I was clutching a magazine I had borrowed from the library as I headed to the Literature Club room. The three-day exam would be starting tomorrow Wednesday so we didn’t have club for the week. Maris, however, insisted that we meet for a moment before going home.
“Irene, we’re in this together. Don’t forget that,” she said to me, looking disappointed, herself. Maris kept on telling me that I should’ve let her look for the painting door that day. She insisted that I should’ve asked for her help convincing the Principal.
