Once in a week a kingdom hosts a dance. In these dances, all kingdoms attend, and the heirs meet, chat, have fun and well dance. Here is where I don't want to participante. I'm not good at dancing and the last thing I need is someone making fun of me.
Today is my first dance, and I have to dress in my best gown in order to give a good first impression. The upper part is a strapless heart shaped corset, then a big skirt, which has infinite layers of tul that draws a nice shape of my body. It also has a tul cape that covers my shoulders, it's like a necklace. The whole dress is delicate and with a lot of detail. And of course, the crown, which is obviously black.
The dance is in the blue palace, the color is nice but the people there are a total disaster, always gossiping and talking, they won't shut up, and they are like babies. If you say something they don't like, they start crying, I think they could start to use it as a way to communicate.
The blue palace is very big and shines with the light of the moon. I can't imagine how many rooms it may have. I would probably get lost if I lived there, but I think that you can get used to it.
When I entered I felt all the eyes on me, and with not a nice look. I felt small. Everyone was whispering and laughing. Someone shouted "who died?" And everyone laughed. (When someone dies, people wear black to represent that you are at your lowest.) But I actually don't hate the attention, so I just drew a little smirk and started checking the place as if I didn't care. I was surprised at how I managed the situation to make it look like I wasn't scared to be there. I started by watching up, I couldn't stop my eyes from opening more, I was astonished that they had a lot of paintings on the ceilings, it was like a sky, as if the night never had existed. When I looked down again I noticed that their eyes were on someone else. The white Prince, he is skinny and tall, although I thought he would be taller.
I couldn't help laughing a little bit.
I suddenly found my eyes on the food table, which was in the corner of the room.
The salon had the perfect size, not too big, not too small, I was actually becoming a fan of the place.
I started walking towards the table and as I got closer the smell of it came as if a strong wind was blowing it just for my nose. It was kind of weird, but it could only mean one thing, I was clearly hungry. I blame the distance between the palaces, it was a long trip and I didn't think of bringing a sandwich for the road.
I grabbed a plate and while wetting my lips unconsciously, I started choosing some food.
There was cake. I love cake. If it's not good I'll be very disappointed.
I grabbed a fork and started eating. It was good. Then people started eating too. I tried to talk to the redblood twins, princess Ruby and Prince Ray, whose parents are clearly very original with names. But they were too busy seeing themselves in a mirror that was somehow in their pockets.
When I checked there was only one slice of cake left, so I went to grab it.
But oh the white Prince wanted too.
-I came here first- said the white Prince. I actually thought that it was cute that he tried to fight for a piece of cake.
I actually didn't care about what to answer to him.
-So?. - I could see that he wanted to reply, but his eyes were looking behind me. So I turned My head to the left to see what he was looking at. He was looking at his dad, the White King.
I then looked at him confused.
-It's just cake. -I said while grabbing a knife and cutting it in half. -see? half for me, half for you.- I put his half on a plate and gave it to him with a small smile on my face, just to look a little bit friendly, but when I looked at him he was in some sort of shock, so I just left the plate on the table, put my half in my plate and walked away.
Well that was wired. Why was his dad here? I thought that the.parents were in another room, and Why would he look at him? Was he looking for approval to do something?
Oh I guess the little and fragile white Prince can't do anything without his papa, how lame is that, I actually feel sorry for him.
After a while, the dancing started. I don't know how people like it. I was seated on a chair, watching everything. Actually the first dance wasn't that ugly.
Of course every girl was behind the white Prince, what else would they be doing, they have no life.
For the second dance my mom forced me to ask every boy and girl there if they wanted to dance with me, I don't care being rejected, what i do care is that the only one left was the Prince whitey. How convenient. The last person that I want to ask. The real problem is that kindness is in his blood, so he may say yes.
-Hi, do you want to dance?- I asked with no emotion.
-Hi. No.- He said and walked away, leaving me standing there.
Well, I wasn't expecting that.
From all the people I asked he gave the coldest answer. I was very confused.
I went to the room where my parents were.
-Hey sweetie, how did it go?- ask my mom with her low and calm voice.
-Guess- i answered
-Did you ask the white Prince? He is too kind to say no.- said my dad almost shouting
-Shhh, dad!- i protested, being rejected doesn't bother me, but not everyone has to know- Yes I asked him, he said no. Literally just no, it was very cold.-
-Really? Wow- said my mom.
-Can we go? They won't miss us.- I begged.
-Okay, maybe it was too much for today.- said my mom with a smile.
-Thank you.- I said with a cute voice.
-Say goodbye to everyone and we can go.- said my mum with a serious face. There was no way I was disobeying her.
