"Ha? Teach you how to wield a sword? You don't even look like you can hold one!" Mr. Renard's face broke in laughter, very different from his usual composed and stern look.
I could feel a vein pop in my head as the man laughed audibly, but I still kept the gentle smile I wore on my face.
"That's simple," I responded whilst trying to show a calm expression.
"Hoh? Can you even with that untrained body of yours?" He asked back, a slight grin on his face as he reclaims his earlier composure.
Although White's body indeed looked weak, the awakening of stigma greatly improved one's physical capabilities. Of course, not everyone can awaken as not everyone has a crux.
And even if they did have the stigma, it would be considered as a dead organ if they did not have a crux. On the other hand, having a crux without a stigma would result in being able to use mana arts.
Sophia explained to me that due to my mysterious magic, she covered up the incident that had happened. Telling Mr. Renard that she was the one who came to rescued me and Kayla from the bear-like chimera beast. It wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the truth either.
"Why don't we try and see?" I told him as I walked to his sword hanging in the wall.
"Interesting. Sure, go give it a lift." He said with a grin.
'Looking a bit conceited now are we?' I expressed my comments in my thoughts as I closed my eyes to try and calm my head. You can't really blame me for being annoyed by such antics, as I've never talked as nonchalant as I have in this world compared to my own. As I thought of that, I gave out an internal sigh.
Grabbing the sword from the wall, I pulled out the blade from its scabbard, revealing a fine glossy blue blade longer than my childish arms. I wasn't fanatic, but even I could tell this was a fine sword. Furthermore, the blue metal used in this sword looked extremely sturdy.
I picked up the sword with two hands, slowly feeling the weight as I held it. Swords are weapons that needed to be light to efficiently maneuver, but at the same time heavy enough to deal considerable damage-- disregarding their type that is. However, to the strength of a seven years old child, in no way could a long sword longer than their arms be called light.
"Oh?" Mr. Renard comments still looking composed, but I could sense a bit of surprise in his eyes.
"What did I say?" Although my physical prowess had greatly improved because of the awakening of my crux, holding this long sword for an extended amount of time is still rather tiring. I decided that I have to start exercising this body.
"You're pretty strong kid," he said, this time with a much softer expression.
'Haha told you so!' I rejoiced in my head as I tried to suppress a proud smile from my face. "So will you teach me now?"
"Hmm? I've never made a bet that if you can carry my sword I'll teach you how to wield one right?" He says.
'Huhh? Then why'd I carry this heavy ass sword for then?" I thought to myself as I tilted my head to the side, giving out a tsk. If I only didn't have this much to think about, I might have seen through that.
"Hahaha, but I guess I could teach you as I'm already teaching Kayla." He said after bursting in a laughter.
I swear, I can't tell if this man is playing around or is just trying to be casual despite his stern look. Well, I guess most of it is because of my expressions on haywire because of its mixture with White's.
"Then when do I start?" I asked
"Well since we just finished our training today, come back tomorrow Dorr Rise." he said
"Okay then, see you tomorrow!" I said before leaving their home.
"What an amusing child he is," Renard comments as he looks at the back of the child through the window.
"Told you so!" Kayla replies as she leans at the kitchen doorframe holding a bowl of finely cut apples, eating some with a small proud look etched in her face.
"Isn't he interesting?" With a slight tinge of flushed cheeks, Kayla followed up.
"... Are you fawning over that guy?"
"T-that's none of your business!"
"No! I won't allow any other man in my daughter's heart- GUAAHHH!
"SHUT UP!" Kayla threw the empty bowl in his father's guts before running away.
"Tsk, to seduce my daughter like this... you're gonna get trained real good child," Renard says with a pained smile etched on his face.
"But to think such a child can hold this long sword..." Looking at the fine blue long sword he hung back in the wall. As Renard thought of ways how it was possible, he thought of asking Kayla whether that boy had awakened.
But looking back, he remembered what happened a moment earlier and decided to give up on the idea.
"Well, I guess I could just ask tomorrow."
