Sensing the fireball flying towards his comrade, the other guy on the front hurriedly ran to provide aid.
Raven was still calm after seeing what was happening. It was exactly what he had expected after seeing the shield on the guy's back.
In his observation, this group of people would have at least someone who can protect them from the front. And that guy with the shield, well, he's the only one with a shield around so...
This plan of him wouldn't have worked if it wasn't for the group passively waiting for their chance, instead of being aggressive towards Uriel.
No one can blame them though, Uriel's power was really that scary.
But that's also why Raven signaled to Uriel to attack the guy on her left. He predicted the guy with the shield would hurry towards the other guy to help block Uriel's full-blown attack.
After jumping from the branch, Raven was still in the air when all of that was happening.
He finally shot his slingshot at the running figure of the guy.
Pwooof
It hit squarely towards the right side of the shield guy's face.
And before anyone can process what just happened.
He held the knife on his mouth with his right hand to strike down the woman's head while descending, borrowing the downward force of his fall to add power to his strike.
Splurt
The force was horrifyingly strong that it destroyed the upper part of the woman's head before she fell on the ground.
The woman didn't even have the time to cry for help when all of that happened.
After landing, Raven saw that without the shield guy's assistance, the other guy with a sword was forced to block Uriel's attack on his own.
He didn't want to waste the chance, Raven swiftly pounced towards the 'sword guy' while unsheathing a small pointed object from his feet.
The shield guy can't also provide support as he was entangled with Raven's special gift.
Splurt
A silent stab at the sword guy's nape.
As if not still satisfied with the poor guy's situation, Raven kicked the crude knife to sink it even further.
Raven also retreated hurriedly to not get a wisp of Uriel's attack.
"Oof, that was certainly hot."
When suddenly...
Raaaaa!!
An enraged cry came out from the shield guy's location.
After seeing his comrade die one by one by this young man, the shield guy was obviously livid as he cried towards the sky.
Like a novel protagonist ready to transform into a demon for his loved ones.
Raven knew their current situation was dangerous because his plan would end in him 1v1-ing this guy but..
He couldn't help but twitch his eyes, cringing from this guy's show of emotions.
'Now that I think about it, it seems I have to deal with a lot of people with grade-eight syndrome in this world, fucking hell.'
A small crack was where it started, until it became a fissure that reached towards Raven.
A fifteen-meter tall golem made of rocks stood up from the ground.
It was the shield guy's spirit insignia, evident from the glowing circle of runes from his chest.
Uriel also have those runes glowing when she uses her insignia, but it was located in her hands.
"Oh? So insignias have these variations as well? Interesting."
Raven said, retreating away agilely while planning his next course of action.
The shield guy and the monster he summoned was completely locked on him. It wouldn't be wise to go straight for Uriel on this time to help her up or whatnot.
"Hang in there lass, I'll come fetch you up later."
Raven said under his breath, watching the golem continuously getting taller and bigger as time passes by.
*****
After Uriel fired her last fireball, she cancelled the usage of her insignia instantly.
She also fell down to the ground, panting heavily as black veins were bulging on her entire body; even her eyes were smeared with a hint of black.
"This side effect... is really... a bother."
Uriel said weakly, struggingly trying to raise her head to observe what was currently happening.
Her eyes immediately flashed with an amazed look, completely entranced by her brother's fluid motions of attack.
That graceful leap, the mid-air shot to his devastating descent, and that quick strike accompanied by a roundhouse kick.
Everything from start to finish was smooth and quick.
It didn't even take ten seconds to accomplish all of that, but it completely obliterated the whole group of three.
"A-amazing..!"
She mumbled in daze at her brother's parade of skills.
Heck, she didn't even flinch towards the gory scene when Raven landed a blow to the poor woman's head.
At Uriel's age, everything her brother does was amazing.
But who wouldn't be? Raven was the cream of the crop when it comes to these kinds of stuff.
Now confident that the fight was practically finished, she finally breathed easily while lying at the ground, trying to take her well-deserved rest.
She had that much confidence of her brother after all.
*****
The situation on the other side of the battlefield wasn't what Uriel expected it to be though.
She didn't saw the summoning of the golem as she just passed out abruptly after thinking that the fight's done.
Raven was jumping and running all over the place trying to evade the golem's barrage of attacks.
'From storybooks, golems were supposed to be slow and dimwitted.'
Raven evaded the golem's punch that struck heavily to the ground, as he cartwheeled through his left.
He was an inch away from being pummeled to death by that one.
'Then can somebody tell me why the fuck is this one moving like it drank a gallon of Redbull all night?!'
He thought angrily, breathing raggedly due to his constant motions of evasion.
The golem wasn't particularly fast when observed from a distance.
It's just that, Raven's body was so small compared to the golem that all his efforts were barely covering a step of the golem.
"Any second now, come on..."
Raven said to himself, looking at the shield guy from the distance.
The shield guy was only standing there, sweating madly. Obviously focusing all his mental capacity controlling the golem.
But what he didn't know was, the bullet shot by Raven mid-air earlier was coated in a type of drug; a hallucinogen to be specific. Raven got it from the 'mushroom bitches' that he encountered a year ago when he was finding food.
The mushrooms looked too ordinary to be harmful so he picked them up without that much care and obviously, before he can even come back to the camp, he was struck by a sensation of someone hitting him in a head with a rock.
It was awfully painful and the lack of warning was dangerous.
Later he discovered that those mushrooms were the culprit after numerous experimentations. And from that time, he labeled it as a bitch and he's been using it as one of his trump cards during a fight.
Extracting its spores and applying it to almost any of his stuff, was a major factor why they are still alive during their stay in the forest.
As Raven was madly dodging everything the golem was throwing at him, he noticed it become sluggish for a second.
He couldn't help but smirk because he knew his drug was now beginning to work towards the shield guy.
"Finally you fucking piece of rock..!"
Raven tumbled away from the golem as he saw signs of it crumbling away, like when Than*s snapped his fingers using the infin*ty gauntlet.
CRASHHH!!
Huge chunks of rocks were falling all over the place.
He tried to distance himself earlier but it proved that it wasn't enough as he was hit here and there by small chunks of stones.
Cough
Cough
Raven coughed loudly because of all the dust near him as he tried to pinpoint the current location of the shield guy.
"There you are, you little dumbfuck."
Raven said while picking up tiny, pointed chunks of rock and kicking them mid-air towards the confusedly standing guy.
He even added tiny amounts of internal energy towards the contact of his kick to provide more power.
Pschukk!
Pschukk!
Pschukk!
The rocks landed towards the shield guy's face, neck and, groin.
Raven dashed quickly after kicking those rocks.
Swoosh~
Like a passing gale, Raven covered the distance swiftly using only purely his footwork technique.
The man saw Raven approaching but can't hardly move because of the drug. Add it on top of those rocks that struck him from his vital points...
He was now basically a lamb in front of a tiger.
But Raven still remained cautious, it was his nature after all.
He passed by the man, and circled towards him. He decided to attack him from behind since the guy might try some tricks when confronted from the front.
A quick stab from the nape followed by a slash on the neck.
Splurt
Splurt
Thud
The body of the man fell down.
Raven then backed down quickly. Acting fatigued and injured while actively observing the surroundings.
He was currently testing if someone was hidden and preparing to launch a sneak attack.
Minutes passed by silently and he finally concluded that it was safe.
Raven finally breathed a sigh of relief.
"Well, that was oddly exhilarating."
Raven said, still panting slightly. A smile was plastered on his face.
His first fight in this world, wasn't that bad after all.
