Chapter 2 - First Sighting

It's been almost a month, To cover everything I've seen would take days. I believed this wouldn't be anyway different from my cancer research, I was incredibly wrong. Within hours the samples we where provided with showed, extra ordinary would be putting it mildly. One batch of Cells divided at a insane rates. Closer observation revealed that each cell maintained all their telomere length. Which I can only surmise would make the owner of the cells near immortal. However do to their division rate I could not surmise if any one person could survive this. It would almost be like having advanced staged cancer, yet having a system able to survive the division. This was only the beginning, I worked closely with Arthur who never spoke. This made Concentrating easier however as I was taking notes for my first discovering which I have happily named the Jurgen Anomaly, I was startled by a sudden Holler of "Eureka!" Quickly I rushed to his side, Arthur had discovered a series of cells that had adapted abnormal thickness of their cell walls. Over that month We logged and analyze around seven hundred anomalies. Ranging from extraordinary to Benign Cellular mutation. However it was what would come next that would be the Holy Grail.

It was just another test However analysis showed the DNA code it had been removed or erased. This is impossible as a cell can not grow without these DNA markers. However a thought Accrued to me, If I slipped in the nucleus from some of the aberrant cells maybe I could create a new DNA structure.

Foolishly I gathered what i needed and attempted the experiment. In total it lasted only ten minutes. This however did not take and sample Seven-One-Five was gone. Foolishly I Wasted what could have been a breakthrough in genetic splicing. I logged everything sent my Email to Kendra and expected to be fired the next day.

I was not shocked to be called before general Larson. I was explained that though I had lost in valuable research he wanted people around willing to push the envelope of understanding. We discussed my decisions for gene splicing. After our conversation he toured me through lab H. Though everything is in preliminary stages, base tests on cloning and cellular manipulation seem promising. The whole time the General watched me like a hawk never interfering as I asked questions or put in my thoughts with the other scientists there. As we left lab H he dropped it on me. "Well George you like the setup there"? "Yes sir! You guys have top of the line genetic sequencing computers and even near zero g culture growths! It's like a theme park I want to visit". I said beaming. My enthusiastic spirit was returned by a wicked grin that made me feel like diner. "O, Not mine. Yours's Enjoy George and don't fuck it up this time". He said this with a throaty laugh as he left my side patting my back hard enough to cause me to stumble into the next room. Where Kendra, Arthur and two people I haven't met waited Kendra seemed to be smiling wildly as she looked over a list of data. Arthur was standing by the front of the table, he appeared to be in argument with the two I hadn't met yet. Seeing Arthur angry was admittedly funny he was a smaller man with short hair and a large forehead with almost no ears, His eye sockets where deeply indented. When angered he would clench his neck and face muscles resulting in a reddening of his entire head.

Seeing his large melon redden more I quickly intervened. "Hey, What's with all the shouting"!? I used my most authoritarian voice. The two I did not know quickly stepped back as if i had just flipped a table or shot a pistol. "So? What's the problem? Arthur"? I asked raising a eyebrow at arthur who seemed shocked by my presence but as he eased into the idea that I was here he replied. "These guys think they own the entire moon or something"?! Arthur shouted back at the two who were originally doused by my appearance. Now stood bold, "Listen we have been here for seven months that gives us seniority in decisions". The taller man who was speaking ended this by slamming his hands onto the table for added effect. I smiled this wasn't the first time I'd felt with uppity colleagues. Stepping in front of the now advancing Arthur I simply shook my head at him as I turned back to the other two. "First how about some introductions, my name is Doctor Jurgen. My fields are in", "We don't care what fields you study! We don't care if YOU take a long walk with a short air supply, We were here first and the cloning lab won't move without us". I recognize blackmailing when I see it, such a silly play for power that no one here could hand out. Calmly I looked between the two. A thought occurred to me of the fourth person in the room. Turning back to the corner I saw Kendra watching with a smile as if this was a tv show. "Listen, you have a complaint take it to the general who sent me in here to get what ever this lab H is operational. From what I can see you two are the biggest road blocks to that." "What you are going to make it all right"? "No. I won't".

Reaching down along the table I found what I was looking for, a small release switch. My father wasn't a 'Smart' man he built furniture however I did learn a thing or two about it. pushing the small pressure release the table suddenly shifted toward the two, pinning the taller one and forcing the smaller of the two into a corner. "But is seems the base itself is against your proposition wouldn't you say?" As I asked I learned on the table pinning his leg for added effect. "Fuck, You Piece of Shit! Let me up what the hell are you doing"?! "Who me? I was considering lifting this malfunctioning table off you but maybe you prefer to be ruling with one leg? Like the pirate you are"? Pressing more pressure I could see his face go white. "OKAY! YOUR FUCKIG CRAZY LET ME GO!" "That's better".

Looking back at Kendra and Arthur both their expressions were plain however different, Kendra's face displayed both shock and intrigue, something that I took personal pleasure in seeing. Arthur's was not however, Shocked though he was the horror on his face at my actions was obvious. With out adieu I lifted the table side by reapplying the pressure switch. "Now both of you two go to your respective areas and draw a full report of all Lab H has done in the past seven months". They quickly left whispering their distaste for me as the did.

Looking back to the other two. "So Kendra, Arthur it seems we all were pulled into this"? I asked inquiring. "Ha, Roped in? No I planned to get here George. Maybe Arthur did". I was sure if Kendra was generally insulted again or just simply dismissing the broad point of the question. "Yea, I guess you could say that Kendra I was happy pushing data but I guess our ideas where heard up the chain". I knew why Arthur preferred data it doesn't claim to be better. "Well what do we know"? I presented the question hopping for a detailed answer I'd get it. "You know what we know George, Lab H is a pretesting lab to work on cloning, gene splicing, and growth on a cellular scale. Were to put to test the theories presented by other scientist in Lab Six. So far zero subjects from both cloning and gene splicing have survived of seven total subjects at total of fourteen Experiments". I stood there for a moment absorbing the information. Looking to Arthur and Kendra we began to create plans for the next four months.
