It pained Saera to see him deteriorate, but she knew him and Jin were on delicate terms. Since Jin's return, the two had been at odds. Akira clung to a measly sliver of hope that he could still have the life he'd envisioned for himself, and Jin resented it. Though their bond was stronger than their dispute, Saera had heard them arguing on at least one occasion. Akira's voice had been raised and heated while Jin's was quiet and stiff, his fury barely in check. Saera had hurried away from the scene immediately, knowing her presence would not be welcome. That night, Jin's lovemaking had been rough and intense, his body subconsciously seeking to remind himself he was in control.
