'This is my chance!' Joysaleen thought quickly. She couldn't care about these tremors.
Finding Celd distracted by the shake of the ground, she leapt closer and swung her Kurio hammer to his face. The skyguard turned his head forward and defended his mug by pushing against the hammer's face before it struck him again.
'Moron!' she thought, pulling back her hammer and getting away.
Celd looked at his palm, a bloody cross painted on it. "Persistence won't get you anywhere, kid." The cross on his palm glowed with a glittering pink light.
"We'll see about that," Joysaleen said. "Bane Cross—" But just like before Celd did something that lifted the Hex from his hand.
"I think we should all save energy whenever we can," Celd said, pointing his Subjugator at her. "Don't you think so too?"
