The Long household used to employ more guards, maids, and servants when all three manors had their own masters. During that time, the First Madam was very busy tending to household management. She was stuck inside the residence getting internal tasks done, and so assigned external tasks to select head maids and head servants.
After Xiao Yue moved out and took a third of the maids and servants to Long Zhao Feng's estate, Long Zhao Feng himself moved in but he stayed more often in his estate, which was closer to the palace. His manor did not have year-round attendants. The First Madam merely sent servants over to clean up once a day so that whenever Long Zhao Feng came back, there would be no dusty surface but clean sheets awaiting him.
The Second Madam left the Long household around two years ago to go back to her father's house. She took some of her closest aides and therefore balanced out the number of attendants in the Long residence nicely.
