What is he doing? Why is he running to us? He needs to run the other way. He pushes me and Alejandro away from in front of the car. He stands in our place. I hold Alejandro's head down so he doesn't see what is going to happen. In an instant, the car runs over him. Grandpa, why?
"What happened?" Alejandro asks but instead, I run to Grandpa's side.
"Grandpa," I begin crying, "Why did you do that?" He places a hand on my face. I place a hand over his. I hear footsteps behind me. I see who it is.
"Grandpa..." Alejandro falls on his knees. He crawls to him. Grandpa's hand moves from my face to his. Tears fall down his face.
"I'm sorry..." Grandpa manages to say. He looks at something. It's a letter on the floor. I grab it and place it in my pocket. Instead of Alejandro's note, the timeline has changed to where Grandpa has a note"I-I love you both..." He starts to hyperventilate. His eyes are almost closed.
"No don't die, Grandpa," Alejandro yells. Grandpa's eyes close "Do something, Gwen," He yells at me. He gets on him and starts CPR. "Wake up!" Alejandro cries painfully. He keeps doing the CPR for five straight minutes. He needs to give up. He's gone. I stand up. I place one of my hands on his shoulder.
"Alejandro...you need to stop," I say calmly but he keeps pressing up and down on his chest. "Alejandro," I say again. "Alejandro!" I scream to get his attention. He looks at me with those eyes full of agony and helplessness. Then he stops. He gets off Grandpa and he sits on his legs. I bend down just like he did at the Cherry Esplanade when I told him about Bo-A. I pull him into a hug. He sobs onto my shoulder as my heavy eyes give out. I can feel the water on my shoulder.
I realized I should stop running away from Alejandro.
I realized that I need him more than he needs me.
The paramedics tell us to leave the area immediately. Alejandro and I take a taxi to Grandpa's new house or at least it was his new house. When we enter, Aunt Areum is sitting on the couch with used tissues all around her. She stands up and stares at us. I'm sure she notices our red eyes.
"Where is Grandpa Alejandro? Tell me where he is!"
"He-" I choke back my tears.
"...passed away..." Alejandro finishes my sentence. I wrap my arm around his. Suddenly, I remember the letter that Grandpa. I pull it out of my pocket and open it. Aunt Areum moves next to me to see what I was looking at. Alejandro walks behind me "What's that?"
"A letter from Grandpa," My tear falls on the letter.
Dear Gwen:
This note wasn't a note meant just for you but I have things to say to you first. I know you must be confused why I threw myself in front of you two. During the time of your recovery, I not only have been making a cure for you but I have been time traveling to find a solution. To save you and Alejandro. I didn't want you two to die. If anyone deserves to live, it's you two. The only way was for me to be in front of the car. So yes I did change the future. However, Not only did I fix this but there is something at the end of the tunnel. When you get to the house look for 'the book.'
Alejandro, are you reading, I know you are. Gwen too. You two stubborn love birds. The only way for you two to be happy is to be with each other. You both need one another no matter what situation. I don't know why events turned out this way but in every timeline, I traveled to you two were together. Please cherish each other, don't give each other problems anymore. Okay?
And Areum. I'm sorry I had to go like this. Without saying goodbye. I know you are hurting. But I wanted to let you know something that I couldn't bring myself to tell you before. I love you. You're the first woman I loved other than Ahn-Jeong. I thank you for letting me feel what love was again.
I love you all.
Sincerely,
Your Grandpa Alejandro
I can't explain how I feel right now. He's gone. Why did he have to risk his life for us? He deserves to live as much as us.
One thing is for sure, I was confused about was what was this thing at the end of the tunnel.
"I- love you too," Aunt Areum says running upstairs.
"How is life going to be without Grandpa now?" Alejandro slides his hair back nervously. He throws himself on the couch. His face is dirty and sweaty. I go to the kitchen and grab a wet towel. I move the hair that fell on his face and pat the towel on his face.
"Don't worry. You have me," He glances at me but then looks away. He seems to be holding something back.
"Stop playing with my feelings, Gwen," He says moving away from me.
"I'm serious," I step closer to him.
"No, you are not. You are always with a new guy even if it's just a friend"
"That's not fair," I cross my arms feeling hurt.
"What's not fair?"
"Why do you think I needed someone who I can find comfort in? I didn't have Rosaline since she was always at work. Then you...you just left me. You left me when I needed you the most. The moment I was sick. All I wished was for you to be there for me. But you weren't. So sorry if I need people to help me get through difficult times"
"I said sorry"
"Well, sorry isn't enough," I think my emotions are taking over. He gets up and walks to the door. He can't leave.
