Chapter 23 - Race

I think this goes without saying but anything changed from the Arrowverse canon is in line with what I'm making...a fanfic. Keep an open mind. If it bothers you that much when I change something to fit with my story, go and watch the source material. This is a place for people who want to see different outcomes and spins to their fave stories.

I'm a nascent writer. I ain't perfect but goddamnit I try.

If you want to read more my pat.reon is 10 chapters ahead. Pat.reon.com/Saintbarbido.

"Caitlin! You can't seriously be considering this! Going out there to confront Drakon is dangerous. He's a killer."

"I have to. If he's infact Jin then that means I can reach him. Maybe get him to surrender. Cisco, you have to let me do this."

Caitlin tried to convince Cisco but he vehemently refused.

"Dr.Wells won't allow you to go out there and risk your life. We've only known Jin for a couple of months Caitlin. This is stupid."

Caitlin ignored him and took her purse, leaving.

"Wait just wait. What if we sent Barry over to check? It's safer that way."

Caitlin stopped and looked back.

"Dr.Wells won't like it. We don't have a good relationship with the army, remember? And if they are there he won't be keen on revealing our resident meta to them so openly."

Cisco nodded gravely.

"It's a chance we'll have to take. Plus, who knows? if Drakon does turn hostile and the army fails to contain him, they might need Barry's help."

Caitlin finally relented and left to go to her office. Cisco sighed and ran a hand down his face in frustration.

"Time to make a call. Forgive me Dr.Wells."

(Present)

(Jin's P.O.V)

I tightened the hold on Barry's shoulders and heard him grunt. He looked at me with a little bit of fear in his eyes.

"How...?"

"How what?"

"How are you keeping up with me?! Are you speedster?"

I released him and flicked his forehead. He quickly sped back away.

"Nope. At least not your run of the mill kind."

"Then what are you?"

"A pioneer? No, a revolutionary."

At his incredulous look, I felt the need to explain.

"You see Barry, I got a little jealous after seeing you blitz around the city faster than a jet so I decided to get some of the same mojo powering up your speed. Turns out however, that I can't join your special boys club but luckily, my cells were changed enough to be able  accommodate the speed force energy running through your body. So that left me with only finding a source of energy potent enough to give me superspeed. Long story short, I'm lightning incarnate."

Flashes of purple lightning streaked all over my form as my eyes changed into electric purple. Barry's breath grew erratic and he took off without a word leaving me dumbfounded. Did I look that intimidating? A laugh escaped my throat and I sighed. Should I follow him? The whole night had been chaotic and all I wanted to do was rest...yeah right. I still needed to test out my speed and when have I ever ran away from a challenge?

I formed a sharp blade of ice razor and sliced my finger. I had to reinforce the structural bonds of the ice to be able to pierce my skin. I held my bleeding finger over the ice manacles holding Blackout in place and a drop of blood fell on the clear white ice. The blood soaked in and disappeared.

"You know what to do."

Saying that, I blasted off while following the blur of red at my front.

Everything was surreal. The quiet buzz of electric energy underneath my skin, the soft air blowing on my upper body due to negating the bulk of it from hitting me directly, the pumping of my heart as it circulated blood throughout my system, the sight of my surroundings passing me by as I tore down towards the city and the feel of my feet as they ate the tarmac with barely an effort.

"Hahahaha. This is awesome."

I shouted and increased my speed to near supersonic. The flash was tearing down the buildings upon entry to Central City well in my view. 'Oh so he wants to race huh?'

Boom! I broke the sound barrier and mentally reminded myself to negate the loud sound next time I went faster than the speed of sound. That was the good thing about my aero-kinesis. It was powerful enough to do that. Sound being spread through air...all I had to do was make the space around me a vacuum before I went supersonic. Or something like that. Having Devoe's thinker powers off... science was no longer bread and butter for old regular Jin Anderson.

Though to reiterate, there ain't nothing regular about the speeds I was going at. Nearly there...

"Hey man... how's it hanging?"

Barry's eyes widened behind his mask and he increased his speed. I knew he still couldn't believe that I had managed to catch up to him. This was early canon Barry who still thought that he was the fastest man alive.

I remained persistent in following him even as we dodged around cars, navigated about people without so much as hurting one and streaked through buildings. If someone was watching us from up in the skyline of central city they'd probably see 2 streaks of light racing around the city. They would also probably see the purple streak catch up with the red and slam it onto the walls of a building.

"What's wrong? You seem a little winded."

I taunted and then punched him on the gut before speeding away.

The flash started chasing after me closely after that and I laughed at him before increasing my speed and running up a building.

