Chapter 21 - 1, 2, 3... Tomatoes!

"What is this?" Alex asked.

"Tomatoes," Ksyu said.

"Yes, I can see it myself," he replied. "But for what?"

"Most importantly," said Aram, "Chief William and Felix are already gone. And in general, they did not say anything about the task."

"And how can we understand this?" Reia said.

"Maybe we just need to get on stage and say something," David said. "And depending on how much the other guys like or dislike what we say, they decide whether to throw tomatoes at us."

"Sounds fun," said Ksyu.

"Until that tomato hits you," Reia added.

"You said everything correctly," said a tall, slender guy with long white hair who appeared out of nowhere.

"Ah, this is the same guy," said someone from the crowd. "The guy who explained to us the fight of the second team."

"He's probably a senior," said one of the students.

"In fact," the white-haired guy continued. "Nobody knows what this task is."

"What? But how?" David asked.

"Nobody ever explained it. And every year the students themselves decide what to do."

"And how does it end?" Reia asked.

"Oh," the mysterious stranger smiled. "Basically, it all ends with a mass brawl."

"It is fun," said Ksyu. "I would look at this."

In the meantime, the students were vigorously discussing the purpose of the assignment and how they would be able to pass this exam. A few minutes later, a short guy with brown eyes came up on stage. He lightly hit the microphone a couple of times, lowered it to his level, and began to speak.

"Good evening, guys," he said.

All the students gathered in the hall were quiet.

"My name is Kurota. You know, I thought a little and came to the conclusion that this exam is aimed at looking at our reaction. Of course, we can start throwing tomatoes at each other, or we can each go to the microphone and tell a little about ourselves and thus get to know each other. What do you think?"

Conversations began in the crowd.

"That sounds plausible," said one of the guys.

"He's cool," said another.

"I'll go next!" said one of the students.

"As I said, my name is Kurota," the guy standing on the stage continued. "All my life I dreamed of becoming a detective and finally my dream began to come true. No one in my family has ever studied at the Academy of Detectives, so I will be glad if you tell me more about everything connected to this. I, in turn, am always ready to help with anything. I can't wait to get to know everyone as soon as possible. I can't wait for our classes," he said.

Kurota stepped down from the stage and took his place.

"Such a cutie," said Ksyu.

"An ordinary nerd," David replied.

"Nice guy," said Aram.

"He's too naive, especially for this academy," Reia said. "It's good that at least they didn't throw tomatoes at him."

"They just aren't "warmed up" enough," Kano said. "A couple more people and they will get bored. Then everything will begin."

"I see you know how people really are," Ksyu said, smiling.

"If you live your whole life among the military and detectives, and you will understand not only that but much more," Kano said gloomily.

"I hope they would not throw tomatoes at me," Alex said.

Kano frowned at Alex.

"But what should I say? I have no idea at all," Alex continued. "If you think about it, I don't have any particular goals. And what do I want at all? I have no idea."

"Wait, maybe someone will say something clever," said Ksyu. "So you will repeat."

"Smart, smart," Alex said. "I will do as you said."

"Oh my lord. Should we wait until almost 500 students tell about themselves?" said David with displeasure. "No no. I didn't subscribe to this."

"Hah," Aram grinned. "Do you want to finish this exam right now?"

"And how are you going to do this?" David asked.

"This is none of your business," said Aram. "I bet the exam will end in a couple of minutes."

"And what are you going to do? Blow up everything here, ahahaha?" asked Ksyu with a grin. "I can't think of any other option why the exam can be finished instantly, besides this."

"Come on, everyone who doesn't believe. Let's bet," said Aram. "The losers treat the winners."

"Oh, come on," David said. "I do not believe that this is somehow possible. Show yourself."

"Well, I wouldn't be so sure," Reia said. "I always lose all the bets in my life, so I'll bet you can do it. You are too confident in yourself."

"I will bet against Aram," said Ksyu. "First, because it's more interesting to me. And secondly, I am sorry if someone alone loses and he has to treat us all."

"I will also bet against Aram," said Arto. "I can't believe that he can do something like that."

"I'll vote for Aram," Kano said. "I also wonder what will happen."

"I, I… I'll vote for Aram then, too," Alex said.

"Well, I'll go next," said Aram and smiled. "Get your wallets ready. I like to eat delicious food."

Aram began to break through the crowd of students and walked towards the curtains. When the second student finished his speech, he took a slow step up to the stage and picked up the microphone.

"I'll be brief," he said with a serious look and took a deep breath. "Death Note is an overrated work. Yagami Light is right, and Misa-Misa is a dumb character. Thank you," he said and bowed.

For a second, not a single sound was heard in the hall. At the next moment, the entire hall turned into chaos.

"What did you say, scum? Repeat! Repeat!"

"Misa-Misa is my waifu! Don't you dare talk about her like that!"

"And how she wrapped the fake Kira around her fingers! How dumb could do that!"

"Yagami Light was only right at the beginning of the manga! Then he deteriorated and became a villain!"

"That is, a villain? He is right! He eradicated crime in Japan! It was worth the sacrifice!"

"…..."

"..."

Tomatoes started flying all over the room. And only a few flew towards Aram. The students started a fight among themselves. Aram's teammates stood in the distance and did not understand what had happened. Ksyu giggled.

"It's brilliant," she said, clapping her hands. "I'm proud of you, Aram. I'm just proud. Brilliant!" she exclaimed as Aram approached their group.

"This is a straight record," said the white-haired senior. "No one has ever managed to do it so quickly."

"Don't thank me," Aram said, and began bowing left and right. "Prepare your money," he said, addressing the losers.

David's mood clearly dropped, but Ksyu seems, on the contrary, to like the situation.

"Let's go upstairs, then, to the infirmary," Kano said.

"Yes," said Aram. "We need to visit the guys."

Before Aram could finish, someone threw a tomato into his face.

"What?" he shouted. "Who did you throw it at? Into me?"

"How dare you say that Misa-Misa is stupid?!" shouted the student. "How dare you offend the best anime girl?"

Aram took a half-crushed tomato from the floor and threw it at the alleged offender.

"Because she's really dumb!" shouted Aram.

"Oh, you bastard!" another student shouted. "Guys, we got a hater here!"

"Let's show him what it is to offend our girl!"

Several students began to move towards Aram.

"Who are you attacking?" said David.

"Him! And who are you?"

"His mom, or what?"

"Oh, you!" shouted David.

"There is only one mommy!" said Ksyu and threw a tomato to one of the guys right in the eye.

"Oh, you scum!" shouted the Ksyu's victim.

"What did you say about her?" Reia shouted and sent a tomato into his other eye.

A tomato brawl began.
