Chapter 28 - Chapter 28

"Zeke and I are brothers,he's younger to me by six years",he said as he sat down on the grass beside me. I waited for him to continue, and he looked at me as if to decide whether he should continue.

"He is my mom's and my uncle's son",he said after sometime. I tried to digest the piece of news he told me,but I was much too surprised to maintain my cool.

"Not your normal relationship huh?",he smiled at me. "Just a teeny weeny bit weird",I replied honestly, and he chuckled at that.

No wonder he felt uncomfortable to open up about his unconventional relationship with Zeke. "And how did you feel about this whole thing",I asked,"your mom marrying your uncle?"

"I was a five year old kid, who only knew that my mom was not going to be around when I came home from school",he shrugged.

I wanted to ask more but propriety kept me from asking."So,it seems like we both learnt about each other a bit more today huh",I told him instead, and he smiled his dimpled smile.

With the sun setting down, the sun turned orange, and the light it emitted painted the world around us with golden yellow. It was really spectacular, and we both stopped and enjoyed the beauty of it all.

"I think its time you headed inside Issy. You really need to take proper rest for the sake of the baby",he said as he stood up and brushed off the dirt and grass from his pants.

"Sighs, I don't want to leave this place. This place is just too beautiful",I mumbled and he chuckled and replied,"You can always come here tomorrow, now let's go".

"Joshua, thanks for everything. All of these",I gestured,"it means a lot to me". "I guess you're welcome?",he shrugged as if he wasn't sure he was solving one of our biggest problems. He was just kind and humble that way.

We went in to the house and I decided I'd prepare the dinner as Gabby and Aurora were still asleep. At this rate, they wouldn't be sleeping at night but I didn't want to wake them up either as they would've been very tired.

I headed for the kitchen, and surprisingly Joshua was headed for the same. "I don't know how to cook like my mom, but I thought I would cook up something for dinner",I told him and he replied," I thought I advised you to rest Issy. Leave the cooking to me".

"You've already done so much for us, and its only right if I cook dinner for you", I refuted. He held me by my shoulder and led me to the chair by the kitchen island and said,"Just sit here and watch me cook". I could only blush furiously and nod a yes, while he chuckled.

He was like the kitchen god, chopping and cutting flawlessly and I could only hang my mouth wide open. How could a man have as many talents as he did?

This man could build the most beautiful garden, accomplish so much at a young age, a very successful doctor and now, I was witnessing his cooking talent. Some people were just blessed with immense talents.

"Wow, something smells good",Aurora said, as she came out of her room and sat beside me, still somewhat in a daze from sleeping till late afternoon.

"Wow, Dr. Williams, you sure are one eligible bachelor any gal would like to snag up for herself",Gabby joined in and I rolled my eyes at her. Lately, I seemed to be giving her a lot of my eye rolls, but I couldn't help it.

He was almost done by now and I stood up to help him with bringing the dishes to the table. Aurora helped as well, and we all sat down to have the hearty dinner that Joshua had so painstakenly prepared for us.

"Yum,I swear I could eat this forever. You're really a great cook",I praised Joshua's roast chicken and mashed potato, which was absolutely delicious. He smiled and replied,"I try".

"Issy,if you don't want him,I'll keep him for myself",Gabby whispered to me and I had to remind her,"What about Mark then?". That seemed to make her reconsider and I chuckled at her sudden change in demeanour.

Aurora and Joshua were busy talking about whether we could find a place to rent somewhere nearby. I turned my attention to their conversation as I figured that, that was more important than snagging up a man.
