Men and their egos, I thought to myself. When I was with Roy and wanted him to acknowledge me as his girlfriend, all he did was push me away.
Now that I was trying to get over him, he was trying to get me back, just for sex probably, I thought. But I wasn't going to be that pathetic person again. I wasn't going to get hurt anymore, waiting for him to love me back and acknowlege my presence in his life.
I wasn't going to let love and the need for Roy's love and affection,blind me all over again. I still had some feelings for Roy and it hurt me to tell him to stay away from me,but I had no choice. I couldn't be the same naiive girl I was before.
I had my unborn child to think about now, and just thinking of that calmed my heart as I placed my hand on my stomach.
As I was walking down the shops, I saw a little girl of about five or six years, outside an ice cream parlor,staring intently at the wide arrays of the images of ice cream.
I couldn't help but wonder where her parents were as she was all alone. Wasn't her parents aware of her missing?
"Hello little girl, why are you here all alone?", I knelt down to her level as I asked her. She only looked at me with big innocent eyes and it tugged at my heart.
I waited with her for sometime, in the hopes that her parents would soon realize she was missing and come look for her.
"Do you want to get some ice cream?",I asked her as no one seemed to be looking for her,and she nodded a yes happily.
We went and each got ourselves my favourite chocolate ice cream. As soon as she got the ice cream, she started to dash off to the door, so I paid quickly and ran after her.
"Don't ever do that to me okay Missy? You gave mama a fright. I don't know what I'd do without you",I heard a worried voice coming from the door.
The little girl saw me standing by the door, watching them and smiled at me while nodding towards me.
"Thank you for being so kind enough for everything that you've done. Missy needs special care and I don't know if I'd ever forgive myself if something happened to her",she said as she took my hand in hers, while the other hand held on to her daughter, apparently not wanting to take any chance.
"I was just at the right place at the right time",I shrugged and turned to the little girl and added,"But,as for you little girl,don't wander off alone anymore ok?". She smiled at me and I took that as a yes.
"By the way,I'm Miley Davis and she's my daughter,Missy Davis",she said and I was taken aback. Was she Roy's sister Miley? They did share the same surname, and it would be too coincidental for them to share the same name as well.
"Hi, I'm Isadora Miller",I obliged and shook her hands. "It was nice meeting you. You have a lovely daughter",I said.
"Are you new to this locality?",she asked me and I replied, "Yeah,we just moved in to the Fullers' apartment".
"What a nice surprise, we live there too. Please visit us sometime ok?",she said and before we could exchange our numbers, Missy sprinted off.
"I got to run after her. Please drop in sometime yeah?",she said hurriedly and I felt relieved to see her leaving. Miley seemed like a nice person, but I didn't want to run into Roy while visiting her and give him any chance of spouting nonsense that I was stalking him.
I went to a convenience store just nearby to buy Aurora's stuffs and while in there, I saw Alyssa shopping there as well. I sighed as I did not want to meet her, but we lived in the same building, so it was only natural to run into them occassionally.
It wasn't like I did something wrong for me to hide from her, I thought to myself and went to buy the stuffs.
When I was almost done and paying the bills, I felt a stabbing pain on my lower abdomen. I clutched my stomach but the pain was only becoming worse.
I took the bags and quickly dashed off to go to Joshua's clinic, but remembering it was a Sunday and probably closed, I took out my phone and dialled him.
"Issy, what's wrong", he answered after a few rings. 'Great, he thinks I'll only call him when something is wrong',I thought, but he wasn't wrong to think that either.
"Joshua, I have a stabbing pain in my lower abdomen, and I'm worried if there's something wrong with my baby",I gritted my teeth and told him. It was painful enough for me to be standing there,holding the stuffs I bought, so I went to sit on the bench in the pavement.
"Where are you? Are you outside?",he asked and I could only reply a "Mmhmm". "I'm on my way",he said and before I could reply, he hung up the call.
How would we know where I was, I thought but I didn't have the strength to think much about it. The pain was making me sweat profusely now. I tried to call Gabby but her phone wasn't going through and Aurora's came switched off.
Just as I was fumbling with my phone, to try and call Gabby, I saw a tall figure come and swoop me into his arms and carried me to his car.
I was dumbstruck, and I could only manage to say,"Aurora's stuffs",and pointed to the bags of stuffs on the bench.
Joshua put me in his car and went back a second time to get the bags and drove off to his clinic.
