Chapter 54 - [Service Connection – Galaxy Wide!]

"Carter, I swear… you will pay…

You fucking bastard!"

Esmond had no pleasant words for Carters, as he felt furious for being fooled.

Not waiting any longer to curse the bastard, Esmond started planning out his revenge, but hearing the bastards voice triggered his anger, ten folds over.

'HAHAHAHA HOWS…. HALO!!!

BAHAHAHA!'

"… You're lucky… it's still Mass Effect…

… Otherwise… I would have no doubt made you suffer… once I got back…

Motherfucker…" Esmond felt his throat was spitting out flames as he spoke because of the anger bubbling up to the surface.

Carter didn't make it any easier with the non-stop laughing.

Thankfully the sound of gunfire distracted the two enough for them to finally picked on their environment.

'Rigggghhhhtttt….. Geth bastards are here…' Carter said nonchalantly, not concerned about the troubles that laid ahead for Esmond.

For him, it was like live T.V with an interacting aspect.

.

Esmond didn't want to say anything else and instead brought out his armour and weapons, opening a gate for the few drones to enter.

Equipped with the latest rifles designed for the armed forces named MAR-01 because of its module design that allowed the rifle to be personalised depending on the shooter's preference.

The rifles used the power cells Esmond had created as the ammunition, with energy from the cells turning into small particle bullets, that depending on the energy charged into the shot could leave a small hole which wouldn't be discernible to the eyes or level out a building.

David, the scientist that improved upon Esmonds first schematics of the power cells and Sam the head of the weapons program for the armed forces were working together as of late to work on various projects concerning warfare.

They'd already created several iterations of the Module Assault Rifle but so far, the MAR-01 was the only tested and proved rifle that passed Carter's inspection.

Seeing the rifle in his hands, the dark colour tones and sleek design made it feel very sci fi, but it still retained the modern rifle design look.

.

'Better get moving! I see a huge fleet of Geth making their way to the colony sight!'

Carter shouted while Esmond was running across the surface of Eden Prime, trudging across the rough terrain before he could make out the sight of the human colony.

The spaceport, where the beacon was currently set up wasn't too far away from the group of humans that would be first attacked by the Geth.

There was just more than a minute before the Geth Troopers arrived, so Esmond quickened his pace, activating his Lifeforce Pace Control so he could make it in time to human group.

Some of the humans that were working near the port, busy with the containers that sent produce of all sorts, started to notice a blur making its way towards them, but before they could ask, the alarms started to go off, alerting the people that trouble was approaching.

While everyone was running around, trying to save themselves or find someone they knew, not knowing if it would be their last moments or not, nobody noticed Esmond summoning a gate to the space as he called for back up that was more than prepared.

.

Out of the gate came 20 PD-01s, 20 PD-01As, 5 C-PD-01As, 6 PD-01AGs, and an assortment of the military droids that's been designed by Esmond and Tulluan, all being overseen by Kane and Vaazakra, who were also sending surveillance drones out to help them map out the surrounding area.

Carter was also helping out by setting up some protective guards for the droids to use but also to hide the drones so he could collect the Geth Troopers and Recon Geth drones that would be shot but also to try and connect with the Geth mind.

He hadn't said anything to Esmond about his plans because he believed Esmond would oppose the decision.

Carter wasn't wrong since it was on Esmonds mind as well to ask one of the A.Is to connect with the Geth, but he feared them being infected or harmed instead because of their intrusion on the Artificial race.

.

Everyone had roughly 30 seconds before the Geth appeared, so Esmond thought it would a good idea to check one the nearest Commander droid.

"Hey, is everything prepared?"

"Yes, My Lord, we are just setting up the snipers and infantry before the PD units are spread out and sent to oversee certain squads." The Commander droid said who was also wearing the CE-01 armour suits though his was painted all black with streaks of red.

Esmond didn't know the military system Kane had developed till now but seeing the droids for the last dozen or so seconds, he could tell immediately they were highly efficient and battle ready, all within 20 seconds.

He asked the droid beside him, "Do you have a name?"

"Yes, My Lord, we all do.

Everyone comes with their own.

I am named Aven…"

"Nice to meet you Aven, I'm Esmond…"

"… It's a pleasure to meet you My Lord, now I believe it's time we pay attention to the surroundings."

Disbelief and utter amazement were written all over Esmonds face, with his emotions evident of the sheer shock he felt seeing the Aven behave exactly like a human.

The small movements, the little corrections and anticipation were signs of a human.

Esmond honestly believed if he didn't know they were droids, he would have thought they were all humans.

.

Taking the advice of Aven, Esmond got ready as his HUD system informed him of the incoming Geth Troopers and Recon Drones around the corner.

Included in the mix were Geth Destroyers, a heavier class of armed Geth soldier.

Esmond felt surprised at the number of Geth armed robots.

Knowing strength in numbers could turn the tides of wars in a heartbeat, Esmond though for a second there might not be enough droids to support him, but he soon figured out how dead wrong he was…

Ohhh… so dead wrong…

.

The thing was Esmond knew about the set up of the autonomous thinking within each of the droids and their link up together.

He'd designed it in a way so each droid would learn in real time conflict and combat, improving itself and the whole network of droids.

Because of this, Esmond assumed the droids might have some issues at the beginning of the conflict with positioning, aiming, and strategy.

Esmond believed it to be an inevitable process using droids, but what he didn't know about was Kanes and Vaazakras interference.