After saying goodbye to everyone, even to the ones that just look at you with a disgusting face, I went back to where my parents were.
-Are you ready?.- I asked my parents
-I can't find the White King.- said my mom.
-Like if he would like us to say goodbye to him.-
-Ava, cut it.- she sounded mad.
-I think I saw him leave the room a while before.- said my dad.
-He's probable peeing.- I said and I swear you could see my mom's forehead vein about to explode.
-Well I won't be waiting any longer. Let's just go.- finally said my mom.
While we were walking to the door of the palace, I noticed that the entrance had painting on the ceiling too, it was not as pretty as the other one though.
Suddenly I bumped into someone, I almost fell, but I could manage to not to.
I looked at who it was, and yes, the White little Prince was standing in front of me. I realised we were too close, but I didn't move. I was expecting he would take at least one step back. But he was just looking at my eyes. We were like that for just a couple of seconds, until his dad grabbed him and whispered something in his ear. At all this I looked at my parents, hoping they would see me freaking out, but they were losing their minds too.
-Sorry.- The White Prince said.
-It's fine.- I said moving to the side to get out of that awkward situation.
-Wait!.- he said, grabbing my wrist. Surprisingly his touch was gentle, despite the tone that he was talking with. I looked at him confused and then he let me go.
-What do you want?.- I said with the best tone I now.
-You didn't say goodbye to me...- he said looking at the floor. He must be shy.
-Oh, well, Goodbye…- I don't know his name and he probably doesn't know mine.
-Louis.- He said
-Goodbye Louis.- I said while walking to the door. I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.
-Actually- said the White King -There is something more...right Louis?.- he said to his son, It was actually scary how he looked at him.
-Ava- well, he knows my name- Do You want to dance?.- I could tell in his voice that he didn't want to.
-I would love to, but we were leaving, so maybe next time.- I really want to go. I didn't want to be rude as he was when he rejected me. Plus my parents were there, and they wouldn't have liked it if I treated him badly.
-Oh but if you want to dance we can stay a little bit longer.- said my mom. I looked at her clearly trying to express that her comment Made things worse.
-Please, I insist, It would be great for people to see you with the most kind soul that there is- said the white King.
After that, the white Prince held out his hand to me. I had to take it, poor boy, I could feel that he didn't want to be there.
I took his hand, it was very cold, then he walked me to the dancing room. When we entered everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at us, if I were them I would be shocked too.
The music started playing, and everyone started dancing. We did too. He grabbed both of My hands and, again, very gentle and calm touching, but his hands were still cold. He put them on his shoulders, very close to the neck, so I was able to intertwine my hands. After that he placed his hands on my waist.
And we started dancing. I didn't really know how to dance it, so I let him lead.
As we were dancing, we found ourselves very close so I could see his face clearer. He has dirty blond hair, gray eyes, but they had a little bit of blue on them. His lips were thin and wide, his nose was the right size for his face, not too small, not too big. His face was thin and kind of square. He had high cheekbones, maybe when he smiled some dimples could appear. His skin was actually bronced, I thought it would be white, like a ghost.
-I thought your skin would be white.- I said, I instantly regretted it. I felt so dumb. I wasn't thinking.
He started laughing. That's not a bad sign. I laughed a little bit too to relieve the tension.
-There is actually a lot of sun in the White Kingdom. You never visited?- he said. At least he was trying to build up a conversation. Although that question was unnecessary, I obviously never stepped foot near there, we are not welcome in other kingdoms, except for the dances, which we are invited only because Black is one of the five first palaces. If we weren't they wouldn't invite us.
-No, and I think I"ll never do. Is it true that they make the best cakes there?- I had to ask.
-I don't know. I never tried one.- he has to be kidding.
-Please tell me you are lying.- he didn't answer.
-I like this dance.- he said after a few seconds.
-I don't. It is ugly.- I said.
-You don't like the dance..., or You don't like how you dance.- I never thought of it that way, maybe I just don't like how I dance, so I don't like the dance.
-The dance... I don't like the dance.- I said, I actually was confused, but if I didn't like how I danced he doesn't need to know.
After that sentence there was an awkward silence and the dance finally finished. He almost went running to his father like a little kid. The White King, whose name I don't care to know, has gray hair, and strong blue eyes, so maybe Louis's mother has gray eyes. She didn't come to this dance. She must be pretty, because Louis doesn't look like his dad.
Then we could finally get out of there. I never missed my room more.
We were waiting for our carriage to come when we noticed that someone had written "You are disgusting" in white paint. My parents grabbed My hands and we got on the carriage. In the whole trip no one said a word. For a moment I forgot how people see us.
