Chapter 109 - MARIS: Dear Irene

Is it too much to like the sun?

Dear Irene,

It’s still too early to be in school but I’d rather be here than spend any more unbearable silence in my house.

I’d rather be here in our classroom, in my seat next to the balcony facing northeast, as the sun greets me first thing in the morning. I don’t like the sun that much, but these days I find it rather comforting.

Before this, I was reading a Nancy Drew novel I only started last night. Pocketbooks sure are too short for me so I decided to save it for later and write in my journal instead.

I’ve always wondered if you like this kind of book. I remember giving you my copy of Agatha Christie’s The Murder of Roger Ackroyd at the beginning of the school year. I thought classics were always a good start. I also thought it was pretty straightforward of a clue. I knew it was silly, but I hoped it would make you remember me. I don’t know what I was thinking back then.
