Yesterday flew by so fast. When I asked Anna about what she meant yesterday, it seems that she also has something to do in Ius Viride, but refused to delve into the details.
It's not like I'm going to pry, but I am pretty curious as to why someone injured like her would travel to another region in the continent despite being alone.
Looking back on the original White's memories, from the book about the heroes, the world map is shown to visualize the travels of the valiant one, Luck Whitefield.
So even if I don't truly comprehend the size of the continent, I can tell that it's really big. Nevertheless, it's not like I have a reason to not allow her to join us since I'm also someone who's just tagging in.
After we went back to the baron's mansion, Sean, who was looking for me and Sitri, dragged us back to the town hall where we talked about adventurer recruitment.
Sitri stood as an advisor, checking the profiles of the adventurers if they could possibly be trustworthy or not. I don't know why I needed to join in but I also gave some of my suggestions here and there, but only because I was asked to.
Although we haven't performed reconnaissance in the dungeon, it's not bad to think ahead of time, so I just followed along.
Although I didn't really have anything to say, Sean gave me some files. Not the plan we finalized earlier in the morning, but the files and books which include everything concerning the current status of Bellos, be it military, funding, or the laws.
I silently gave Sean a glare, to which he reacted by whispering an apology while scratching the back of his head. The baron was probably the one who asked him to do so, but Sean must have blabbered something that made him do that.
With a sigh of defeat, I read through the files. Apparently, although the baron is a noble, he doesn't have many knights at his disposal for little need do they bring in a vacation hotspot. Instead, he uses the town hall employees, the people in light brown suits, to enforce the law the town needs.
Ironically, they are also called Bellos' Brown Suits, which is too straightforward in my opinion. The tax system isn't that dreadful for the citizens as well, so everyone's living a pretty relaxed lifestyle.
However, it's only possible because it's this kind of world. One of the noble's duties is to provide security and order for those in his land, which is why said noble can increase or decrease his taxes to either bring better efficiency or to feed his desires.
In this world, since infighting between races isn't really looked upon, it is easier to maintain order. What's more, since this part of the region itself is a vacation spot with a lower level of danger, and the town, being elevated to the dangerous area that it is, doesn't need to enforce security.
The funds of the town aren't too big, but I'm only basing it on the knowledge I learned the other day whilst venturing into stalls and shops. It is sufficient enough to maintain the town's performance, but it would certainly be bad if adventurers decided to take a proud amount.
The laws were easy to understand since they are clearly explained, but it certainly would be harder if I were to test these laws in real life as there are loopholes that could turn something bad into something good and vice-versa.
Sean, Sitri, and the Baron's discussion were over, but I was still not done reading the files. I am a pretty fast reader, but reading fast and understanding are two different things, which is why I made sure to read things through thoroughly.
It was already afternoon when I finished and we were at the beach by then. We didn't really have a fully relaxing time the other day since the commotion with Galaxia happened, so the twins decided to have a little fun in the ocean.
I joined them since I also liked the fresh scent of the ocean. Sophia and Anna came with us, but Anna remained on the beach with me, reading the files I'm done reading with, to pass the time.
Sophia headed out again to look for a repair shop saying that she wanted to repair the pendant I accidentally stepped on when I first arrived in this world. Although I insisted to join her, she refused since I was busy reading the files.
Thinking back a little, the baron probably wants me to be an advisor for the expedition or something. Or is he probably pissed with my tone of 'don't pry too much' that he decided to punish me by doing so...
Either way, it's fine since I'm learning more about how this world works. For the dungeon exploration, although I'm not obliged to go, I decided to partake in anyways since I'm kind of curious about how an underground structure that spawns beasts can appear with just the divine spirit's aura alone.
I don't really like exposing myself to danger, but since I heard that this dungeon is pretty weak since Galaxia unconsciously spawned it, it's not like I'll be in grave danger.
After I finished with my readings, the twins were already preparing to head back and eat around town. Since it's their treat, I didn't refuse. What's more, the town hasn't been as lively as it first was before Galaxia appeared, so it's pretty relaxing to walk on a quiet night.
Knowing that tomorrow is the day we would go for the dungeon expedition, we headed back early to have a good night's rest. Sophia, who was searching for a repair shop for the pendant, wasn't able to find the shop she was looking for, so the pendant remained cracked for the time being.
And finally, it's the day of the expedition. The baron was kind enough to lend me a storage ring to place my sword at, so I was ready by simply wearing my grey raincoat and boots.
Sean was offered some light armor, along with the people from yesterday morning's meeting. They weren't wearing light brown suits, so I didn't notice, but they are also part of Bellos Brown Suits, who keeps the order in town.
"Are you sure you don't want me to join?" Sophia asks with a monotonous voice, but it feels like she's worried about me which made me a little happy. "It's fine. It's not like we're heading off to war or something," I replied to Sophia nonchalantly, attempting to ease her.
She opened her mouth as if to say something, but then closed it and simply gave me a head pat. "take care," she said. After that, I heard a clearing of throat as Sitri began to ask, "Then, what about her?" pointing at anna who's in a wheelchair.
"I can manage," I thought I saw Anna's cheeks flush a little as she responded, but her tone was calm and confident, so I'm probably just imagining things. Sitri chuckled slightly at Anna's response before remarking, "I'm sure you can."
I wasn't the only one confused as I saw Sean and the BBS party who also had looks of confusion written all over their faces. I don't know if she just believes we can protect Anna if anything happens, or she knows about Anna's skills which I experienced first-hand yesterday.
Unless she did see our little duel. Well, she's Sitri, so I probably shouldn't worry too much.
"Good morning, young lord Florence," The bulky man from yesterday said, "I wasn't able to introduce myself yesterday, For that, I am sorry. But please, call me Brandon"
He was the same guy who had asked about my suggestion in regards to the dungeon boss and was also the one head strategist of the plan we're using. With that in mind, I evaluated Brandon pretty highly.
"It's of no problem since you we're also busy back there. You can also drop the young master thing and just call me Sean," Sean responded casually as he extended his hand to which Brandon firmly shook.
The rest started to introduce themselves as well. Starting from the ebony blonde-haired man who was carrying a sword that looks like a zweihänder, he introduced himself as Denis before getting pushed aside by a blue-haired woman.
This woman looked 18 years old at most with her small build and humble air, but I can't help but feel that she has keen eyes. Well, that's to be expected as she introduced herself as Leyla and she uses a bow that had a simplistic, yet interesting design.
The last one introduced himself as Cyrill. He is a black-haired man that looks like in his twenties and looks pretty scrawny in my opinion, but he is wielding two unusual weapons that looked really dangerous. But rather than creepy, it feels like he's just exhausted.
How can I tell? When he was introducing himself to Sean, he cut off mid-sentence. We tried to wait for him to continue, but what we heard instead was his snoring, causing laughter from everyone except the baron who was mumbling things like, "Let's just hope this goes well."
After greeting Sean, the BBS party headed towards me and greeted me. They heard yesterday morning that I'm from humble origins, so they approached me more casually than they did with Sean.
With everything ready, we used the baron's carriage to go to the Dungeon's location outside of town. With no magic imbued in it, it was just a normal carriage made of finely processed wood.
And so, the seven of us headed to the dungeon.
