I think Tessa noticed that I had been spacing out during the ride back home. Rin’s acting strange again, I was thinking, and somehow I couldn’t get myself to engage in a conversation.
‘Love, let me know if your sister already picked you up, okay?’ I read the text I sent to Rin. I already got home but she still hadn’t replied yet.
It was 10 p.m. and I just finished taking a shower and I was so hungry I decided to eat cup noodles as I waited for her reply. Mom wasn’t really a fan of junk food but it was the only thing that I could cook—err prepare—without setting the kitchen on fire. Enter hot water, my most trusted ally. Mom offered me some leftover tinola (chicken ginger soup) from their dinner but I declined. It was too heavy for a night snack and I didn’t want to do the dishes. When did I like doing the dishes anyway?
‘Rin, at least let me know if you got home now,’ I texted her again. ‘It has been an hour. I’m getting worried.’
