Eldritch's living room: 9:30am
"What the f*ck just happened?" Kokatsu asked, looking 𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘪𝘣𝘭𝘺 confused, Eldritch just chuckled, sat down and motioned for them to take a seat, after a moment Okibo simply looked at Kokatsu and shrugged before sitting on the couch opposite of Eldritch with Kyojin dazedly staggering along behind him.
(Please remember that he has a concussion)
After looking on in confusion for a moment Kokatsu sits down inbetween the others and glares at Eldritch for a moment before asking again "What just happened?"
After a moment Eldritch sighed and leaned forwards in his seat, and resting his elbows on a desk that hadn't been there a moment before, began to speak.
"Before I explain anything I want to make one thing clear, once I begin I will not stop until I am done, and if I am interrupted then I will explain nothing, are we clear?"
After getting a nod from both Okibo and Kokatsu he turned to Kyojin only to find him failing to peel a banana, after several moments he looked to Kokatsu and asked,
"Where did he get that?"
"I have no clue."
"Is he okay?"
"I'm pretty sure he has a concussion but otherwise yes"
"Shouldn't you be more concerned about that?"
"Yes but this is far from the first time he's been concussed and he know what not to do"
"..."
"Ookaay, moving on, In order to properly answer your question some context is required, and since I find you entertaining you will likely get far more information than is needed but I'm bored and feel like talking so deal with it, to begin with you all need some basic understanding of the multiverse theory or almost nothing I say will make sense, a simple way of explaining it would be this."
"Take everything you've ever known, the earth, the sun, the stars, everything in the entire milky way, and imagine that all of it, every last bit, is inside of a box, now imagine that outside of this box is just an endless expanse of nothingness, and that if you were to travel through this nothingness, this void, you would eventually find more of these boxes, each of them containing their own world, completely different from your own, that is the multiverse theory in a nutshell."
*Okibo leaves the conversation and takes a nap on the floor*
"Now, on to the history of pretty much everything. In the beginning, there were two entities, Creation and Destruction, Creation is the one that makes the "boxes" that fill the void and after countless thousands of years Destruction consumes them."
"Now, there are a few ways to escape into the void, the easiest is to ascend to godhood and eventually build up enough power to simply leave your box, that's how The First did it, The First as you may have guessed was the first to escape into the void, and was the one that made the first of the citadels, massive cities floating in the void inhabited by Gods, and more recently, mortals, but we'll get to that later."
"Okay so, while The First was aware of the existence of Destruction he, like most gods, saw it as a non-issue, after all Destruction didn't move and neither did the citadels so it wasn't a concern, yes it would eventually consume their homeworlds but no-one was too concerned about that, but then came the day that The First's homeworld was consumed and he crumbled to dust in front of half the citadel."
*Kyojin finally manages to peel the banana and immediately drops it, he then goes and flops down on top of Okibo to cry*
"After The First's death the citadels fell into a panic, the people were terrified and those in power were scrambling, at first to find out what killed him, and eventually, to find a way to save themselves from joining him."
"They made countless attempts to save themselves and if I tried to tell you about them we'd be here for years, so instead I'm going to skip ahead to when we succeeded, you see, when a God makes it into the void their power mutates, for example, I was originally the God of vampirism, I was able to drain my opponents life force to heal myself and when I entered the void I became able to drain the divine power of my opponents to permanently strengthen myself, upon discovering this the God that was running things at the time had me go and try to fight Destruction, amazingly enough it worked, and now I have a little marble of doom, death and destruction."
*holds up a necklace with a black marble with a dark mist leaking from it*
"So, eventually, since world's weren't being destroyed anymore a new issue arose, some world's were becoming trapped in infinite loops, they would go through a big event or series of events and when it came to an end it all started over again, it didn't take long to realize that we could break the loops by disturbing the sequence of events and after that we stopped caring because even the weakest of Gods can break the loops, but eventually it was discovered that the trapped worlds could eventually "leak" into other worlds, typically in the form of TV shows, which gave me an idea."
"You see, the biggest issue with immortality that after awhile you get really, really, really 𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘥, and so I decided to make a tv show for Gods, once every 25 years we have 500 randomly chosen gods go out into the multiverse and select a Champion, they then give this champion a handful of powers and send them to a trapped world of their choosing, every 25 years any surviving Champions are given the choice of retirement on a citadel, travelling to a new world and going back to their homeworld. The show is called
The Multiverse Hunters."
"Now, as for your actual question, the God that's in charge of your homeworld was planning to make one of you his champion, of course that was before you pissed him off and broke his nose, now he'll probably kill you all on sight."
After a moment Kokatsu closed her eyes and took a deep breath before leaning forwards, massaging her temples and saying "So to summarize, the multiverse is real, gods are real, the gods have tv shows where people die and the god that owns our home wants to kill us. Did I miss anything?"
After a moment Eldritch responds "I mean, other than me wanting to make you all my Champions, not really."
Kokatsu, looking annoyed asked
"So basically our options are either sell our souls to you or die?"
Eldritch, surprisingly, actually looks offended. "Of course not! I might not have a moral compass but I do still have standards, if you don't want to be my champions then you can just pick out another world and I'll send you there."
"Okay that's good to know, but what 𝘦𝘹𝘢𝘤𝘵𝘭𝘺 would being your Champions entail?"
"Well, if you were talking to someone else they would tell you what their domain is and you would pick a power or two based on that, after which they would give you system to monitor the loop and a list of worlds that you could be sent to, when you arrived at the world you chose you would be a baby in the general region that the loop is centered on and from there you would have to break the loop without dying."
"However, you aren't talking to someone else, you're talking to me and I am horribly overpowered and as such, you wouldn't be limited by my domain in your power or world selection, you would be given access to the loop's train of events, you would be able to choose how you enter the world, as random people's children, as a specific persons child, you could replace a person or just appear in the world at an age of your choosing, you could customize the worlds, no constraints on adding people to your party, you would have access to a pocket dimension, honestly it's an absurd difference."
After a moment Kokatsu asked "You said that the trapped worlds could leak, could you give me an example?"
"I can give you a few, let's see, the"Mass Effect" trilogy is one, "Avatar:The last airbender" is another, the "Harry Potter" series is also one, is that enough or do you want more?"
"No that's good, you said there was a pocket dimension? Please elaborate, is it just for storage or can we actually go in it and live there?"
"I actually intend for it to be inhabited, that way if anyone comes with you when you world jump they have somewhere to stay if they aren't helping you, you have an entirely separate body for when you go into the dimension and you can even alter how time works there so that if you go to a new world as a baby they don't have to wait for years before they can do sh*t."
"What about the system, what does it do? Is it like in video games where you have stats or what?"
"Actually no, the system is there to manage the world travelling, power selection, character customization, the party system, enable long distance communication between you and your party members and protect you from mental illness.
And before you ask, normally only other champions can be party members but You are able to invite anyone and if they accept then they will effectively become a champion the next time you world jump.
Now then, unless you have any more questions I believe it's my turn to ask a question.
Do you want to be my champions?"
After thinking for a moment Kokatsu replied
"Yes"
"Shouldn't you ask your friends first?"
Okibo having woken from his nap chimed in with his first words of the fic "Kokatsu leads, wr follow." And then went back to sleep.
Kokatsu, looking amused, replied "Out of everyone you could possibly try to recruit Okibo and Kyojin would be the last to turn this down, even without the angry God that wants to kill us. And I'm finally getting a chance to attempt world domination, so yeah, we agree to become your champions."
Eldritch stood up and smiled before saying "Well then, there's no time like the present." And then snapping his fingers and making them pass out.