While they were given the order by Esmond, the amount of freedom Esmond gave them was a fair amount depending on what their topic of expertise was.

Kane was given access to many of the projects from the Virtual World and brought them over to the A.I World, immediately utilising them in his war games.

The droids were also part of the projects Kane worked with and improved during his games, but once Vaazakra arrived, the two started conducting all sorts of trials and missions with them.

However, once the space was affected and became the Spatial Ark Star World, the A.I World Esmond built upgraded along with the Virtual World as it utilised the same systems.

When that happened and the droids that were created finally came online, the autonomous thinking programming within each of the droids created their personal profiles which became uploaded to the network.

Kane and Vaazakra saw these profiles as their soldiers and with them continually growing with every new droid going online, they continued to expand their war games.

Scarlett, who managed the emergencies services, was also dragged into their mess, and started using the police, medic, and firefighter droids in its crisis games.

It'd even learnt how to make Profiles for the droids and could even upload them to any droid in Scarletts control.

This new information helped Kane and Vaazakra increased the number of Profiles that could join their war games, but more so meant they started to final various types of fighting styles and methods each Profile developed over time.

When the two A.I heard Esmond needed them in action, they gathered the best of the best Profiles and got them ready for combat, prepared to show their Master what they'd accomplished so far.

.

There was a large opening full of Geth robots, charging in Esmonds direction.

In his mind, Esmond thought Kane had left things way to late to ambush the Geth as they were too close, but the second the HUD system confirmed the attack, Esmond was frozen still as his droids wiped through the Geth.

Every shot was pinpoint accurate, as the shots aimed for the head wiped out the robots in seconds.

Carter was busy collecting and analysing the Geth carcases so he could find the weakness of the robots for the droids to exploit.

It didn't take Carter long as he was able to find the weakness around the right side of the chest, which contacted the controls for movement.

Uploading the information, the droids were immediately notified by Kane during combat, and they quickly started making adjustments.

All this happened within the few seconds Esmond was frozen still, amazed at the speed his droid army operated.

His mind finally clicked when he heard Carters painful voice.

.

'AARRRGGGHH!... This… Fucking… Prick!!!'

"Carter!! What is going on?!"

'Argh… nothing… just connected with the Geth network…

Fuck… that shit hurt…'

Carter continued to painfully groan and curse every so often, concerning Esmond, who'd finally joined the fight and was keeping up with his droids.

Weirdly he picked up on the side of the HUD system that Kane was keeping track of everyone's hits and giving them points.

Esmond wasn't doing too well compared to the others, especially Aven, who was carving through the Geth and already racked up more than 20 Geth victims within a minute or so.

Seeing the droids weren't useless like those from Star Wars and far superior than he ever expected, he thought about heading for the beacon while they managed the fight.

Through the pain and cursing, Carter was directing Esmond to the higher platform where it rested.

No Geth were around since droids had a tight hold on the spaceport, stopping the Geth from making any headway.

Using Lifeforce Pace Control, Esmond was standing before the 2.4-metre-tall Paleo – Technology beacon which had certain inscriptions glowing across them.

Esmond opened a gate and summoned some drones that Echo was handling as Carter was too preoccupied with the Geth network and collecting Geth robots.

Echo merged the drones together and created a humanoid droid before walking over to the beacon.

Beforehand, Echo had gone online and searched for a walkthrough on the mission and knew what happened to Shepard, so Echo was behaving carefully.

Once he was in touching distance, Echo quickly started scanning and examining the beacon, downloading whatever information he could.

Carter was also dragged in when Echo couldn't manage the information he was scanning through, thankfully Esmond had his own plans.

He opened a gate, sending the beacon into the space, using Lifeforce Control to manipulate the air around the beacon to lift it into the space.

Esmond heard a couple sounds in his head, with further curses from Carter until the gate reopened and spat the beacon back out.

Carter was careful to not let the beacon be upgraded by the space, as his attention was rather on taking in all the information the space had found, unfortunately it wasn't the right time yet.

.

Using whatever time was left, Esmond used his HUD system to get in touch with Aven.

"Aven, Give them hell! Leave nothing behind!"

"Understood My Lord!

All Units! Bring them down!!"

Avens voice echoed through the head gear of every droid as they all confirmed his order and began taking out the Geth at an alarming rate, far from the expectation Esmond had for the droids.

Within minutes, what was left of the Geth wave that was supposed to take out the human colony was wiped out and cleared away by the diligently drones in Carter's control.

Esmond had a look at the conditions of his quest and saw everything was completed, including keeping the human colony alive.

Seeing things were safe and sorted now, Esmond ordered Aven to lead him to the humans that were safely secured inside the spaceport.

Heading inside, Esmond saw thousands of people, immediately thinking about the consequences for all of these people if he never came.

He didn't want to go over and interact with the humans, but seeing the scared faces on the people, it really reminded him about the dangers associated with space expansion and alien lifeforms.

Just as he was about to leave, Esmond saw a small girl make her way through the front of the crows and came in her direction.

.

"M-mister… dank you…"

Even though she had a cute little lisp, Esmond waved at the little girl as she ran back to her mother's arms.

"Innocent children dragged into the mouth of death…" Aven said, annoyed that the innocent children would give been slaughtered if they didn't come.

Esmond and Aven left soon after as they left to find the rest of the droids helping with the clean up on the area before heading back into the space with the opened gates around the area.
