The fight lasted for a day and a night. The ghosts including the Ghost Lord were vanquished in a ferocious fight between ghosts and humans, not without any cost on the human side. The Three Realms Peak had to bid farewell to some disciples who died in a valiant attempt to protect the border.
Zhang Jin was the only person remaining from the village, caught up in the fight. At the end of the fight, he managed to survive and lay broken and wounded on the ground amongst the piling corpses.
The death of the villagers was most unfortunate. Although the six immortals had no idea that a Ghost Lord had cooked up such a wicked plan, they still felt guilty about ignoring the villagers. If only they properly responded and rejected them right away, then maybe these young men would still be alive. They might be disgruntled about their unchanging fate, but they would at least still be alive.
