathered in her own world. With each peril, they grew closer and closer. And it was time for the woman to choose her loved one.

'My king you are the only person in my heart.' The woman said shyly. The words were soft, almost like a whisper but the king heard her loud and clear in a moonlit night unassuming of the presence of the advisor who heard them with a broken heart. They shared their first kiss and a passionate tale of the two ended."

'What kind of bullshit is this?' I mumbled recalling the novel. It was a cold winter morning with snow falling down from the grey sky. I sat on the plush velvet couch sipping hot lemon tea and wheat cookies on the porcelain plate.

'Oh! I wish it was a lemon ice tea.' I took a sip and sighed. There was no way the servants were going to give me something cold to drink. As they knew very well that I was sensitive to cold and prone to bad throat. Even in my bedroom where a lively fire crackled in the fireplace, I still rubbed my cold hands by pressing them between my thighs. It was cold and I did not want anyone to make my bed so that I could slip inside the cozy blankets after I drank my tea. I even diligently rebelled against the people who were coming one by one to see if I was out from my burrow.

'Good morning my lady.' A voice called me, he was standing near the door. It was a man's baritone voice. A unique tone came from it…the tone of annoyance.

'So, you finally arrived huh!... I was waiting for you since two days ago.' I called to the servant harshly enjoying every moment of authority.

'…I am sorry for coming late, my lady. I had some work to do. But now that I am here shall we continue where we left off.' The brown-haired man came inside, swiftly closing the door behind him. His hazel eyes shone from the reflection of his thin-rimmed glasses that accentuated his sharp nose and cheeks. His lips were red and his face a pale color with a tint of pink that made him look healthy. Those eye-catching features shone even more in his well-fitted russet suit that gave his figure an ethereal look.

'You have become quite the looker Cronus.' I said propping my hand on my chin, evaluating the man who had betrayed me once.

'You too...My Lady…You look better than we met before.' He spoke.

It pained him to give me respect but he still kept on calling me 'my lady.'

'Last time we met was a year ago when I begged you to turn back time and you heartlessly fooled me.' I smirked.

'You were foolish for not knowing that if I time traveled with you, by default your wish would be fulfilled, my lady.' He gave me a strained smile.

'I changed it didn't I…. we are not just three months but a whole year back in time.' I signaled my demon servant to hand me a new cup of tea. He was more efficient than our butler and had a better sense of style than my maids.

'Who would have thought that you would grow your brains out in just three months before your death penalty. You really plotted well against me.'

'I just used the same strategy that Lisbeth used…taking reference from the novel and everything fell into place. Come to think of it…I really should have not taken you out from the grimoire …I could have prevented myself from dying once.' I pouted recalling the hasty mistake that cost me so much pain.

'In our demon culture, it is said that suffering is necessary to grow your character…the more perilous circumstances you face the sharper you would become. And as for taking me out…I am back again, aren't I?' he said.

'So how have I changed? I don't see any difference even when I came back after dying?'

Cronus came up to me. He sighed and gently touched my cheeks from his gloved hands. They were just light brushes on my soft skin, drawing me closer as I stared at his dark brown eyes.

'You look more dauntless and radiant than before. The cute and naïve girl looks confident.' He said softly and then went back to work.

'The letter left for Dad really mellowed you too Cronus…' I said touching the places with my fingers where his hands brushed …it felt weird.

'That blessed letter is the reason I am here kissing your feet today …. Hah… I really underestimated you.'

'It is time for my laugh then.' I said as I looked at him with a smug face.

He pouted with disgust clearly written on his face. Despite all the curses he was thinking the contracted demon cannot speak a single word against me.

'Tell me what are you going to do now.' He said handling his expressions.

'This.' I threw at him a large document that I compiled in these two days of regressing back.

Cronus flipped the pages getting a rough idea about its contents.

'You know what was the major flaw of the novel Cronus?' I asked.

'What?'

'The heroine was too powerful….'