"No, stop. I'm sorry," I look up at his face and he's crying. All my words hurt him and I don't notice it "...I need you, Alejandro...I know we can get through this together...slowly...but we can do it...please...I can't let you leave..." I stare at him, "You are my little star." He chuckles. He walks to me and intertwines his hands with mine.
"I love you, Gwen," My heart feels warm again. A feeling no one can give me except him "Even if you already said it before me through that Japanese quote," He scratches the back of his neck.
"I love you too," Instantly, he pulls me into a hug. We stay like that for a few seconds. Wait, I forgot about 'the book. ' I leave his arms and rush to Grandpa's room and look for the book. It's supposed to be on the third shelf to the left. Found it. Wait he wrote someone at the end of the book. It reads...
Now that you and Alejandro finally said you love each other. You need a restart. Go with Alejandro to the abandoned subway. Run as you did before. But as you run hold Alejandro's arm until you disappear. Once you are traveling, just run. Time with take you in the right direction.
Is this the tunnel he is talking about? I feel someone grab my shoulder.
"What's that?" I turn to see Alejandro.
"It's something Grandpa left for me...I still don't know what it means"
"Let me see," I give the note for Alejandro to read it. He begins to read and finally says, "We have to go to that place then...isn't the abandoned subway station at that abandoned parking lot?"
"I don't know," I say doubting if I should or even if I could go back there.
"You have to," He turns me around and puts both his hands on my shoulders. "Grandpa, left this for you," He shakes me.
"I-"
"Gwen, look at me," I move my head up to see his saddened eyes, the eyes that I caused to be like this. Every little pain shows in those eyes of his. "It's a restart. It will take you in the right direction"
"What if, " I take a deep breath, "What if the timeline changes and we never meet?" It hurts my heart thinking about it "I don't know a lot about time-traveling as Grandpa did. He's gone. How am I- I can't be without you. I cant los-" I shut my eyes making the water in my eyes fall down my face.
"Shh Shh," He places a hand on my face. "Don't say that. You won't lose me. I promise you. Trust Grandpa, Do you trust him?" I give him a slight smile.
"I trust him"
"Then let's go," He grabs my hand leading me downstairs. He grabs the keys from Grandpa's car on the key holder next to the door where he would always put them. We leave the house and get in the car. On our way there I become intensely nervous and the habit I always had to hold his sleeve made sense. We arrive at the abandoned parking lot. We get off the car "Hold my arm" I do as he says. "Lead us where you ran" We begin walking inside slowly the abandoned subway station. He has never been in here but I have. The memories come back to mind. I squeeze his arm.
"It's here," I stand where I began running last time. My legs start to become wobbly.
"I am here," Alejandro assures me, "I'm right here," I let out a deep breath and meet Alejandros eyes. Our eyes begin glowing. We are ready to run. As we begin to run, I keep my eyes on Alejandro. I remind myself what he said.
You won't lose me. I promise you.
I wanted to believe this. I didn't want to lose him. I am doing what Grandpa told me to. The one who never left my side. I remember a while ago we were talking at night. I was sick at this time.
"Gwen"
"Hmm," I said as I began falling asleep. I still heard him though.
"I know you haven't known me as long as I've known you. Yes, I know that I felt that you were a threat to Alejandro. But, behind the scenes, I watched you as if you were my family. As if you were my granddaughter," He grabbed my hand, "I will be there for you when you need me. Even if I am not there for you. There will always be someone there. I promise you that," He let go of my hand. He stopped before he left the room "I love you...always remember that...even if I am not there" Thinking about it now, I know why he said that. It was because he decided to jump in front of the car instead of me.
I close my eyes ready to disappear into time. And there I am. However, this time is different. I didn't travel to a specific time. I am on time. I am in the middle of time. There is electricity revolving around me. It's strange how it isn't touching me or anything like that. I blink my eyes several times. Maybe I am in a dream. I reach out to the electricity. Suddenly a flash of an image appears. The image is of Bo-A. I reach for the image but it disappears turning into a video. A video showing how Bo-A's death on the subway. Tears began to fall down my face. Another picture appears. It's a picture of my family. My mom, dad, little brother, and little sister. The way their deaths appear in my head even if I wasn't there when it happened. I squeeze my head and fall to my knees. Why? Why?! Why are my mistakes, my faults, the family in my life happening in front of me? My heart. I cry and cry. Tears flowing down my face like a river escaping a dam. How could Grandpa send me here?
