"What's like having a virtual avatar?"
"It's like having a part of yourself in a different form of appearance that's much more of how you want to be seen as and what you express yourself as. Therefore, a way to be more comfortable showing yourself instead of using your real life appearance."
"But some of them show their real life selves despite having one."
"That's because they're comfortable enough to show themselves as who they are in real life. Basically the people who do that have confidence and are those who won't take your nonsense. You know what I'm saying?"
"Yeah."
"So just like that. It's your decision whether or not you want a virtual avatar and show your real self. But it's your responsibility to make sure you understand the risks of having to reveal your real life self online because you know some messed up things can happen."
"Mhm. . .Then how about virtual reality games? The MMO kind."
"Oh that? You can customize your character in it; the difference is that you can use pre-made styles instead of having to completely construct your character itself. Convenient isn't it?"
"Then what do you think about the new virtual reality game? Where you can completely just make your own character of what they'll wear or look like by having to search through a catalog?"
"That's even more convenient, but then everyone would take too long to decide what their character would look like in the game."
"I heard that was the first case for the game, so the developers decided to do a pre-character customization for 3 days so everyone has a lot of time to create their character before the game starts. There's a closet system that allows you to change outfits easily with a touch of a button which magically changes your usual outfit. Like that life simulation game."
"Do they allow you to change your outfits though?"
"Nope, once you've selected your outfits then you won't be able to search through the catalog again. The outfits you chose will be your starter costumes and the only way to change them is to buy the outfits at the costume gacha, where it randomly gives you a costume piece. Fortunately, they separate the gachas into different categories. It's also cool that the costume quality looks so good and detailed too."
"Looks like I'm going back to gacha hell. I'd be whaling for them good-looking costumes."
"That's just one great thing though. The other hype is that the NPCs in the game will act like real people, have complex emotions, and some will know that the player comes from a different world. There are guides and hidden guides; the latter being the ones with valuable information that can explain more about the game's world."
"Wow, they're really serious about their game huh?"
"Definitely. Shall we go buy the gear?"
"Let's do it. I'm gonna whale for those costumes like the popular Wove Aikki fashion mobile game."
". . ."
The newest virtual reality game that the young man and young woman were talking about was 'Ventus Anima Online'.
It would be the very game that costed a certain girl's life.
