I was a normal teenager,until I discovered a little secret that would shock my life to the core,never had I imagined that I was a curse...!! it hurt and he had no idea of what had happened,she hide it from him...! they say hell is a place of eternal torment and punishment of those who were evil.....but yet,I was in hell on earth,and it all started little by little,and it all started when I turned eighteen of age,my mum had left this box to be given to me by her lawyer when I turned eighteen of age,that day,I woke up right before the sun woke me up. Those curious eyes of mine,popped open to view the sight,I was in college,one of the popular girl's in school West College in Brooklyn,I mean I was envied by most girl's cause I lacked nothing,my dad spared me no glitter,luxury and fun.I knew he was going to surprise me today,but nothing he gives me today is worth his time,which he never had,except for Kaila Durosis his fiance,she was a woman every man would like to have,brown skin body,light brown eye's,um pointed nose,a lantern shape and a good sense of humour above everything,she got the number six,she knew how to use it to her advantage as she is doing right now with my dad,my dad had always been lenient in life,it was easy to fool him,thou I think he was trying to run away from something mysterious.He never really got along with my mum,don't know why,I guess,they never loved each other or maybe it was a contract wedding like what I am going to have.My dad was a sent at or in the Us,we lived in a Brooklyn,thou he grew up at Texas,he never wanted anything to do with that place and he wouldn't tell me why,at a point I stopped asking,I was going to find out when I went there to see my maternal grandmother.She was another story,the boss which I'll call Patrona Lavana,she was anything but a grandmother,we never got along,she told me I was a curse that had to be sent to hell with those harsh words she said just at the age of four,I knew she didn't like me much and I decided,I didn't like her too...!! Lava na is the name of my grandma,she lives at Texas,my mum was the only child for her,bit am afraid,she was never really a mum to my mother,you know why? you will get to know as time goes on.Going back to my birthday,I slipped out of bed,curious of what the day held in surprise for me,I put on my night robe,I wondered what was happening down stair's,thou the house seemed quite,no foots working,boots clinking and stumping,I pushed opened the door of my room,placed myself on the hand-rail and slide down the stair's,it wasn't my thing to smile,I was a bone in the knock of the worker's,bit they were always kind to me,I wondered if they too were running from the curse,but nope,I dropt at the kitchen,taking a sit by the table,where was Nana? she was always at the kitchen to serve in the morning,Lydia had the night shift,Tatiana had the evening shift, and lovelyn the afternoon shift .Looking at the risen of the sun,the rays passing through the blind,it felt magical until the alarm rang loudly,my ear's felt like it was going to go deaf or something.....I then decided to get someone to switch off the alarm,I closed the kitchen door and started heading the staff quarter's when the clicking of the front door,drew my attention.It was my dad,and there after,mum's lawyer was ushered in with Kaila following them at the back,I felt curious to know why no one remembered my birthday and why the lawyer was here on my birthday,I bet Kaila must be up to something,I started down stair's to the living room,from a distance I could hear their merry voice's smiling,having fun without the birthday girl....Kaila was taking my place in my dads life,I heard her saying
"what shall we offer you barrister Owen?" she asked with a smile,I peeped,my dad was holding a glass of gin in his hand.
"nothing,I would take my leave right after I deliver this to Helen,its her birthday gift from her mum" he said,I guess everyone was as shocked as I was,my dad spat out the gin he had in his mouth and Kailas mouth was agape,could this man be mad? my mum has been dead for six year's now and his saying this." she asked me to keep this box,and give it to Helen when she was of age,she have it to me before she died,I can only give her one thing,and the other's when she wants it."
" can I have a look at the box?" my dad asked
" no sir,its for Helen" he said adamantly" can you please get her for me?" his eyes was on Kaila,I knew she really wanted to see what was in it,bit I guess my mum beat her to this contest.I was happy,I stepped backward,and pretended as thou I was heading somewhere else when Kaila came out,she sighted as she saw me.
"thank God you are here,there's someone here to see you.." I knew she was waiting for a nasty reply from me,but not today Mrs goody-too-shoes,this eaglet had to fly high.I nodded and followed her behind,I took a sit as she did,staring at my dad,he was still in shock,snap out of it Mr,hadn't she been always mysterious? the lawyer repeated himself,but I wasn't paying attention to him,when he was done,I thanked him and made my way out of the room,my heart beat increased,it felt like this box was a burden,the name "secreto" was inscribed on it.I couldn't wait to read it,to know what's in there,when I got into my room,I slammed the door,place the box on the bed,and went for a long shower.This is where the story really began!