"Alejandro," I yell in pain, "Save me...please," In an instant, I appear back in the abandoned subway station. I can't breathe well. I feel so contained as if I am stuck inside a box. I look beside me. Alejandro is right there. I hold my hand out to him and he quickly holds it in his hands. I fall onto him in exhaustion.
"I'm here. I am here don't worry" He pulls me in a hug and pets my head, "I'm here."
The next morning, I wake up in my bed at Aunt Areum's house. I walk to the kitchen table. I see both Alejandro and Aunt Areum eating breakfast.
"Good Morning," Aunt Areum and Alejandro say with big smiles. They seem extra happy today.
"Guess what," Aunt Areum says out loud.
"What"
"You are completely cured." My eyes open wide. That's the best news I have heard in a while. "All thanks to Alejandro. He was the answer for your cure to be permanent"
"Thank you, Alejandro," I smile as I sit down and eat breakfast along with them. I glance at him. He looked sad and broken. I remember him again...Grandpa. I stay quiet as they speak. I haven't told anyone what I saw last night neither did I want to tell anyone.
"Oh yeah, what happened with that Chae-m girl?" I pretend I am not listening.
"I told her that she's a nice person and that she deserves someone better because I was in lo- I had someone else. She smiled and understood me"
"That was very considerate of you to say it that way" It was. He was sincere.
"Gwen. Aunt Areum mentioned before that we are going to be an aquarium called the COEX aquarium," Alejandro jumps up.
"Sounds like fun," I said sighing with exhaustion. I don't think I got to sleep at all. After we finish breakfast we head to the COEX Aquarium. As we enter the aquarium, I realized I haven't seen any type of fish or aquatic animal in a long time. I roamed along by myself. I look at fish tanks, a garden of Korea, a huge tank with the biggest view. I felt like a tiny shrimp compared to the tanks. I walk down a bath with an arched roof and that arched roof is part of the huge fish tank. I had fish and sharks swimming over me. This made me think of Grandpa. He loved sea animals. He always say that after I got better we would go fishing on the sea on his boat. I wish we could have done that.
"This is so beautiful," I think out loud as a huge shark swims quickly over me.
"Like you," Alejandro appears in front of me.
"Ugh. You startled me," I place my hand on my heart. My heart is beating quickly. Was it because he scared me or is it because I never noticed how attractive Alejandro was?
"Sorry. How do you like this place?"
"It's good," I feel warm being close to him. Being close to the one who saved me.
"Yeah good for you not me. I was trying to look for you but I couldn't find you," He pouts while I shrug my shoulders. I begin to walk away. Suddenly, Alejandro throws his hands over me and puts something around my neck. He turns me to face him. I touch what is on my neck. It's a necklace. It's a moon with a diamond star hanging from the tip of the moon.
"Before you said the moon is beautiful. I was your little star. I am your little star. And I will always be with you," He becomes flustered "Uh so I do not want to be a younger brother to you...uh, I grew up...how to ask this...I wanted to ask you..."
"Ask me what?" I asked knowing what he wants to ask.
"Will you go out with me?"
"Yes"
"Ple- Wait what? You said-" He opens his mouth in shock.
"Yes," I smile. I hear someone clapping behind us.
"Finally," I see Aunt Areum "Grandpa was right. You two are love birds," Alejandro hides his face. I blush. He said he grew up. Now I can see that he isn't like a younger brother. He is a man. He is a man I am in love with. And from that day I decided to love him no matter what.
2 months later...
"Where are we going now, Alejandro?"
"I told you, you have to wait until we get there"
"But you take me on dates every day," I laugh and blush at the thought of it "Aunt Areum, tell Alejandro to tell me where we are going"
"I can't do that," I gasp.
"She knows too?" I mess up Alejandro's hair, "That's not fair"
"It took me 2 hours to do my hair." It must have taken him two hours to make this outfit too. He had on a grey turtleneck sweater with a white dress shirt over it. The white dress shirt is buttoned down a little making it look a deep V-neck. He wore black jeans and black dress shoes.
"Oops." I stop. The car comes to a stop. I see Cherry blossom trees everywhere. "Woah." I have seen this online. It is the Yeouide Cherry Blossom Park. The cherry blossoms come out in March. We get off and begin to walk on the sidewalk. I notice Aunt Areum seems to distance herself from us.
