Sitting in the kitchen with a glass of hot lemon tea in front of me, I willed even a hint of sleepiness to start overtaking me. But nothing like that happened, not that I expected it to. Though one can hope.
Taking a sip of the lemon tea as I stared blankly at nothing, the sound of the minutes ticking away in the clock somewhere in the room. I can't be bothered to find out.
The light from the moon outside, entered through the sheer, black curtains, giving everything a silvery glow.
Walking to the windows, I opened them, letting the cool air enter the room along with the moonlight as I stood on the balcony, staring at the empty road in front of the house.
Little sounds of crickets and other insects filled the area. If I didn't know what lies in the shadows out there, I would have thought of the world as a very peaceful place.
