I died, if that tells you anything about how my day was going. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but one minute I was standing in my living room and the next I was floating in utter and complete darkness.
Damen felt no pain, nor did he know if his senses even worked. He could only assess that this was what happened when you died, and everything he was ever taught or believed was all a lie. There was no white light, or endless flames, only darkness.
"Eh...darkness suits me anyway, screw this place," he thought to himself. "This is far better than what I imagined or expected."
He couldn't be sure how much time had passed since he'd arrived in this place. Time itself seemed to be altered here. The longer he was there the more he began to wonder if he was actually dead or not. He believed in all manner of conspiracies when he was alive, so there was the small possibility he was trapped between dimensions.
"You're almost right," a soft, deep, comforting voice beside him said. "You are dead, but this is not an afterlife. You are in a world between worlds. A place most mortals would refer to as Purgatory."
The man said it so matter of factly that it caught him off guard.
"Tell me your name kid," the man said, his voice taking on a bored tone.
"It's Vega," the boy replied.
"Well met Vega," the man nodded with a smile. "I'd introduce myself but you'd never believe me, so let's just cut to the chase. How would you like a second chance at life?"
Vega had yet to see the man, but his words were enticing. Could it really be possible to come back to life? What if it had become rotten by now? He had way more questions than answers.
"You're body is still quite fresh kid, you've only been dead a few hours, but that won't matter as I'll be sure to reverse all damages your body has suffered from death. And yes, before you even think it, I am reading your mind. So how about it? You just have look me in the eyes and say yes. There are a few minor clauses, but nothing too serious."
The man floated around to the front of Vega. He had short, slicked back black hair, an immaculate black Armani suit and tie, shoes polished to perfection, and an ageless face with a flawlessly developed figure to match. Even to someone not interested in same sex, this man would be considered very attractive. The only thing off were his eyes. They glowed with an almost eerie dark light from crystal blue eyes.
"So what say you kid? Want your life back?" he asked again with a crooked half smile.
"What's in it for you?" Vega replied.
"Almost nothing for once. If anything, you get the best possible outcome, you don't lose your soul." The smile on his face was so natural as he said this, that it was terrifying.
"Fine whatever, I agree. Yes I want my life back," Vega replied stubbornly. Though, in truth, he was utterly terrified and knew it couldn't be this simple.
"Yes, very good. I think you'll be a good fit. Good luck kid, we'll be in touch," the man snapped his fingers and the world around Vega flashed with a bright white light.

Beep...beep...beep
"The patient has stabilized Doctor."
"That's a huge relief, let's get him to a room immediately."
"Yes sir, right away!"
The voices were speaking hurriedly. He wasn't quite sure what was happening, his head was pounding. Wasn't he just dead? Was it all a dream? He opened his eyes slowly.
A blank screen appeared before his eyes, when he reached up to touch it his hand passed through.
"What is that?" Vega mumbled to himself.
"The patient is waking up Doctor."
"Good, let's keep this moving."
Words slowly appeared on the blank screen in front of him. Welcome to the Necrosis System... would you like an overview? The voice sound friendly enough. It came out as soft, pleasant female voice. The words yes and no appeared on the screen. Vega decided on the yes box, but before he could reach up to select it, the word was highlight and a long video explaining the Necrosis System played before his eyes.
Nobody paid him any mind. They had to have seen the whole thing. His day was becoming stranger and stranger, couldn't he just go back to being dead? He sighed and relaxed, deciding to see what this video would tell him.