"Gwen," He lets go of my hand and gets in front of me grabbing both of my hands.
"Yeah," His eyes glowed. It isn't as noticeable as before. These past few months, the light of our eyes began becoming lighter.
"I love you," I giggle at those words.
"I told you not to say that in public," I cover my face.
"Aishiteru. Te amo. Je t'aime. Saranghae. Wo ai ni. Phm rank khun"
"Ok, ok. I know. You tell me every day. I love you too," He lets go of my hands and gets on one knee. Is he- He pulls out a box from his pocket. He opens the box and there is a gorgeous ring with a small diamond. Simple like I liked it. Tears accumulate in my eyes. A crowd gathers around us.
"It's been more than 20 years but 8 years since we met...we been through our ups and downs but I love you more than anyone in this world...I can't imagine my life without you...therefore I want to ask you...Will you marry me?" I wipe the tears on my cheeks.
"Yes. A thousand times yes," He gets up and puts the ring on my ring finger. He opens his arms wide pulling me into a hug. I can feel him smile wide as he places his head on my shoulder. I already planned our wedding in my head.
That afternoon we decided to have our wedding in a month because we are getting older and we ain't getting any younger.
On the day of the wedding
"Jane. Azul. Ann-Marie. I am so nervous"
"Girl, you will be fine," Ann-Marie says, "You took my man," She crosses her hands
"Oh, be quiet. Don't worry you will be fine. Azul, tell her! You have been through it"
"Yeah, when I married Hunter it was nerve-racking but once you walk down the aisle and see him your worries go away"
"Awww. Thank you Azul," She has kept my secret for a long time and never told anyone. She is a real friend. I haven't told Jane and Ann-Marie because I didn't want to think that I am Time Traveler. I wanted it on the back of my mind "Thank y'all," I pull them into a hug. "Y'all were always there for me when I needed someone the most. Even when some left my life. You didn't. You listened while I spoke...so thank you," I begin to cry.
"No, don't cry! You will mess up your mascara," The girls say quickly.
"It's not waterproof," Jane laughs.
"Who the barnacles- decided..." We all start laughing. They quickly fix my dress and position it for me to walk down the beach.
"I can't believe you are getting married to someone other than Akio. I always thought you would. So you would be my sister in law" His face looks like the laugh-out-loud emoji. However, I guess things don't turn out the way we think.
"Don't you have to wait for your da-" Ann-Marie stops as Jane bumps her shoulder. She got confused because my dad isn't here. He will never be. They leave the little trailer we are in quietly and head to sit down. I didn't invite a lot of people. Only my friends and Alejandro invited his dad, stepmom, twin sister, stepbrother, and his best friend. I always loved simple things and deep inside so did Alejandro. We decided on a beach wedding. I couldn't wait to go down the aisle. I take my red rose bouquet off the table and I leave the trailer, walking to the beach. I hold my ball gown up as I reach the sand. I look down and a hand enters my vision. I see whose hand this belongs to. Dad?
"Let's go down the aisle. That handsome young man is waiting for you," I grab his hand. I can't hold in these tears. But I try. As we stroll down the aisle slowly, I stare at my dad. How is he alive? I look up and see Alejandro. He is smiling brightly. My dad gives me to Alejandro. But as my dad quickly sits down. I notice my mom...my brother...my sister...Bo-A...sitting right next to him. I can't hold them anymore. My watering eyes give up making a waterfall fall down my cheeks. How could they be here...Instantly, I am reminded of Grandpa's words.
There is something at the end of the tunnel
Time will take you in the right direction
This is what he meant.
Grandpa, I'm sorry for doubting you.
I would have said if he was here.
Alejandro leads me under the arch with him. I remove all thoughts as the marriage officiant begins speaking. Alejandro and I stare into each other's eyes. Our eyes don't glow anymore. We endured our problems. We were okay. There is one thing I still see in his eyes though. The pain from his mom. The pain from losing Grandpa just as I. Wishing he was here with us. Wishing he was still alive. Things don't always go the way we plan. But I wanted to help him, help us get through all our problems, together.
After he finishes speaking it's our turn to tell our wedding vows. Alejandro goes first. He goes to the piano that I didn't notice before. Maybe because it is a clear piano. He sits down and places his hands on the keys. He and TJ exchange a look and music begin to play.
"This is going to my future gorgeous wife. This song is called 'It's you,'" Alejandro whispers in the microphone.