(Barry's P.O.V)

At this point I had been surprised alot but this definitely took the cake.

"Huh...Cisco, Caitlin...he just ran up a building. How fast do I have to be to do that?"

"You just recently hit mach 1 so yeah you can run up the building. Not really something I'd ever thought I'd say to anyone."

Cisco told him through the comms.

Barry nodded and prepared to  start chasing after Drakon again.

"Barry is it really him?"

He heard Caitlin's voice and almost contemplated not answering.

"Uh..yeah. Sorry Cait."

He finished lamely.

He didn't know what Caitlin was going through. She had a special connection with Jin and him turning out to be Drakon had hit her badly.

"But I promise you Caitlin, I'm going to make sure he's stopped."

He assured her.

"Thanks Barry."

It was with renewed zeal that Barry took off again.

(Thawne's P.O.V)

Things hadn't gone according to plan. The whole plot had been derailed by a lack of proper information about Anderson's full powers. Just as I'd anticipated he'd been hiding more abilities than he had earlier disclosed. It was a good thing I had sent Eiling after him after all.

Hydrokinesis, weather control, superhuman physiology, a sort of earthquake generation power and now he had acquired superspeed. His superspeed was different from the usual kind. Showing that he wasn't drawing power from the speed force. This also meant he wouldn't be able to access the temporal and spatial abilities that come from the speed force. Hence his speed was an inferior version. So why? Why was he keeping up with Allen? I didn't have the slightest idea.

Someone with his powers would have posed a serious problem to me. Would have being the main words. I looked at the bodies lying around the ruined yard and smiled. Blackout had displayed even more unique powers and if I would have had the time I wouldn't have minded studying him. But time was of the essence. Unfortunately for her, Bette Sans Souci was going to be the key to all this. I had seen it through my cameras that he had tried to protect her. I would use that against him.

"Wakey wakey Blackout."

I stepped up and nudged his prone body. A vibrating hand got rid of the icy manacles restraining him. I started slapping his face but it seems like he was really out of it.

"Blackout. I need you to get up before I make sure you never do."

A trident of ice stabbed at where I had been, just milliseconds ago.

"You'll have to try harder than that. I have godly reflexes."

"Oh trust me... I'm ready to give it my all."

I looked at the subject of my constant headache. How was he here? I could see through the HUD on my mask that he was still racing around the city against the flash.

"How...oh, you're a clone aren't you?"

Interesting. So he can also make independent copies of himself?

That cocky smile I hated was back.

"So? Think you can handle a clone? Don't underestimate me man, or you'll be sorry."

I sighed in annoyance and stabbed a vibrating hand through the clone's chest. My hand went through him like a sheet of paper but he only laughed. His face started cracking to reveal the icy layers that made up his body. I instantly went intangible as he exploded into sharp ice fragments aiming to make swiss cheese out of me.

Well that was a waste of my time. I could see them coming back so without further ado...I formed a charge of lightning and poured it into Blackout's body. He instantly woke up with a deep breath and I pulled him into flash time. Things this time would have to go well.

(Jin's P.O.V)

My eyes widened after receiving memories from my clone. Thawne was in my front yard. A hard look came upon my face. I could still feel Barry following me closely so I suddenly stopped and as he passed me by shot him with a blast of lightning from the side. He stumbled and fell. Badly. I knew he could handle the impact but he would most definitely be feeling that tomorrow. I sped towards him and with a chop to the neck Barry was down for the count. I got a hold of him and sped off towards the star labs at the fastest speed I could manage then.

I propped him up at their door and sped away towards my house. When I got there, Thawne was already gone and Blackout was up...and holding a squirming Bette by the throat. He had a sharply pointed tentacle at her neck and was hovering 20 feet above the ground. Held up by his multiple limbs.

"That's far enough. Wear these if you don't want to see me skewer her."

He told me before throwing down a pair of power-dampening cuffs at my feet. I breathed out in frustration. I knew my body was strong enough to break the cuffs but it would still be annoying.

"Well played Blackout but trust me you don't wanna do that."

"Oh but we do."

"Let me...go..."

Bette added while struggling.

"Shut up! He promised to get rid of our hunger. Forever."

"Fine, I intoned, "I'll wear the stupid cuffs. Just make sure you'll let her go. She's the bomb. Literally."

I picked up and wore the damn things. All of a sudden, I lost access to all my powers except the Percy Jackson set. Blackout smiled and  instantly my heart sank. I turned to Bette and saw her widen her eyes in pain as the spike went through her neck. Fuck. I should have known that this idiot would still kill her no matter what I did. And now, She's gonna blow.

My heart pumping I snapped the cuffs on me into pieces and blasted off.
