The morning sun burnt its way through my curtains and to my room, beckoning me from my slumber. With some effort and complaint, I pulled myself out of bed. I could smell breakfast from here.
Lazily, I made my way across my room and through the hall to the water basin in the wash room. I rinsed my face with the cold water from the night before and the honey soap I had received from Reina.
I left the room to find a frustrated Enagi pounding on my bedroom door. I giggled and waited out of sight a moment longer.
"Adriannaly Jasmine Bure! If you don't wake up this instant I'm breaking down this door and eating your breakfast!" Enagi yelled. He must've been there for a few minutes.
"I'm over here, you big ditz," I laughed. He turned to look at me and scowled, at himself or me I didn't want to know.
"Let me get dressed and I'll be down for breakfast."
"Hurry up. You'll be late for work," He mumbled as he headed back downstairs.
Back in my room, I picked through my almost barren closet. Finally I pulled out a faded red off shoulder shirt and a brown leather tunic. I grabbed a matching pair of leather pants out of my dresser and clothed quickly.
When I arrived downstairs Enagi had already made me a plate of oatmeal and molasses. I inhaled it and headed for the back door. Jazzy stopped me.
"You're forgetting something," He said as he handed me my bag and sword.
"Thank you. Bye! I'll be back for dinner, maybe?" I said, walking out the door.
I arrived at the castle gates at around six hundred. A knight gave the gate keeper the okay to open the gate and let me in.
I headed to my study, but when I arrived a maid was waiting for me outside the door.
"Yes? What do you need?" I asked.
"Two things. I have some paperwork for you to do before the council meeting today," She replied holding out a decent stack of paper.
"What else?"
"His highness wishes to see you afterwards."
"Thank you."
She nodded and left me be. I flipped through the pages she had handed me as I opened the door. Some where just reports from the Black Roses most recent mission. Others were on the war between Baicha and Wales. There were more but I would go through them once I was at my desk.
The council meeting was at noon, and I had gotten through half the stack by 9:30, when Reina came in for a visit.
"Please remember to knock, Princess," I smiled, looking up from a the public affairs paper on my desk.
"Right! Sorry Adrie," She mumbled.
"What are you here for? If you just want to chat is there a better time?" I asked her. She frowned a little before smiling again.
"Right! I'm sorry. Maybe later? If you're not busy?"
"Of course. How about 4:00?"
"That works for me. See you then!"
"Bye, Princess."
I resumed to paper in front of me. After reading it, I sat somewhat puzzled and very surprised. Freous, the dragon that resides in No Man's Land, the valley between Mt. Sadari and Sosa Hights, had become quite active and, as the Sosa Villa and Sadara locals put it, very rude. The dragon had iced down an old, favored tavern, a small farmhouse
and that same farmers field, and a small inn.
This was something that deeply concerned me. They were requesting some relief and protection from Freous and his chaos. I signed a relief bill, but didn't know how I was supposed to protect people from an ice breathing dragon.
