Selena found herself inside a room, inside a box, she looked everywhere and saw Ryota next to her, studying.
Ryota saw her awake and pushed his wheelchair towards her, and lay out his hands gently towards Selena and rubbed her. He thought she would bite but Selena stayed there patiently.
"You must be hungry" said Ryota bringing out some dish of worms. Selena screamed seeing worms and flew away.
She flew away in fright and when round and round the room.
"why don't you like worms " he said
Selena refused to eat and saw some candies lying there, she flew across it and started eating it.
"hey, that's mine!" said Ryota seeing Selena eating. " You're a odd looking bird" . He looked at Selena. " Do you want some fish"
Selena shook her head, when Ryota brought the food, she happily ate. " You're a weird hawk, and it looks like you really understand me". Selena jumped to his shoulder and started rubbing against him.
" Hahaha, you're really funny, do you want to stay with me " said Ryota and Selena shook her head as a yes.
So together they lived happily, but as both of them lived the staying was kinda uncomfortable. As we know that Ryota lost her parents, he was alone. He was always alone in the house, the only person who comes rarely to the house is his aunt.
You see, after his parents died, after he recovered, he was to stay in the hospital to recover the injuries, he could not attend his parents funeral. No one from his family actually came, only a handful.
He heard from his friends that when his friends attended, his neighbors took care of the funeral after being discharged from the hospital. Apparently, the expenses of the funeral would later be paid from the insurance money of his family.
Fortunately, the remaining insurance was enough for him to survive until he became an adult. A lawyer in charge had explained the details, but he didn't matter much.
That said, Ryota, who had just entered school was a minor, could not possibly manage the remaining insurance finances. So they left to his aunt from his father's side, who was his only remaining relative.
His aunt was in her mid-thirties and unmarried if he remembered correctly.
Because she lived pretty far away so she didn't have time to live. What's more, even during his family's funeral, she hadn't shown up due to being busy.
Furthermore, she clearly refused to take in and look after Ryota and his grandfather took care of him but after three months he too passed away.
His aunt then became his guardian only on paper, and Ryota's life living began.
Necessary funds for living and school was transferred to Ryota's account every month. This was the only thing that Ryota's aunt did well, but that might just be part of some contract.
It was possible that his aunt took part of the money into her own pocket. She gave 10% of the shares to him and would spend the money for her benefit , but she gave him to medical supplies on time, sometimes due to busy work she comes to hand him the supplies after two months which made him to go alone in the wheelchair with great difficulty.
He could very well accuse his aunt of neglecting her duties.
But then his aunt would become disqualified as his guardian, and he would have to be taken into a foster family or orphanage. If he had to choose, living alone like he was would be the better option.
Tatsumi sold his parents house where he lived with his family and moved to an apartment close to his school.
The house where he lived before was too spacious for him to live alone in, and the maintenance costs would be too great. And above all, living alone in a house filled with memories of his late family was too painful for Ryota
Ryota had managed to pass the exam for his school of choice, but it was hard to say that his new life went well.
Even after being discharged, painful rehabilitation was waiting afterward. By the time he left the hospital after finishing all of the rehabilitation and returned to everyday life, the first semester was already over and the school had already entered summer vacation.
He turned up at school suddenly in the second semester. His classmates seemed to have been informed of his misfortune beforehand and every single one of them interacted with him as if he was a tumor.
There was no bullying or malicious intent, but it was somehow uncomfortable for them to deal with a victim of such unfortunate circumstances, so Ryota was often left alone.
Still, the reason why Ryota had continued to go to high school was that his late family was very happy when he passed the entrance exam.
Ryota continued going to high school in order to meet the expectations of his family.
But his grades weren't doing well, there was no club he was devoted to, and he had nobody he could call a close friend.
Before long, he simply continued going to school out of habit.
Even with the life he had, he was able to look forward to the future. He would see himself as a disgrace.
He started crying but Selena comforted him which made him relax.
" Thank you" he said
Selena looking gave a cheerful chirp.
"Since you're my pet, what should I call you" he suddenly tries to think and then a glimpse of the girl comes to his mind "Sayori"
Selena gets shocked and chirps cheerful and hugs him.
" oh you like that huh, fine Sayori" Ryota smiles at him
Slowly, both of them maintained a good relationship.
They both always played together and She was always there waiting for him when he returned to his apartment.
Ryota spending his days with her, he's depression faded away and that's because of Sayori That keeping him going.After that, they were almost inseparable
However.
Even with his dearest Sayori, he could not enjoy much of the fun since he still had the liver problem because of the accident made him visit the doctor every two weeks
He would cry all the time which made Sayori sad. Then she told to herself, " What a sad child, if I knew about him I could have been with him to support"
Dragging on the sorrow of having lost his life, Ryota shut himself in his apartment room.
During the day, he would do nothing but motionlessly stare at Sayori. Then at night, he would crawl into bed and cry. Selena was looking and tried to heal his body but it didn't work cause he's body was too strong that Selena could not help him.
Selena felt bad and through the moonlight prayed to Isis.
" Please oh God mother, hear my prayers, I beg you to help Ryota"
A spark comes to her, when she opened she was back to Isis throne while the goddess is sitting in the garden. She was accompanied by some animals.
" oh my dear Selena what brings you here, have you given up finding the choosen one" said Isis
" No god mother, I have come for help" said Selena with tears
" So you have come to heal the boy " said Serena who was sitting at the table sipping her wine
" greetings Holy Goddess of Death" said Selena bowing before her
" The boy?, is he your lover" said Isis smiling
" No!.." blushed Selena, " he is a very good and kind boy , he was always cheerful and would always play with me when young, but after his parents died, he lost all happiness, I want him to get his happiness"
" And what will we do about it" said Serena
" I beg you to give me the power to heal him" said Selena
Isis looked at Serena and the goddess of death showed Selena an hourglass.
" look here mortal, this is the boys lifespan" and she saw that he has less than a year to live.
"What, no !... it can't be"
" death is not a joke" said the goddess of death
" Please I beg you, I beg you please, give him more time to live" said Selena begging in her knees
both of them look at each other. " Selena, dear" Isis stood up ." if you want him to live you should do something".
" yes, anything" said Selena
Serena rose taking her sickle and pointed on to her " dear Selena, if you are to save this boy, I hereby take your immortality away and pass to the boy till the day he grows old"
"yes thank you "said Selena bowing with happiness
"But!.." , said Isis " if he was to die suddenly, you should not complain"
" I get your words" said Selena
Back into reality, Ryota awakens and drinks some water, he sees Selena near the window
" Sayori what are you doing?" said Ryota
As he saw her there was tears which dropped like pearls
This was the first time seeing a bird tear.
"Sayori.." but before he could speak further he saw himself standing
" What!.. I can't believe" Ryota amazed
he raises his feet and jumps and cries
Selena roaming around him starts chirping.
" Sayori I'm walking, I'm finally walking" said Ryota. He goes out of his house and runs out the street while Selena goes into her human form says " Thank goodness!.."