I remembered the day I met you
The tears made me be drawn to you
You were hurt
I wanted to help
Then 2 seconds and you're gone
Whoever knew
the stranger in the yellow dress
the woman at the coffee shop
the one always running away
From me
It's you
You're the one I need
it's you
Now and forever. You (Youuuu)
This is a new chapter, a happier chapter
Your smile that kept me going
Your hug that kept me warm
Your words helped me at my worst
And when you become overwhelmed I'll be right here for you (I'll be right here for you)
Now I want to say "I love you."
I want to make you happy
Make you breakfast in bed when you're not feeling well
To being there for you every day
From the beginning to the end
I have to ask you this first
Can I be your best friend?
The one that you share your secrets, laughs, tears with?
Can I-I—I call you my wife?
From this moment to the end of my life?
It's you
You're the one I need
it is you
Now and forever. You (Youuuu)
This is a new chapter, a happier chapter.
The music fades out and Alejandro stops playing. Everyone claps as he walks towards the arch where I am. I cried so much that I am probably a mess right now. I wipe the tears from my face and face Alejandro. It's not only me who is crying but he is too. He has always been emotional, that's one of the things I love about him. It's my turn to speak.
"I-I am kind of speechless after that song. That song that came from your heart. So many things come to mind. So many things I want to say. I want to start by saying Thank you, Alejandro. For not giving up on me. Even if we met 20 years, we ended up meeting again after 8 years. All these twists and turns I gave you. I thought it would be best if we didn't know each other if we didn't speak to one another. But I know now that I was wrong. I needed you. It took me 8 years to realize that. I promise to make that up. I promise to be yours forever." I hold his hands in mine "I promise to love and cherish you, Alejandro Park." I hear 'Aww's' from the seats. The marriage officiant tells us what to say next. Alejandro's little brother comes up with the gold rings. I grab his ring and he grabs mine.
"With this ring, I thee wed," Alejandro places the ring on my right hand. "Oops. Wrong hand," His face turns red as he scratches his cheek nervously. The crowd giggles and so does he. He's adorable.
"With this ring, I thee wed," I slide the ring on Alejandro's ring shaky finger.
"I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride," He says. My heart beats fast. I close my eyes and lean in. I feel his lips touch mine. A warm, sweet kiss. Our first kiss. It was 1 second but it felt like I was stuck in time. That moment. It started the beginning of our lives together.
We walked down the aisle. Our eyes stuck on each other. After all these years, we finally got married. We finally belonged to each other.
We walked to the big wedding cabana. Everything is white, string lights hung at every corner. Along with the flower chosen, the red rose. On the left side of the cabana is where the food is. There are appetizers dinner and dessert. We added a vegan table too. At the center, there is the wedding cake. This cake is made of three different ones combined into one. Each layer is a different flavor. You say a flavor, it will most likely be there. As Alejandro and I sat down, the husband and wife first dance. We stood up and went to the floor. The music played and we danced. It felt just like when we danced at Rosaline's wedding. Except this is our first dance as a couple.
"Gwen, if you keep smiling like that I'm going to have a heart attack"
"And if you keep looking t me like that. I'm going to faint," We both chuckle. We knew we sounded dumb and cringy. We invite the others to join us. Suddenly, I see my mom, dad, siblings, and Bo-A sitting at the tables outside of the cabana. I let go of Alejandro but he quickly takes my hand.
"This is what Grandpa meant. You know how I was your cure. The following day they called you but I picked up and told all of them to come. I wanted to give you a perfect wedding with those you care about"
"Alejandro" I feel so touched "I-"
"Don't need to say anything. I understand how you feel," I smile, "Now go before I have a heart attack" He bumps to my shoulder I run to my family and the friend I lost. I wrap my arms around my family.
"I'm so sorry," Warm tears slip down my cheeks.
"Honey it's ok. This wasn't your fault," My mom puts her hand on my head.
"I missed y'all so much"
"We missed you too," The family says.
"Do you not remember anything?" I wonder.
"Only a faint memory. We know none of it was your fault and that you tried your hardest to save us"
"We know your struggles Gwen," Dad says.
"But you should talk to Bo-A, lets go eat," My sister says as they get up and head into the cabana. I look over at Bo-A. My first, first best friend, the one that I lost 15 years ago but because of Grandpa. The timeline changed. She gives me a big hug. I start to remember my mistake, my ability that caused her to die. She risked her life for me.
