There were only two things one needed to know about Lexnal's father, Jiravo Marseth. First that he was a man of absolutes. He accepted nothing shy of best. And second that he was ruthless.
Not showing mercy to even his own children, let alone the men under him.
Lexnal always assumed that his father was this harsh on him and his brothers because there were so many of them. Just last week he got a new brother—apparently. The one introduced to them before this one hadn't even been two months old.
But even now, as he was getting whipped by a man in front of his own father, who had ordered said man to deliver the punishment, Lexnal refused to accept the bullspit of an explanation for the abusive treatment that his siblings had digested long ago.
