Vero pulled the scarf around his neck over his nose, trying to keep the stench of the underworld away. He passed the mourning couple on his way back home. It was two this time. They were kids. Vero and his family would have to move soon. The goblin disease was communicable. That was one of the downsides of living in this settlement—it was near a forest.
His eyes sparkled as they fell upon the young man walking toward him. If it weren't for this man, everyone in this settlement would've been slaughtered by the forest goblins a long time ago.
Vero stopped in front of the tall young man, smiling underneath his scarf. "Dallen! What was it today?"
The young man wearing a heavy vest slowed to a halt. He looked sideways in thought, pulling down the air filter mask from his face. "Let's see… Today I got rid of 50 goblins, 20 ogres and 9 swamp serpents."