"Bo-A," I sob, "Are you okay?" I get on my knees despite the dress. "I'm very sorry. Please forgive me. I never meant for any of this to happen"
"Gwen. No. No. No," She picks me up and helps me sit at the table "Don't be sorry. We all make mistakes and sometimes we don't mean to. I want to move on and be happy. I want to be friends again like the old days." I feel so happy hearing this from her. Seeing her here. It is unbelievable. My fault, my mistake has disappeared or more like it was in front of my face. I finally began to have a...restart.
That afternoon Bo-A and I talked about everything. I introduced my parents to Alejandro and he did the same with his parents. His dad despite his secrets in the past. He is a good man. A loving father and a hard worker. However, he is getting old quickly. Alejandro asked if he could have the Chairman spot at Park Group again. He said he wanted to because he wants his future kids to look at him in a good way as a hard worker, not a slacker. He wanted to be able to take care of them. I blushed at the thought of having children of my own. I loved kids so much and so did Alejandro. And to be called 'mom' would be a dream. Maiya already one child of her own named Camila and she would tell us stories about Camila. She is so adorable. Seeing her in her little dress tonight made her even more adorable. The cake was cut, everything went well. I could say that it went perfectly. Once the night ended, We said our goodbyes. Alejandro and I headed to Honolulu, Hawaii for our honeymoon. Our start began.
13 years later
"Nuna- I mean Baby" He still, always, calls me Nuna but I find it rather cute.
"Yeah, Honey," I say out loud.
"Where are you?"
"I'm in the laundry room. I am folding the kids' clothes." A few seconds later he walks in.
"Can you help me with my tie?" I look at his tie all bundled up. I stand up to help him.
"When are you going to learn? How many times have I showed you?" I quickly fix his tie "Done."
"But guess what?"
"What?"
"I do know how to do it. I just wanted you to do it for me"
"You little-" I begin chasing after him. He made me get up for no reason. He stops in front of me and picks me up. He leans in for a kiss. I hear footsteps.
"Eww. Mom, dad. Get a room." My oldest daughter out of 5, Sarang says.
"Your dad cant give his beautiful wife a kiss?" Sarang shakes her head no and he puts me down.
"What do you need, honey?" Sarang moves close to him.
"I wanted to tell you...I was the girl who traveled to the past to help you remember your memory"
"Huh?" I say.
"Oh, nothing," Sarang giggles as she grabs her backpack and waits in front of the door for the others.
"U-Ju, Baili, Nam-Jae, Alena," U-Ju is the second oldest. His name is Korean. Baili is the third oldest. She has a Chinese name. Nam-Jae is the fourth oldest and his name is Korean. Alena is the youngest. She has a Spanish name. Each one of them is one year apart "It's time for dad to take you to school," I hear footsteps down the stairs, "Sarang wait for your siblings"
"I'm 13 mom. I can go to the car alone." Those teenage years.
"And your brother is 12. There isn't much difference," I say with my hands on my hips. The rest of the kids come downstairs. "Brushed your hair, washed your teeth, and ate breakfast?"
"Yes," My little children respond. Oh yeah, I remember Alejandro said he would make breakfast for the kids today so I have a break. How loving of him. I give them big hugs and they give me kisses on my cheek.
"I love you all," I say as they walk outside with Alejandro.
"I love you too" They respond including Alejandro.
"You forgot something," Alejandro tells the kids to wait and comes back in. "This!" I steal a kiss. Even after 13 years of marriage he still blushes "Now go. You and the kids are going to be late"
"Oh later let's go to the Lotte World Magic Island Amusement Park with the kids. How does that sound?"
"Yay," They respond joyfully as they get in the car.
"Ok I love you, Gwen"
"I love you more, Alejandro," I said waving goodbye. I grabbed my packed bag and headed to the Muchangpo beach. Once I arrived, I sat on the sand and look out at the water, squinting my eyes because of the sunlight striking my eyes. However, the view, still phenomenal. I looked far into the distance, the ocean stretched far and far beyond what my vision can see. I become lost in my thoughts, I think of everything that has happened. I think about the person who helped me endure it. The one that kept me going even though he was not there.
Alejandro
I can never express how thankful I am to him.
For being patient with me.
For caring for me.
For loving me.
For coming into my life.
And it all comes down to that lost memory. Because of that lost memory, we belonged together, we stayed together. Because of that lost memory, we needed and loved each other. And because of that lost memory that drew us together, we promised to be there for one another, to take care of one another now and forever.
