Somewhere in a dungeon

A young man in his twenties was breathing heavily, his back against the wall. His face was completely pale with signs of exhaustion.

He looked like a person suffering from malnutrition.

He was wearing a brown jacket over a simple black undershirt. He was also covering himself with shoulder guards. Two daggers could be seen lying close to his arms.

His name was Sung Il-Hwan. He was around the age of twenty-seven with gray eyes, sharp black hair, and a muscular physique. He had a wife and two children waiting for him at home.

He was actually working as a firefighter a few years ago. But soon the entire world changed as weird portals started appearing in the world. And what came from them were magical beasts that were difficult to deal with by normal means.

To deal with a threat from the magical beasts, humans evolved and awakened powerful abilities. With these abilities, they could face these magical beasts and can kill them.

Sung Il-Hwan was among the people who awakened. He decided to quit being a firefighter and started working as a hunter instead.

A few months prior, he received a report of a portal appearing in the middle of a park close to his home. He immediately wore his gear and came with other hunters to close the portal.

Despite the poor management, the team was able to take down the boss but to help his friends escape in time, he got left behind and stuck in the portal.

And since the portal dimension existed in another space, it was almost impossible to return unless, with some miracle, it opened again.

Taking deep breaths, Il-Hwan sighed heavily, thinking of his family as he raised his head to see a few figures glowing in divine light surrounding him.

The figures were not human and were at least twice, if not thrice the size of a human. Draped in silver robes with light tan armor and a grayish-blue cloak, the mysterious figures had large white wings, long silver hair, and glowing white eyes.

They looked like angels from the children's comic books.

"This is the best deal we can offer you, human."

"Take our hand and you'll be able to live longer."

"You don't have any other choice left."

'Do I really have no choice? It seems I cannot even see my children again.'

Staring at those angelic beings, he eas lost in thoughts. 'Do I have to agree with their conditions? Aren't they also magical beasts? Do I now have to become the vessels of these creatures to even have this hope of seeing my family once more before death?'

Sighing, he thought. 'But it was still better than dying just like that. Maybe if I complete their tasks, they will let me go.'

Il-Hwan's eyes turned resolute as he opened his mouth. "I ag-..."

"Huh? There is a human in this godforsaken place."

But before he could agree, a clear voice startled hIl-Hwan, as he froze in shock.

Not only him but even those angelic beings looked very astonished.

All of them turned their heads toward the source of the voice.

They saw a young man around the age of twenty-four and twenty-five, approaching them.

He was draped in white robes, looking like an immortal from heaven. He was very handsome and elegant, like a clear jade tree in the wind.

He walked out smoothly from the interior of the cave, approaching the group step by step.

All the angelic beings felt their scalps tingling, taking a step back in fear.

The other party hadn't even arrived close to them but they could perceive a terrifying might from the newcomer, strong enough to threaten their lives.

The young man ignored the angelic beings like they didn't even exist as he walked over to Sung Il-Hwan.

"I have been looking for a person for quite some time and finally found one. Will you please tell me where is this weird place?"

Sung Il-Hwan was in a daze. He had never seen a human alike the young man in front of his eyes. Sung Il-Hwan had a feeling that the young man was etheral, giving him an illusion that he would disappear at any moment.

"Are you... perhaps God?" Sung Il-Hwan asked, his eyes wet with tears. "Are you here to save me?"

Humans were just like this. Even if they tried to deny the existence of gods via scientific facts, when they faced a hopeless situation, they first prayed to God to save them.

The young man smiled and placed his finger on Il-Hwan's forehead. "I'm just a human like you."

Suddenly, the young man's eyes lit up with bright light for a brief moment before returning to normal. He smiled lightly and patted Il-Hwan's shoulder.

"Now, it's time to return to your home."

"I... I can go back home? Really?" Sung Il-Hwan was so emotional, finding it difficult to make a sentence properly. "I... can meet my family again."

The young man didn't speak but Sung Il-Hwan saw the two of them covered in a shiny barrier, illuminating the place.

The angelic beings only reacted now, quickly raising their heads. Pointing their hands they tried to stop them.

"W-Wait!"

The young man smiled as he glanced at them. "We'll meet if fate allows it."

And with those words, the young man and Sung Il-Hwan got swallowed by a bright light, disappearing.

"W-Who is that?"

"He can use the power of Space?"

"What's going on here?"

"Find him. We have to find him quickly!"

The angelic beings were panicked and seemed very anxious.

"Calm down!"

Just as the group was panicking, the one that was slightly stronger than them spoke, his voice carrying an authoritative tone.

"Everyone can see that the human just now was not an ordinary human at all. Since he has left, it is highly difficult for us to search for him unless he wants to show himself. So, there is no need to panic."

Looking at all the other angelic figures, he continued. "We'll continue with our plan. If he will interfere with our plan, then we will deal with him. Until then, we should focus our attention on our top priorities rather than trying to deal with someone who is a mystery."

The others looked at each other and found his words logical. All of their top priority was now to deal with the Monarchs.

Since that human didn't seem to pose any threat to them, they could currently avoid him.
